Or . . . how about just turning it off for awhile and doing something else. Maybe go outside and sit for awhile listening to the birds. Or talk to your neighbors. Play games with your children. Take your dog on a walk in your favorite park. Maybe read a book. Pull the old guitar out of the closet and tune it up and annoy the above-mentioned family and neighbors. Try cooking a dish for that special someone tonight. Or look up a friend that you haven't heard from for awhile, just to say hello.

Most of these are not relevant to Japan

I have more than one streaming service and don't necessarily often watch all of them. The "problem" is that some offer a particular series I would like to watch, while others offer another. For the cost of renting them you can basically get the channel for a year, streamed, so why not? I just wish there was not so much Japanese garbage content required for them to operate here. Hulu used to be great until they agreed to 50% J-content, now even the app is a nightmare to navigate (like YahooJapan or something).

True, but then there are a couple here not relevant to others, and you can assume the situation is similar.
