Remember when they mocked Malia Obama?

Malia was never involved with her father's campaign, running her father's business, or as the sketch was pointing out, complicit. She was just a kid, and therefore off limits.

Or the incessant mocking of BO?

Like Sasoriza said, the Rock actually did angry Hulk Obama on SNL. But again, some people are simply better targets for comedy. Obama wasn't the best president for comedians.

15 ( +16 / -1 )

SNL so lame anymore. Can you imagine the backlash had they made fun of Michelle Obama? Unwatchable anymore..

Uh, they're a comedy show. Skewering politicians is what they do. Obama wasn't without faults, but he made for a boring target for laughs and there's almost nothing to make fun of or criticize about Michelle Obama. If there was, I guarantee there wouldn't of been any backlash as long as it was on point.

On the other hand, Trump and company are comedy gold mines. You and our humorless, thin-skinned president might not like it, but SNL's ratings and views are better than they have been for a long time.

14 ( +20 / -6 )

"Now SNL is making fun of my chosen political allegiance boo whoo" "They are meany bo beanies and not funny waaaaa"

Want a tissue? I thought it was the liberals painted as being over sensitive......

12 ( +18 / -6 )

Dango bong: "Nobody cares what they think, just entertain us."

He says in the second post on a thread he claims he cares nothing about. Perhaps a third? Trump also doesn't care about SNL, which is why he stays up all night Tweeting angrily about the show and saying they're more of a threat than ISIS. :)

11 ( +16 / -5 )

Dango bong: "I wonder when these "entertainers" will realize people do not care what they think, just want to see them tell jokes and dance"

Okay, so that's three times you've had to insist you "don't care". Fourth coming next?

10 ( +13 / -3 )

I wonder when these "entertainers" will realize people do not care what they think,

I'm sorry, Trump supporters really shouldn't complain about "entertainers" knowing their place... I'm assuming you're a Trump supporter because of your bunched panties.

just want to see them tell jokes and dance

As long as the jokes aren't about the people you like? Political satire has always existed in places with a free media that's not afraid to be critical.

Ivanka's relationship w/her father is borderline incestuous. From the way she posed in pictures with him at a young age to Trumps' lascivious gaze/groping when introducing her during the campaign.

Americans who voted for Trump should be ashamed of themselves for electing a president with a history of serial sexual abuse and is a pathological liar.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

You're the one that said it...

The Reagan administration was one of the most corrupt in history by the way. Look it up yourself and don't just listen to what the Republicans tell you.

Obama wasn't perfect, but hardly the worst either. I think it's funny that the right demeans his community organizer background. As if trying to help your community is some laughable pursuit.

Actually Hillary was overflowing with experience, why did she lose?

She lacks charisma and likability. But she didn't actually lose with the majority of voters...

(DNC rigging, bribes from big companies)

DNC rigging was bad. So are bribes from big companies, but the Democrats don't have anything on the Republicans. They only get a fraction of what Republicans get.

I guess Americans prefer a reality star over a corrupt politician

Again the majority didn't choose Trump, but they got a corrupt reality star anyway.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

too bad they didn't let Bernie have a shot, I would have voted for him and he would have destroyed Trump

Finally something we can agree on. The DNC chose the wrong candidate, and unfortunately it doesn't seem like the establishment Dems have learned their lesson. Bernie's still kicking and fighting though.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Lefty hypocrisy. Typical. Complain about being mistreated and then do the same.

When does the left complain about being mistreated? Are you talking about minorities, women, LGBT? Because it's a fact that they've lacked rights historically.

We live in the age of 'attack the white people'.

Don't forget the war on men and Christmas. Because being a white Christian male in America is such a struggle. Wah, wah... Give me a break. Typical whining from the right.

That`s right an entertainer. Silly silly.

