I guess their royalties contracts must have run out.

One should probably not refer to them as, the old spice girls. :D

Seriously "Old Spice" is getting sell out shows

The Spice Girls annoy music snobs.

I like them. I really wanna zigazig ah.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Oh, come on, people! I loathed them in the day, but I wouldn't mind seeing a little zig-a-zig, ah! these days -- it's take me back to my twenties at the very least, to hear it. The fans, and the band, loved this stuff in the day, and who are we to say those days should not be celebrated while we still can?

Let loose a little, and have fun.

They need to change their name to Spice Moms

Music is dead...

A sure sign of ageing is complaining that music is dead.

Girl/boy bands were around long before the Spice Girls.

@Jimizo: but I am still young, and I never liked boybands and girlbands also when I was a teen. Anyway, in my opinion, music started to die in the late 90s/early 2000s. In particular, I don't consider rap, hip hop, trap "music", but sadly this stuff is the most popular kind of "music" today.

My dad said music died after the 1960s.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

My grand-dad said music died when this new-fangled roudy noise called rock 'n roll started

But sadly kids those days liked that type

No Posh No dice. It's like The Beatles without, er, Ringo. Not sure how they can do it without her 'talent'.

Emma Bunton recently revealed on a TV show that the Spice Girls used to occasionally run naked around the corridors of the hotels they were staying in. It was part of some dare activity.

Just in case you were interested.

20 years ago absolutely. Today- I'm steering clear of ANY hotel they're staying at.

They've not done too badly for their age.

As reunions go, I'm waiting for the big one... ABBA....

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Hmmmm....   They were rough first time around.  not sure 20 years has done much to change that.

Plus without Mrs B not really the full "experience"

I’m about the same age as them. They look in better nick than most people my age.

Ageism! Stop discriminating against us fortysomethings!

Oi! I'm in my forties too! Doesn't mean I want to see someone my age running around butt naked anywhere! LOL

I guess the Spice Girls were biggest with teenyboppers, so they'll still be early thirties. Good to know Generation Rent has the money to go!

I wouldn't be surprised if they have a Posh Spice shock comeback scripted for a certain part of the tour. Like when Nigel gets back on the stage with Spinal Tap.

Thinking about it, you’re probably right.

Cheers mate!

They may be older but their music is timeless.  Can't wait to see them out there strutting their stuff and flaunting their slightly older assets.

I am still in my 30s and I don't consider myself that "old". It's about personal taste. During the 90s I was a teenager and I disliked this kind of music anyway.

Backstreet Boys, NSync, 98 degrees, (The Moffats, Hanson..atleast they play instruments)...wowed the late 90s...But...at the same time...there was Blink 182..and other such rock bands wowed the late 90s to early 20s. It was like mix & match music for both pop and rock fans.

Now it's Western pop & Kpop taking all over. Should we blame them, their annoying fans, media or crying rock fans from 60s to 90s.

Same here. When I see a music act, I want to see them PLAY the music. I don't like to see a bunch of lip-synching clods like this bunch, NKOTB, or any of that garbage. No taped music!

BION, I thought Hansen was OK. Yes, they got the girls squealing but they wrote their songs, played them, sang them. Just like that ultra-famous 'cutie' band the Beatles and Duran Duran when I was growing up. Writing and playing your music - is THAT too much to ask for, folks?

It's a genre that has its roots in the 70s. People complained about jazz, rock and roll back in the day, too. Not "proper" music etc.

When I see a music act, I want to see them PLAY the music

Bit difficult when you go to a Bach recital, I'd imagine :-)

There's room for all sorts of music. Even the Spice Girls.

It’s nice but not necessary.

Music snobs tend to like Jimi Hendrix. The only songs I like of his are covers.

Maybe so, but what made Jimi so important was that he revolutionized the way guitarists play, just like Chuck Berry did. And for that matter the same goes for other 'guitar gods' like Dick Dale, the Edge, Johnny Ramone and Eddie Van Halen. They all changed the way a guitar can be played. Note the word 'PLAY'. In the same mode, Bootsy Collins and Lemmy Kilmeister changed the way to play bass, Phil Collins revolutionized drumming and Miles Davis did the same with trumpet playing. Not just stand there looking pretty and lip-synching. Big difference.

What also made Jimi special was that he played guitar the way no one does. He was left-handed guitarist, but due to his dad being anti-left handedness (devil's child), he learned to play both left and right, with the strings upside down when necessary. I challenge anyone to do that. I've been playing guitar for nearly 30 years, and if you gave me a left handed guitar, I'd be at the same beginners level as someone who has never picked up a guitar.
