nobody cares what actors and actresses think. moreover I think it is interesting how cheap skit shows like Saturday Night Live pounce to bash Republican Presidents but did not even mention this scandal or Democratic scandals.
And you wonder why all the entertainment industry endorsements failed to elect Hillary? It is because nobody cares what they think, they are not the elite they used to be
Dwight Rider
I get a real guffaw out of this kind of thing. It is like people in the oldest business in the world complaining about a draft when the door is opened. I mean, these people are "in the business," and they really pretend that they do not know what goes on?
Toasted Heretic
If nobody cared; you'd not be commenting here. Besides, what does all that have to do with the sexual predator, Weinstein?
Blacklabel
So why is it that Obama and Hillary have nothing to say about this and haven't disavowed this person and returned his donations? They must be ok with what he has done.
bosphorus
Weinstein is a dirty pig who is playing the anti-semitism card whenever he doesn't want to admit to his crimes. He is not prosecuted only because he is wealthy and influential. If he was poor, he would be rotting in jail already.
wtfjapan
So why is it that Obama and Hillary have nothing to say about this and haven't disavowed this person and returned his donations? They must be ok with what he has done. probably the same reason why Trump supporters didn't disavow their commander in chiefs pussy grabbing
Blacklabel
Yes because Trump talked about it and Weinstein DID it. so why haven't they disavowed and returned the money?
Blacklabel
I also find it strange that none of these people above had anything to say until Weinstein was actually fired. Now that it's "allowed" to speak out there is a flood of comments.
Toasted Heretic
Do you also find it strange when victims of sexual abuse come forward with their experiences of being harassed etc by rich and powerful males they are often disbelieved and doubted by people?
Nessie
I think it is interesting how cheap skit shows like Saturday Night Live pounce to bash Republican Presidents but did not even mention this scandal or Democratic scandals.
Jimmy Fallon had a bit on it. Give it a week, at least.
clamenza
What incredible hypocrisy (again) by these brainless actors and actresses who have been bashing Trump.
It turns out Weinstein’s predatory nature was the worst kept secret in Hollywood. They all knew what he was doing and kept quiet like the charlatans they are.
Once again, it’s do as I say, not as I do.
FizzBit
The bigger scandal ignored by the MSM is Wasserman Schultz and Imran Awan who apparently wiped his phone clean, no not with a cloth, a few hours before being arrested at an airport trying to flee the country.
clamenza
except he hasn’t played that card at all. I’ve just googled his name and didn’t see any such info. He has fully admitted to the accusations.
Blacklabel
No, I dont. If something like that happens to you, you have the responsibility to report it. The people who didnt simply chose their career and took his money to be silent, so I have no sympathy for their choice.
But I also find it strange that Donna Karan can say that maybe they asked for it?, support Weinstein and talk about what a wonderful people he and his wife are. If a conservative ever said such about a person even falsely accused of such a crime, that person would be crucified in the media.
Hillary is still actively tweeting today but this doesnt seem to be on her radar somehow.
clamenza
Reckless - what happened last month and last year that was so special?
ulysses
Err, Hmmm, NYT broke the story, did Fox and Friends forget to report that?
clamenza
Ulysses - worst kept secret in Hollywood. You can bet they sat on it for years. If his name were that of a conservative , it would have come out long ago.
You need a little less HuffPost in your diet.
ulysses
If only Weinstein has been caught confessing to his deeds on camera, he could have dismissed it as locker room talk and all of us could have just forgotten it.
Instead the trashy, failing MSM had to break the story, Weinstein had to confess to his misdeeds and the liberals had to condemn it!!!
I've heard the The Art of the deal will soon have a chapter 'How to grope women, admit it in public and still get away with it'.
MrBum
You mean conservatives like Roger Ailes and Bill O'Reilly? Because they didn't get away with it for years?
clamenza
MrBum - yet none have pressed charges, and all have been denied. Many could have passed charges in the past year when it would have done the most damage, yet they haven't. Why not?
Fact is, the hypocritical Hollywood left always pontificate that they are better and more virtuous. But the entire town kept this a secret. Say what you want about Fox, but they found out the problem and fired their people after an in-house investigation, they didn't wait for a third party to expose themselves.
Toasted Heretic
Yup. Liberal or left, conservative or rabidly right wing - the predators are exposed.
And what of their victims - oh, the usual. Why do it now? Why didn't they come forward earlier etc.
The power and influence of rich people can cover up all manner of wrong doing.
viking68
Face it, it is all a big conspiracy.
