I remember him and Eydie. They made quite a stellar and classy duo team on TV when I was a kid. And I'm Gen X, the post-punk generation. I remember them fondly. And as for their musical identity they were better off NOT being 'Rick Nelson' who was a bit on the nerdy side anyway (to me). They didn't make a sickening farce like Pat Boone's 'heavy metal' exercise in the 90s (*stay ***far away** from that CD!) . At least they were REAL to themselves and everyone else. That's what counts. Another icon has passed us by. RIP. Now he and Eydie can sing, harmonize and jam with the angels today.

I remember seeing him on The Love Boat and here and there in the 70s. I always found Steve Lawrence to be a really nice affable guy but never really liked his music.
