SMAP announce 5-dome tour

Pop group SMAP have announced their seventh 5-dome concert of Japan.

The tour will start on Aug 23, two weeks after the release of the group's 20th original album "Gift of SMAP," with performances in Tokyo, Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka.

Last year, SMAP marked their 20th anniversary. Goro Inagaki, 38, said that "last year was a significant and important year for us. However, we can restart again," according to Nikkan Sports.

SMAP did not perform any big concerts last year because of the March 11 disaster. Instead, they held meet-and-greet events for fans and sang at fund-raisers.

Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, 37, said: "Japan had a hard time last year, so this year, we would like to put on a great show and encourage our fans."

SMAP was really supportive of 3/11 victims last year. Good for them and wishing all success. Downers need not give the usual smack downs to SMAP. For once.

i agree with you patricia.

"SMAP" are a strictly controlled production like Arashi and AKB 48. They do not make any decisions about their professional lives themselves. Everything they do in the public arena is decided by their management teams. The more skeptical might tend to think that being supportive of 3/11 victims was an absolute necessity to maintain their carefully-nurtured public image.

Sounds more like their last attempt to seem benevolent with a 6% donation of all intake off their last albums wasn't enough, and they know it, so they are further trying to bribe fans while making themselves look like winners (when they are losers).

C'mon smith, did you donate 6% of your salary last year....or ever?!

billy

Not shallow really. 6% of SMAP money is big money. How much should they have donated? 10%? 50% 100%?

Folks,

Sorry Billy & Smith are correct, smap released an album under guise of donating to Fukushima victims when in reality they donated a tiny winy proportion & POCKED THE REST, its was pretty slimy move!

But hey now their mgmt can go back to full on profiteering!

GW pretty ordinary to make a 'slimy' accusation based on a purposely ambiguous story aimed at inflamming. You blokes dont like SMAP.ok we get it,but your constant whining and repeating the same old tiresome accusations comes across as schoolgirl petty jealousy..get properly informed and move on.

Are they going to shave their heads bald?

GW, you want to 'teach' me with a Japan Today article ?? Using this as your primary source is reliable enough for you ??

In other words, Kusanagi (37) was 16 when he joined SMAP..... now the whole situation has become a lot clearer to me.

Fingerpointers: What percentage of your salary did you donate?

CDown,

It was all over the media when the scam, sorry I mean "charity" thing went down, it was incredibly bad.

I mean hey wud you give me Y3000 yen if I said I wud donate Y1500 of it, course not, but thats EXACTLY what smap & their mgmt did, a measly Y200 it was a sick joke that myself & a few others on this thread remember & with some luck you wont forget!

OK, we get it, but your constant defending of this kind sham and refuting the validity of those who object to it comes across as, well... schoolgirlish...please get properly informed and move on.

Hope he won't get too excited and start running naked all over the place.