Weinstein, a creep with money and influence with who gets a job (a career) in movies. This dude financed films and could make or break you in the movie industry.
Trump, a creep with money and influence on the laws that govern people. This dude leads a nation and has the nuclear codes. He can break the world.
No real difference there at all.
The "casting couch" is a [black] joke for a reason. We expect that to some extent, but it is good to see Weinstein getting his due. Now if only politicians like Trump would get what is due them, but there are too many apologists out there and the Russian government.
clamenza
Like the ultra rich and powerful Harvey Weinstein?
Toasted Heretic
Exactly what I was saying in my post. Here:
Yup. Liberal or left, conservative or rabidly right wing - the predators are exposed.
And what of their victims - oh, the usual. Why do it now? Why didn't they come forward earlier etc.
The power and influence of rich people can cover up all manner of wrong doing.
MrBum
"Many" being a key word. Most of them didn't gain anything for coming forward either, so it's their word against the guy who bragged about grabbing p when he thought no one was listening. Do you honestly doubt Trump is capable of the actions he's been accused of?
Hypocritical left? Are you kidding me? What about the "virtuous" Christian values peddled by right-wing Fox News as their head of programing and top anchor were making unwanted sexual advances on women? Since when was Hollywood a single entity and when did it ever claim to be virtuous?
The lawsuits filed by the victims of the sexual harassment exposed them. I guess you could call that in-house, but that's being pretty generous. Why so generous when it comes to Fox/POTUS? Hollywood actresses are exposing Hollywood abuse. What's the difference?
The fact is, sexual harassment and men abusing their positions of power isn't a Hollywood problem, it's a most societies of the world problem. It's been a problem for a really long time, and only recently have women come far enough to feel comfortable talking about it. Most true progressives on the left see it that way. You're the one that seems selective in your condemnation.
Toasted Heretic
It certainly is. Seems some people are poised ready to believe it when it's Catholics or Muslims abusing but if it comes to the likes of Trump (a Hollywood person, if ever there was one) it's all unproven, nothing to see, move along etc.
clamenza
So you've just contradicted yourself. You say power and influence can cover up anything, yet one of the most powerful and influential people in Hollywood just got exposed.
Yikes.
Toasted Heretic
This is getting tiresome.
If you're unable to follow an argument where you claim Hollywood left cover up and Hollywood right don't and I counter said claim positing that all sides can be exposed whilst some (on both sides) get away with it...
Well, yikes. Indeed.
Blacklabel
Well some of the late night TV hosts were finally cleared to do their obligated one joke before they let this drop. 1 managed to try to slam Fox News as he made the supposed "Weinstein joke". Nice job late night hosts. Now back to Trump bashing.
Strangerland
Heh, whines when they don't say anything, whines when they do.
Blacklabel
No they should not have to be shamed into speaking. Also should not have to wait to get cleared that it is ok to speak about it.
ulysses
The problem with right wing nutters is that they paint anybody who doesn't agree with them as left. The problem is that the Trump apologists are so far to the right anything other than them is left.
The so called left, liberal MSM media exposed this scandal and more than a few of the liberals have come out an condemned this man. His career is over and there is little prospect of a resurrection.
clamenza
Isn't it curious that all the Hollywood left-wing pontificators who admonish Trump for being nothing more than a dog, remained silent all these years when Weinstein was the most notorious predator in Hollywood.
Meryl Streep claims she had "no idea" of the worst kept secret in Hollywood.
Interesting, that.
bass4funk
Most of Hollywood and the entire entertainment industry are left, that's a fact.
Thank God!
But on a serious note, this has been going on with Weinstein for over 30 years even when I was at NBC back in the 90's there were rumors floating around, but at the time, they were just rumors, but a lot of people had their suspicions then and now it's come boiling to the surface. Even big wigs like Damon, the Affleck brothers and Crowe back in 2004 tried hard to stop a story from being printed about Weinstein and even Rose McGowan is calling these guys out for trying to hide it, the Obama's and Clinton's didn't comment on it or even paid the money back that was given by Weinstein.
When Bill O'Reilly and Roger Ailes and Eric Bolling were accused of sexual abuse, the left came so unglued it caused a seismic shift in Burbank and Lisa Bloom the vulture went talons after them as hard as she could and then the shoe is on the other foot and a big one at that and now Bloom as giving Weinstein legal advice and tried to support him?
The hypocrisy on the left is so out of control and off the charts, the double standard is obvious and it's clear, if a conservative is accused of a sexual harassment act, run him out of town, if a lib does it, hide him, back him, protect him.
