'Sizable percentage' of world leaders probably crazy, Obama tells Seinfeld

Just take a look at all the insane yanks posting here and you understand what a thankless job Obama has had for the past eight years. Actually pull the country out of the mud and get more flak than the guys who put them there. I wonder if he thinks it was worth it!

That's the assumption. But so much more weirdness can happen between now and the summer. The game now is to figure out where the supporters of all the single digit kids are now throwing in with or whether a sizeable number will just stay home because their fact-adverse and hate-spewing idiot (take your pick) didn't get the nomination.

A great bit in TPM yesterday about the complete dysfunction of the GOP race at this point - Rubio PAC money is going after Christie, who has only a 33% approval rating at home, 11% GOP poll support, and who will be lucky to not be indicted before he finally throws in the towel on his WH run.

People read or hear about poll numbers without analyzing them. Trump is current leader amongst, variably, "likely GOP primary voters." He has 30% +/- support of this group. This really means he has 30% of roughly 30%.

In U.S. presidential elections, approximately 30% of regular voters consistently support GOP candidates and approximately 30% support Democratic candidates. The remaining 40%, "swing/independent" voters (AKA - people with no discernible, consistent or rational political philosophy) is who decides presidential elections. So while it looks like Trump is something of a juggernaut right now, he really has very little general support and things will get real rough for him after the first couple of primaries, the first two being NH and Iowa, two states not at all representative of the nation as a whole.

There are next to no minorities in NH and a small percentage of Hispanic-Americans in Iowa. S. Carolina has become a full-on racist state, so all the "haters," Trump being the leader of the pack right now, will be okay until the primaries begin on the West Coast, Upper Midwest and Mid Atlantic states because Trump, and Cruz and Rubio to an extent (Hispanics themselves, but not "Mesikans") have managed to insult everyone in the country who is not a low information, Fox watching, middle- to late-middle age white person. Just look at who shows up at Trump's rallies.

The GOP will railroad Trump at the convention, if he lasts that long, nominating a more "traditional" candidate, at this point, likely Rubio, who is none too bright (he'd be lucky to carry his home state in the general) or Bush. Cruz is just too abrasive and half the Republicans in the Senate would campaign against him. Bush, supposedly the "smart one," is in single digits right now and has made gaffe after gaffe ("Iraq turned out pretty good.").

Regardless of who the GOP nominee is, Trump is now so delusional that he'll likely mount an independent campaign peeling off or at least encouraging the hateful fringe to vote for him rather than the GOP nominee or just staying home.

Short take, congratulations Madame President.

If Trump or any of the republicans running win the WH you can add one more to the list in crazy town.

Trump isn't expected to take the first caucus so you could look to that with hope, but caucuses are misleading. For instance, the "Iowa Caucus" takes place in Iowa, but there's no requirement that all the voters who participate in the caucus actually COME from Iowa. So candidates bus-in participants from other states to boost their numbers. Caucuses are a huge shell game. We aren't going to get a real idea of who is leading whom until the actual Primaries (when the voters DO have to come from that state) start happening.

Its funny isn't it, one mention of Obama and the lines are always clear.

Not my president, but what the US does has wide reaching effects. I think he isn't so bad, probably one of the better ones, and far less scary to me than any of the republican options recently, my complaint would be he just hasn't been anything like the socialist lefty people always accuse him of being.

(also Kenyan, muslim, the anti-christ, anti religious, communist, socialist, devil incarnate etc etc and while many of these are mutually exclusive you will hear these from the same people.. its hilarious in its idiocy)

I find it funny though that people constantly say he isn't doing enough or hasn't changed anything but because of the system of politics there its almost impossible to do anything with dogmatic people in opposition who won't allow anything to happen.

I've been saying this for over two decades: Anyone willing to run for President gets an automatic berth at the nearest mental institution. Anyone willing to go through a year of mud slinging in order to reach an election where - if you win - you then have to spend the next four years cajoling, wheedling, pleading, and downright begging for Congress to actually do their jobs, is someone who is certifiably non compos mentis.