Again, it's the right that ridicules entertainers while being the party that elects more of them as politicians and even president. That's when you use the word "hypocrisy" by the way. I don't have a problem with entertainers if they're serious and know what they're talking about.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

and the bash all aspects of Trump is getting a bit much if Trump wasnt such a manchild with deluded policies then SNL wouldnt have any material to air, but is it stands now SNL writers are basically not needed since Trump is making it up all on his own . LOL I love their shirtless Putin impersonator

6 ( +6 / -0 )

SNL so lame anymore. Can you imagine the backlash had they made fun of Michelle Obama? Unwatchable anymore..

SNL is the high point of comedy once again. Absolutely hilarious. I haven't seen the latest skit.

Michelle Obama was so plain vanilla, there wasn't much to say about her that was funny. The only attempts at humor was crass racism, which isn't funny.

But, Ivanka.... She is fair game for trying to market her own name, say she is grounded, and having reality be different from what she says.

Trump made his name and his presidency by being a public spectacle and not on the substance of his message. It was all catch phrases.

If Trump and his cohorts were not so out there and in people's faces with their lies and absurdity, there would be nothing for comedians to joke about. I am not sorry for all the attention they have received by the masses. I am just sorry the masses gave them their attention.

I for one never liked Trump as an entertainer or businessman. Nothing he says makes sense or is a lie to pander to an audience. He is just another flim-flam man, and I usually tune them out. As a president, I don't have a choice in tuning him out.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

and the fact that the children, no matter how old, are not the ones who made the choice that their parents go into politics.

Besides being a grown woman, Ivanka was fully on-board and actively campaigned and helped her father get into office. She still helps run her father's businesses, promotes her own business, etc. despite the obvious conflicts of interest. That's why she's fair game, which incidentally is the point of the comedy sketch mentioned in the article. She's complicit.

Age hasn't been an issue before and it shouldn't now.

You think it's ok to make jokes on national TV about twelve-year-old kids who aren't seeking the limelight? Classy.

Again, hypocritical.

Well yeah, when you apply false equivalency to everything, everything looks hypocritical.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

@zengohan. They actually did. Search " The Rock Obama" on YouTube, it's hilarious. Also, there was a movie with Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum, forgot the name, but Foxx played the President and many critics said it was like a caricature of Obama. I saw it some time ago and I totally agree. Politicians, just like other celebrities, tend to be target of such jokes in tv shows, movies, talk shows, stage performances, etc. It goes with the fame. If such joke makes her take some steps to promote women's rights, that's fine, but as a celebrity, she'll probably just brush it aside, and focus on what's important for her.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

You must be fuming with Trump then. What does a reality show entertainer know about politics, am I right?

4 ( +7 / -3 )

The DNC chosing a candidate is wrong in the first place. Democrats have become elitists instead of listening to their members who want money out of politics. Still they chose elitists like Clinton instead of populists.

Because populists are MAD, DangoBong, and appeal to the worst traits in people. In the US you have Trump, in the UK Farage crawled to the surface. There's Duterte in the Philippines... la Pen in France... everywhere you look there are populists crawling out of the woodwork, feeding on people's fears and insecurities. The world needs steady, experienced hands at the controls, not nutters hell-bent on turning the clock back to the bad old days when reason and free thinking were seen as reactionary traits.

Back to the topic at hand and if you think SNL is cruel, then you've seen nothing until you've seen the old British series "Spitting Image"... that took the pi$$ out of everyone and anyone: the Queen, mad killer robot Maggie Thatcher and her cabinet of freaks, actors, politicians in general, the Pope, God... anyone and everyone. And it was popular. One politician even asked for his puppet. No crybabies stamping their feet and moaning about being lampooned.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

and the fact that the children, no matter how old, are not the ones who made the choice that their parents go into politics. Age hasn't been an issue before and it shouldn't now.