Unbelievable!
ulysses
Sure, I remember you.
Keeping up with the news, or does Fox and Friends has a delayed reporting schedule?
Wow, is Fox and Friends is so behind? Maybe you should switch channels.
Toasted Heretic
It is unbelievable that powerful men (whatever their political persuasion/religion/skin color) will abuse their position and prey on women. And that these women are fearful to come forward because nobody will believe them.
It's also unbelievable that some men here with no power at all will use this ugly example of abuse to indulge in point scoring. With no thought for the victims of abuse, whatsoever.
ulysses
Those are not the metrics you might want to delve too deeply on, if we start comparing responses, their content and the time it takes for each one to come through, you will end up losing or have a zero sum game at the least.
As I said before Weinstein is finished, he probably will never harass or molest anyone again.
Luddite
Ah, the usual victim blaming appears.
"Why didn't any of the women come forward before?" Some of the women did come forward and were shut down by Weinstein and his other rich, powerful male friends. Why come forward and risk ridicule, blame and have your career stymied when other women weren't believed. One went to police and later recorded a conversation with Weinstein who didn't deny he touched her, but nothing happened to him.
Many men refuse to believe the real daily, continual problem of sexual harassment and abuse women and girls off all ages, cultures and backgrounds experience. It's happened to me, to colleagues, friends, family. if you do come forward you are rarely taken seriously and often branded a liar or trouble maker.
The sad thing is this kind of behaviour will not stop unless men who don't do these vile things support and speak out for those who are harassed. Men are believed and listened to, women are not.
Toasted Heretic
Exactly. As long as women continued to be blamed for what has been done to them; people like Weinstein and other rich, powerful men will be free to do as they please.
It looks like his downfall has rapidly accelerated and will never work in Hollywood again. Good.
Blacklabel
It's Hollywood. They will change the company name and he will go to rehab. Assuming he isn't jailed, he will be back within a year.
ulysses
A bit different from politics I guess.
There you don't have to change anything, in fact you can even brag that you got away with it.
Strangerland
Heh righties freaking out that people didn't take accusations against Weinstein seriously, while in turn saying that accusations of sexual harassment against Trump should not be taken seriously.
And then they try to pretend like the left is the side playing team politics.
Hypocrites.
Moderator
Readers, Trump is not relevant to this discussion.
Toasted Heretic
Care to make a wager on that assumption?
Blacklabel
He has already fled the USA to go to "rehab" in Europe. TMZ is reporting he and his team are negotiating how he can be involved from the "outside", so yep.
Toasted Heretic
So; not back within Hollywood, then?
Strangerland
It's weird how some right-wingers seem to be attacking the left for this guy, when the left is not only not defending the guy, most are condemning him.
Don't they realize that the left isn't the right, and therefore will not protect accused sexual predators? We don't tolerate that in our people, not even leaders.
Toasted Heretic
Aye. Strange business, is politics.
The sexual predator is finished and rightly so. I don't see anyone here, of any political bent, defending him.
But some people see what they want to see.
wtfjapan
from that logic then Trump must have diplomatic immunity even before he became POTUS
viking68
Oh, I missed the off the charts drama from you.
The public likes to see a bad guy taken down, and they enjoy even more seeing hypocrite get taken down.
Weinstein was not a hypocrite. He was the prototypical rich producer/predator and obvious about it. He is being attacked now because his power and influence is a lot less than it used to be. He should have been stopped much earlier, but at least he is being stopped now.
Cosby, Ailes, O'Reilly, Trump, that congressman who wanted his mistress to have an abortion? All are hypocrites and huge targets. They were attacked mainly because women had enough or there was a hit piece based on truth. What is the saying about glass houses??? Don't run around naked??? No, that's not it.
Trump actually fits in both lists. He is a prototypical rich predator, and he is a hypocrite who tries to impose his voter's ethics on others. (because he doesn't have any ethics).
Strangerland
Go figure, left me has an understanding of how the left things.
Who wudathunkit.

Is this a new "Coming out" phase in American History... we had "The coming out of the Closet" for Same Sex persons, and now, ... "The Coming out of the bathrobe" ? for Sexually obsessed Movie execs ? Whatever next ?
This all appears to be a current day fad/trend, why hadn't it been raised at the time when it happened ?
Toasted Heretic
Yes, sexual assault is a trend. Nothing more than a fad.
Precisely why so many don't come forward, with observations like that.
