I've been immersed in the heavy metal lifestyle ever since I went to see Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult in 1980 at the age of 13. I've seen them all - from Angus and Blackmore to Slayer, Celtic Frost, and Meshuggah. I've partied with Voivod (RIP Piggy) and Corrosion of Conformity among others. I've met Justin Broadrick, Phil Campbell, and Tommy Victor, etc.. Japan has a viable and credible metal scene; everything from doomers Boris, spazpunks Otoboke Beavers, visual goths Dir En Grey, and even the love em/hate em BabyMetal. But I have never been aware of any substantive or relevant contribution to the genre by any act from Korea at any time over the past 40 years I've lived through metal. It doesn't exist and will remain fringe at best.

I never knew J-reggae was a thing. Until I did.

Look forward to discovering K-Metal, always nice to find out about new/niche stuff in the music genres.
