Just take a look at all the insane yanks posting here and you understand what a thankless job Obama has had for the past eight years. Actually pull the country out of the mud and get more flak than the guys who put them there. I wonder if he thinks it was worth it!

"The man was elected not once, but twice over the alternative"

So was George W.Bush.

FadamorJAN. 07, 2016 - 05:10AM JST A pretty good assessment. Trump's numbers are around 35% of Republicans who've indicated a preference. The only reason such a low number makes him the Republican front runner is because there are so many people still running for the Republican nomination. Once some of those candidates drop out, you'll see the Republican lead shifting to one of the other Republican candidates

That's the assumption. But so much more weirdness can happen between now and the summer. The game now is to figure out where the supporters of all the single digit kids are now throwing in with or whether a sizeable number will just stay home because their fact-adverse and hate-spewing idiot (take your pick) didn't get the nomination.

A great bit in TPM yesterday about the complete dysfunction of the GOP race at this point - Rubio PAC money is going after Christie, who has only a 33% approval rating at home, 11% GOP poll support, and who will be lucky to not be indicted before he finally throws in the towel on his WH run.

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/democrats-are-smiling < http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/chris-christie/> - 3rd paragraph says it all.

NZ2011JAN. 06, 2016 - 10:07AM JST you don't seriously think Trump actually has a chance? (actual question) Thats terrifying.. time to sign up for mars one...

Proverbial snowball in Hell.

People read or hear about poll numbers without analyzing them. Trump is current leader amongst, variably, "likely GOP primary voters." He has 30% +/- support of this group. This really means he has 30% of roughly 30%.

In U.S. presidential elections, approximately 30% of regular voters consistently support GOP candidates and approximately 30% support Democratic candidates. The remaining 40%, "swing/independent" voters (AKA - people with no discernible, consistent or rational political philosophy) is who decides presidential elections. So while it looks like Trump is something of a juggernaut right now, he really has very little general support and things will get real rough for him after the first couple of primaries, the first two being NH and Iowa, two states not at all representative of the nation as a whole.

There are next to no minorities in NH and a small percentage of Hispanic-Americans in Iowa. S. Carolina has become a full-on racist state, so all the "haters," Trump being the leader of the pack right now, will be okay until the primaries begin on the West Coast, Upper Midwest and Mid Atlantic states because Trump, and Cruz and Rubio to an extent (Hispanics themselves, but not "Mesikans") have managed to insult everyone in the country who is not a low information, Fox watching, middle- to late-middle age white person. Just look at who shows up at Trump's rallies.

The GOP will railroad Trump at the convention, if he lasts that long, nominating a more "traditional" candidate, at this point, likely Rubio, who is none too bright (he'd be lucky to carry his home state in the general) or Bush. Cruz is just too abrasive and half the Republicans in the Senate would campaign against him. Bush, supposedly the "smart one," is in single digits right now and has made gaffe after gaffe ("Iraq turned out pretty good.").

Regardless of who the GOP nominee is, Trump is now so delusional that he'll likely mount an independent campaign peeling off or at least encouraging the hateful fringe to vote for him rather than the GOP nominee or just staying home.

Short take, congratulations Madame President.

If Trump or any of the republicans running win the WH you can add one more to the list in crazy town.

Trump isn't expected to take the first caucus so you could look to that with hope, but caucuses are misleading. For instance, the "Iowa Caucus" takes place in Iowa, but there's no requirement that all the voters who participate in the caucus actually COME from Iowa. So candidates bus-in participants from other states to boost their numbers. Caucuses are a huge shell game. We aren't going to get a real idea of who is leading whom until the actual Primaries (when the voters DO have to come from that state) start happening.

JeffLeeJAN. 05, 2016 - 05:08PM JST A study has found that many really successful people are narcissists. So yeah, Obama's comment makes sense.

On can be a narcissist without being successful, crazy or a racist.

I thought it was a good bit. Good on him,

Its funny isn't it, one mention of Obama and the lines are always clear.

Almost instantly people are flinging muck... or signing praises.

Not my president, but what the US does has wide reaching effects. I think he isn't so bad, probably one of the better ones, and far less scary to me than any of the republican options recently, my complaint would be he just hasn't been anything like the socialist lefty people always accuse him of being.

(also Kenyan, muslim, the anti-christ, anti religious, communist, socialist, devil incarnate etc etc and while many of these are mutually exclusive you will hear these from the same people.. its hilarious in its idiocy)

I find it funny though that people constantly say he isn't doing enough or hasn't changed anything but because of the system of politics there its almost impossible to do anything with dogmatic people in opposition who won't allow anything to happen.