Ivanka is more than happy to step into the spotlight and deserves any roasting she gets. You know who DIDN'T step into the spotlight when her dad was present? Chelsea. And the Bush kids. They had no choice to be there when minors. Ivanka is not a minor, doesn't need to be involved but she's always there and always speaking o the media. Ivanka is playing a very silly game. She's going on and on about feminism when men like her father are the biggest threat to women out there.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Huh, really? So why is she successfully helping run her dads business? I guess MrBum should run right over to the Attorney General and inform him he's doing his job wrong!

What?

alrighty then, maybe MrBum needs to scroll up and see that that was my argument.

Sorry if I misunderstood. Your arguments and points are kind of all over the place and don't come across very clearly.

gotta hand it to the histrionic left.

It's you and others seemingly on the right who are getting worked up about a comedy sketch...

4 ( +4 / -0 )

@pointofview

Sorry, women, LGBT and minorities deserve no special rights.

Agreed. They deserve the same rights, something they haven't always had. Fighting for equal rights isn't just "complaining about being mistreated" as you said. And incidentally, conservatives (i.e., the right) have been on the wrong side of history and resisted movements for the equal rights in almost every instance.

Yes, Mrbum, you have become an apologist for racism coming from non whites and non christians.

Nope. I don't have a problem with white people. I have a problem with white people who cry about losing the privileged status they've held for so long and still essentially hold.

Irrelevant if the majority of people didnt vote Trump. Thats not the system.

It's completely relevant when Trump and his supporters try to overstate his victory to make a point.

And just think, I`m not even a Conservative and feel this way.

And yet you started this conversation with the comment, "Lefty hypocrisy."

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Sorry Marie, Ivanka made her name in fashion well before her father was elected.

Wrong. She rode his coattails and THAT allowed her to even get a seat at the table in fashion.

And exactly HOW is Trump a threat to women? He has named several to important posts. I guess you are unaware that attacks on women and minorities is up because of him okay certain behaviour. If you can't see how someone thinks he can "grab em by the pussy" isn't a threat, I would have to guess you're clueless and/or ignorant.

Lets face it, you don't like him on a personal level because he doesn't cow down to liberal BS. So you, and SNL etc have decided that smearing the entire family is perfectly OK. I have never met the man so I think it is a bit of a stretch to say I dislike him personally. I don't want anyone to "cow down" to anyone. I believe anyone in power should be worthy of respect and that respect also needs to come from them as well to the people they are in power over.

His family does enough harm to themselves that people don't need to "smear" them.

Well...since there are affirmative action laws I`d say that it is the white man being treated as less of an individual. Hahahahaha! Oh good lord.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

I guess thats only when Micheals agrees with the politics

Or you know, maybe it had something to do with the fact that Chelsea was like twelve.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Her name is Ivanka Trump? Is her pre-existing fashion brand the only reason she isn't Ivanka Kushner?

(Just a joke, lighten up everyone.)

2 ( +3 / -1 )

An article about something that happened on SNL and no link to view it... Not much point of the article, no?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Back on topic please. Posts that do not focus on the story will be removed.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

goreme - you lost. chisisenko - must agree with you - the quality is no longer there.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

So many posters here claiming they don't care about what SNL has to say, and yet by posting here they prove that they do actually care.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Overall, “SNL” viewership for the season to date is up 19% in adults 18-49 (3.5 vs. 2.9 rating) and up 22% in total viewers (10.6 million vs. 8.7 million) over the comparable period in the 2015-16 season. This marks the show’s strongest ratings performance in 22 years, since the 1994-95 season. So contrary to Trumps belief , SNL is still funny and attracting more viewers mainly due to Trump himself LMFAO.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Never seen the show it's locked down for outside the US

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@MrBum. It would have been pretty funny to see the rock or someone dress up like michelle obama and have people keep trying to ask if that's a guy or something or have obama act completely different behind doors. South park did it and it was comedy gold

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

@tmarie,

Oh good lord all you want. That`s the truth. Sorry, all have the same rights.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Years ago when Clinton was in office, Mike Myers did a skit poking fun at daughter Chealsea.

