They join returning “Star Wars” veterans Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. Peter Mayhew is also back as Chewbacca and Kenny Baker will reprise RD-D2.

That's quite a surprise that these guys will return to Star Wars. In particular Hamill and Fisher whose career faded quickly after RotJ. I'm cautiously looking forward to episode VII.

Andy Serkis, Yoda he will play.

great to see Von Sydow participate, but 85 years old, I hope he will not suddenly pass away. Looking forward to see what JJ Abrahms can make of this. He did a great work on Star trek.

Yoda is gone as will be Jar Jar I hope. Original cast is way too old for me too.

Not sure if I am looking forward to it, the new trilogy and Clone wars left a bad aftertaste for me.

I wonder if JJ Abrams is going pull a Star Trek like reset and change the Star Wars timeline and history...

Yoda died remember?

Andy Serkis, I remember him from "The prestige" he's a great actor!

as fro Max von Sydow, he's a veteran, I guess that since they couldn't use Christopher Lee again, they pull Von Sydow, I hope he plays a villain though..

Gleeson looks like he will be the son of Leia and Solo...

Not a surprise for original cast members. If they are following the books the chronological age of the characters is also 30 years older and happens to match the age of the original cast.

Oh well, I guess Asians don't make it into the 24th century. I wonder what happened to us.

Asians don't exist in "A long time agoa Galaxy far, far away". 24th Century this ain't Star Trek

I beg to differ! There are Asians in the SW Galaxy... http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lyn_Me (Ok, Asian Twi'leks then).

A timeline reset is optional. The Jedi Holocron was a complete history of the Jedi.. The Emperor wanted to look at it as did the Jedi Masters. The holocron allows for alterations in the timeline as true fans understand.. there have already been alterations within the timeline. In the original book (not a new hope) but Star Wars and the adventures of Luke Skywalker the Emperor was not the bad guy. There were "lurkers" who controlled him. The lurkers worked on both sides to ensure a constant sate of war. But all of that was too much for explain for a two hour movie. The lurkers has tricked a Sith Emperor Adas into trusting the power of the holocron. The Jedi later relied on its vast knowledge. The holocron employed patterns of organic crystals and hologrammic technology to capture the appearance and cognitive networks of the holocrons owner, and transform this into a hologram. Now the real question remains... to whom was the holocron meant for?

Von Sydow is one of those tough A-class actors that for some reason are old, but NOT really old. Like Clint Eastwood and Christopher Lee. How old is Lee 94? He did all those great classic Dracula films back in the day (still my favorite) and he did LOTR and the Hobbit and is still around, thankfully. He looked great, was very coherent, so given his legacy, I am a firm believer he will be here.

@joicerojo

I guess that since they couldn't use Christopher Lee again

"Count Dooku" died remember? Why would they? How could they?

Aaron Loki - I recommend you leave your parents' basement over Golden Week.

Well there were asians in Star Trek. George Takei. But farther down the timeline, by SW time, I guess we disappear.

Anything produced by Disney, minus a few exceptions, is a travesty...

In 1977, I saw the Original Star Wars as a kid at a Drive-In in a very remote Australian country town. The screen went black and it perfectly matched the blackness of the Australian night with the Milky Way behind the screen. The Big Space ship materialised (can't remember which one exactly) and it was, and it remains one of the most memorable cinematic experiences I've had.

Hope JJ Abrams matches the talent of these heavy weight actors with a superb storyline and FX like the three original episodes were. The last three, they're totally forgettable.

"Count Dooku" died remember? Why would they? How could they?

I meant it in the way they were using and old guy, precisely because Count Dooku died they couldn't use him AGAIN..

JJ seems to have a penchant for using some old actors that people really like, my guess is that he wanted Leonard Nimoy but that would mess star wars....