The gun thing 100% behind, doesn't go far enough in my opinion, but little steps I guess, unfortunately it may well become an issue for the election that swings it the republican way.. {cue banjos} "coz you only gonna take this gun from my cold dead hands" nonsense, even though it doesn't stop anyone from doing more or less what they want, simply that dangerous, deadly items can and should be regulated and not given away like candy.

Reminds me a little of the complaints.. "oh but we took prayer from schools" .. nope, incorrect.. kids can pray before a test, before lunch, in a group with their friends, on the toilet if they please.. just the school and teachers can't lead it because THE CONSTITUTION.. anyway.. I digress.

but he wouldn't qualify as a "leader" by any stretch of the imagination.

??? The man was elected not once, but twice over the alternative. The majority of the American public certainly felt he was more of a leader than the pitiful candidates the Republicans propped up in those elections. Then, too, there's the fact that anytime he DOES try to establish leadership, Congress howls that he's overstepping his authority.

No, it doesn't require a stretch of the imagination at all to qualify Obama as a World Leader.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Obama should know. He leads the pack of crazies, but he wouldn't qualify as a "leader" by any stretch of the imagination.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

“How many world leaders, you think, are just completely out of their mind?” Seinfeld asked Obama at one point.

“A pretty sizable percentage,” Obama replied.

I've been saying this for over two decades: Anyone willing to run for President gets an automatic berth at the nearest mental institution. Anyone willing to go through a year of mud slinging in order to reach an election where - if you win - you then have to spend the next four years cajoling, wheedling, pleading, and downright begging for Congress to actually do their jobs, is someone who is certifiably non compos mentis.

Jeff huff: The daily show was mentioned in the last line, therefor it relates to the article.

I saw the Seinfeld bit with Coffee and the president. Was rather bland, but then again, Seinfeld is work almost 1 billion bucks, so he does not have to be funny any more. Shalom

So I guess the person that give the negative point doesn't get humor?

I do like Obama... if it were up to me, he should run for president one more period.

The fact that he can laugh at himself is one of big reason that he is a good leader.

"Obama blows off steam by cursing, that his underwear is all one brand and one color, that he shaves before he works out and that his guilty food pleasure is nachos."

Wow, I didn't know Obama and I have so much in common!

"Seinfeld and Obama also talked about the drawbacks of fame versus anonymity, how to deal with hecklers, and Obama’s most embarrassing presidential moment. “This may be it,” quipped the president."

Har!

"'Sizable percentage' of world leaders probably crazy,"

" and told him that “a pretty sizable percentage” of world leaders may be crazy. "

That is probably the first time Obama said something that is true. But the context is a comedy show, alas.

. . . And people though what KRAMER said what "outrage" -Sheesh

so a harmless tongue in cheek joke at his own personal expense is worse than Michael Richards angrily screaming the N word at a black man?

and Wc626, no one has said "sheesh" outside an Archie Andrews comic since 1975.

shonanbbJAN. 05, 2016 - 08:06AM JST I miss the Real Daily Show. Do not watch this one.

This isn't about the Daily Show, which is on Comedy Central. This is a web based thing Seinfeld does.

Prove how smooth and smart Obama is

“Part of what happens is, these guys, I think the longer they stay in office, the more likely that is to happen,” Obama said.

He in that line he is also including himself. I really like Obama...

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Obama is clearly a smart guy but it may also hold true for a sizable percentage of his administration..... coocoo

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Obama is pretty funny. I like his sense of humor. I also liked OJ's sense of humor too, but something went awry there.

I get it! Obama. Black guy with sense of humour. OJ. Black guy with sense of humour, but a murderer.

Therefore Obama possibly a murderer.

Shonanbb - I usually ignore the crazy comments on JT for what they are, but its always interesting to see how some people view blacks.

He can add himself to the list of things he said about other world leaders. Hilarious!...yup...very funny! ...hahaha (-_-)

This segment of "Comedians in Cars getting Coffee" is sure to become a classic. Great chemistry between Seinfeld and the President.

What personal freedoms has Barack Obama specifically taken away that weren't already snatched up in the wake of 9/11 by the Bush Administration and the "Patriot Act?" List, please.

that his underwear is all one brand and one color

Mind starts turning... I'm thinking red, but they're probably black, in that nice shorts style. Oh yes.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

If you can laugh at losing much of your personal freedom, Obama is very funny, perhaps a bit like OJ.
