Wait wait... Lord of the Rings Prequel character... so how does this character from 'Middle Earth', supposedly taking place in some other time before ours have anything to do with WallStreet??? Perhaps he's worth 67 million bottles of ale?

Pozzy, as far as I remember, the dragon hoarded a treasure trove of gold and precious stones. Somebody roughly estimated its amount and worth in dollars. What puzzles me is the point of this exercise, but then I read the article out of sheer interest, didn't I?

All they can really say about Smaug was that he did not bank and did not invest. He kept all his wealth "stuffed in his mattress", as it were. His net worth is just a stab in the dark as you can't really put a monetary value on a "pile of loot".

Where's Braddock Washington from Fitzgerald's "The Diamond as Big as the Ritz?" Yes, it's a short story, and yes, he destroys the source of his wealth, but the amount of radium the Washingtons had tucked away should have been worth a great deal of money.

They do this every year just for fun - they just recalculate from previous year's numbers to current year's new values of the same assets. It's just a mind challenge, since what they learn from this type of exercises they then use to calculate real-life situations, to be better at estimations.
