Desperate voice actors will hurt the rest of the industry.

I can see the benefit getting on the ground floor of contracting your voice for AI use. Get maybe a royalty per project it’s used for since that’s how the industry will ultimately operate.

But also, studios just pay the actors. Voice actors make shockingly little per project on average outside the biggest names

The response from professional actors has been mixed. Some fear that AI voices could replace all but the most famous human actors if big studios have their way. Others, like Magee, have been willing to give it a try if they're fairly compensated and their voices aren't misused.

Another way to read this is that some professional actors are willing to help studies replace everybody except the most famous people as long as they get immediate compensation now and are given meaningless reassurances that nothing bad will happen.

“How do you populate thousands of planets with walking, talking entities while paying every single actor for every single individual? That just becomes unreasonable at a point,” said Alton, who also sits on the SAG-AFTRA negotiating committee for interactive media.

Well, that is easy, if studios want to do something that is impossibly expensive to do ethically they have two options, do it without giving proper compensation to the actors or they refrain from doing it in the first place.