Jason Santana
Everyone supposedly knew the character of this guy. Some probably even knew what he did. They should be thrown in jail along with this guy.
Toasted Heretic
Conspiracy or gulit by association?
Does your stance apply to all the peers of sexual offenders?
bass4funk
Yeah, right. It wasn’t until TMZ and FNC and broke the story that the other networks broke with it, NBC (not surprised at all) was as usual late to the party. This has been going on for years, but people like Damon, Affleck, Crowe paid money to try and bury a story about this guy back in 2004! People are now coming out because everyone in Hollywood knows this guy is one of THE most powerful producers there is and they know about the repercussions and ramifications if they go public with any assault charge against Weinstein and many more are still terrified to come forward because they think even now, he could make a comeback and then what?
Yes, I’m happy the left is coming out on this, but at the same time, they were dragging their feet with this, but when the accusations of Ailes and O’Reilly and even Trump the media had a meltdown of biblical proportions, but when it happens on the left, virtual silence, yes, it’s coming now, but not with the same vitriol and fury that happens when it’s someone on the right. Lisa Bloom, excoriating O’Reilly for making inappropriate comments and alleged come ons, Weinstein who admitted to foundling and touching women gets a pass the first few days.
Only after the pressure and the light is shining on them. I’m still wondering when The Clinton’s and the Obama’s will return all the donations that Weinstein gave to them. We are all watching if the hypocrisy will continue or will these people do the right thing.
Toasted Heretic
Sexual assault is despicable. It shouldn't be about politics.
bass4funk
You are right and I never gave any of these people a pass, however, more than 5 women (so far) came out and said, Weinstein raped them, which wasn’t the case with Ailes or O’Reilly, they got bounced for much less and it didn’t take but a few days and Bloom to go nuts and to push for the firing of O’Reilly and Ailes, not even close to what Weinstein did, it was disgusting, the guy is mentally sick, but so, so powerful. Crossing him was effectively ending your career on the spot.
Strangerland
It took way longer than for Weinstein. And even after they were let go, so many of your people were still defending them. Where are the defenses of Weinstein? I haven't seen a single one.
bass4funk
No, it took 30 years and even when I was with NBC this guy was already a legend when it comes to the topic of O’Reilly didn’t have anything near that. He was fired this April and when the charges came up a month before, the axe came down swiftly on the guy, what are you talking about, dude.
There are no reports of rape, groping or anything like that, a come on, most definitely, but let’s focus, Lisa Bloom excoriates O’Reilly and Ailes, but decides to give legal counseling to Weinstein and advise him and only after hearing her new book was going to be published did she recuse herself from the guy. This is so typical of the left attack any conservative at any time for whatever reason and protect our own. So why aren’t Myers, Fallon and Kimmel telling jokes about Weinstein, that’s good material for them, they get on Trump, so where’s the equal fairness in condemnation? Seth MacFarlane to his credit joked about it, but these guys are steering clear of that, but let’s see if they are politically bias or not.
So let’s see if Obama and Clinton will return their donations.
ulysses
Sure, boys will be boys, even if they are 60 years old.
You are unhappy Lisa Bloom gave counsel , you are unhappy because she dropped him!! Make up your mind.
You are unhappy when they make jokes, you are unhappy when they don't!!
At least they didn't say ' I don't think Harvey did anything wrong'
bass4funk
No, I just hate the hypocrisy of that woman. Typical, no need to be surprised.
But everyone knew about Weinstein way back, so if I heard it in the halls of NBC jokingly, then it seem to me that Obama and Michelle as well as the Clinton’s would’ve known about it. Either that or these people don’t get out at all.
ulysses
You are surprised that a lawyer would choose money over ethics?
Maybe if you had worked at Fox , everybody would have know about O Reily
bass4funk
I guess i shouldn’t be.
The accusations about him didn’t go back 30 years and no one came forward about rape charges or him asking women to do sexual acts or him doing sexual acts while asking women to watch. Again, not dismissing the alleged claims, but these are alleged. Weinstein admitted it, huge difference And it seems like more people are coming forward by the day.
ulysses
So if the allegations go back only 20 years does it make the crime any less reprehensible.
Because one only touched and the other squeezed, is one lesser guilty than the other?
You are trying to defend the indefensible.
MrBum
Please... Where do you get your information? Here's one conservative woman's observations on the vast difference in response between the right and left when it comes to this issue.

This is the current symbolism for the Democrat Party - Harvey Weinstein. UGH.