The producer Lorne Michaels ordered Myers write a personal letter of apology and the skit was shelved because, as Michaels stated, the children of Presidents were off-limits.

I guess thats only when Micheals agrees with the politics

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

SNL today is just hateful.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Perso I found political cartoons much more powerful/funny/classy/clever than TV comedy a la SNL which quickly becomes vulgar and cheap. Love puppet shows though.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Remember the early days of SNL when the quality was there. The days of John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin, Steve Martin, and so many others. Contemporary scripting seems to be on the tards level.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

With all the free media attention you can bet Ivanka''s clothing line will only get more popular.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

I think it's funny that the right demeans his community

I am a registered Democrat

She lacks charisma and likability. But she didn't actually lose with the majority of voters...

too bad they didn't let Bernie have a shot, I would have voted for him and he would have destroyed Trump

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Or you know, maybe it had something to do with the fact that Chelsea was like twelve.

Just like Rosie O'Donell publicly suggesting his young 10 year-old son autistic.

Outraged liberals are shameless.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

I smell a defamation lawsuit of YUUUUGE proportions coming. Ivanka is a private citizen.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

@Mrbum,

Well...since there are affirmative action laws I`d say that it is the white man being treated as less of an individual. Once again, these groups are subject to the same laws as a white male.

You`d have to prove that a white man got a job simply because they are a white man to prove that they are more privileged.

No. They just say they won the election. Thats it.

Yes. Thankfully I look at the issues and just dont blindly side with a group. But it is the left group going on about everything. To the point where they come across as being sneaky, loud mouths and violent. I never came across any of thing of this nature from the conservs when Obama won.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

She still helps run her father's businesses, promotes her own business, etc. despite the obvious conflicts of interest. That's why she's fair game, which incidentally is the point of the comedy sketch mentioned in the article. She's complicit.

gotta hand it to the histrionic left. They are a pleasure to watch when Trump Just. Keeps. Winning!

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

@mrbum,

Sorry, women, LGBT and minorities deserve no special rights. The same law applies to all. If an individual is a xenophobe or racist that`s a different story. But the law is the same for all.

Yes, Mrbum, you have become an apologist for racism coming from non whites and non christians. Your wawa point is typical of double standard speak. Trashy.

Irrelevant if the majority of people didnt vote Trump. Thats not the system. LA and NYC would run the country of so. Electoral is much better for equal say. Quit whining cuz your party lost.

And just think, I`m not even a Conservative and feel this way.

DNC should not be chosing, the people should and the people want money out of politics, not corporate puppets like Hillary

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

SNL is not that funny any more. and the bash all aspects of Trump is getting a bit much.

-10 ( +7 / -17 )

SNL ceased to be funny a long time ago. Remember when they mocked Malia Obama? Or the incessant mocking of BO? Me, neither.

-10 ( +6 / -16 )

What does a reality show entertainer know about politics, am I right?

About the same as Reagan I guess. So I guess Obama's experience as a "community organizer" made him a great Prez? Actually Hillary was overflowing with experience, why did she lose? (DNC rigging, bribes from big companies) I guess Americans prefer a reality star over a corrupt politician

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

The writers and "comedians" on SNL have deteriorated from being snarky to just being hateful. Sorry, but hate isn't funny. I stopped watching when their extreme bias became so blatant in the early 90's. Hypocrites.

-11 ( +3 / -14 )

Trump supporters really shouldn't complain about "entertainers" knowing their place

I am not a Trump supporter, just tired of entertainers thinking they have political sway

-11 ( +3 / -14 )

if these jesters' opinions and endorsements meant anything maybe they would have won the election. Nobody cares what they think, just entertain us.

-12 ( +6 / -18 )

Lefty hypocrisy. Typical. Complain about being mistreated and then do the same. We live in the age of 'attack the white people'.

@Mrbum, That`s right an entertainer. Silly silly.
