no idea who he is and dont want to

He and Martha Stewart are friends.
Snoop is a phenomena. I don't know why. He has "something" undefinable and likeable. He knows what he is and is good with that. He'd be on my top 5 people to party with in the world. I'd love to have some chicken and waffles with him.
I don't even like rap.
His work at the Olympics has been extremely fun, entertaining and informative. Snoop is at all the events supporting Team USA - win, lose, get cut - he's there providing support. He was dancing in the stands of the women's gymnastics .... then the USA gymnasts saw him and started dancing with him. It was a great moment of joy by both sides. Snoop was just there doin' his tang, supportin' his girls. He didn't expect any of the competitors to notice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy0O6m9fTcQ
Snoop isn't universally liked, but pretty close. In 2018, he got serious about religion. He always seems to have a smile and shares it with everyone. Peace and love.
Perhaps it is an American thing to appreciate Snoop? IDK. I'd be hard pressed to name any other rapper who I respect. Most seem to be thugs or out for money and nothing else. Not Snoop.

Anyone who doesn't know who Snoop is, is.. um.. weird.
He's been part of the cultural landscape for over 30 years. Of course, weirdos will not have noticed.

"Puff Piece" Personified! LOL

If Snoop was promoting it, I hope their "plant based menu" included a space cake donut.
Wasabi
For you maybe...
BTW why is he link to the Olympics or even sports?

I generally hate "c..Rap" music with a passion but I make an exception for Snoop D. Not sure why or how but I like the guy!

@wasabi--he was there as an all-around commentator/hype man working for NBC. He may have earned the job for his funny take on dressage, aka horse dancing, in 2021.
This time around, he provided improv takes on sports like badminton that I would argue were much closer to the players thoughts than the average commentator. He vocalized their thoughts in jargon free simplicity: I want it over here. No, I want it over here. Now its up in the sky.

Snoop had a different athlete's face on his t-shirt daily to highlight those athletes. He tried to keep the focus on the athletes. I have a few complaints about NBC coverage, but none about Snoop.

NBC did a great job especially adding Snoops sarcastic broadcasting for those who tuned in for events that are not normally popular he brought them to life, events that people didn't care about they paid attention just because of his presence and knowing he would say something funny. He will definitely make you laugh. I personally know him as a person father, grandfather and family man don't let the persona fool you, he is a good person very approachable and he loves kids.

NBC did pay him $500,000 per day. For that kind of money he's going to be engaged and in the thick of things.
On the other hand, Flavor Flav paid his own way and even sponsors USA Water Polo.

Who's had more fun in the Olympics than Snoop?! Lol
A lot of people think he's a cool guy
He's got the cool creds
theFu
That's rumored, but could be true. Getting paid is a bonus. Snoop clearly loves the Olympics and his joy showed through. He got access to places and events he's never get with just money either. I don't think he was faking any of his "passionate spectator" vibe.
If someone paid you $500K per day to do something you love, wouldn't you do it too?
Don't forget, he provided commentary for 2021 Olympics too, but he wasn't allowed to be there due to COVID.
