Support banner fails to make it to Japan premiere for 'Pirates'

Actress Yumiko Shaku, 32, singer-actress Anna Tsuchiya, 27, and singer Hideki Saijo, 56, participated in the Japan premiere of “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” starring Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz, at Roppongi Hills on Tuesday night. However, a banner expressing support for Japan following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, and which was supposed to be delivered to the Japan premiere, failed to reach Tokyo on time due to an airport strike at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris.

The banner had been traveling with the movie as it made its way around the world to various cities for premieres. Depp and Cruz both wrote messages on the banner to express their condolences and support for affected areas.

Shaku, Tsuchiya and Saijo saved the moment by quickly replacing the banner with a new one and writing their own messages. Shaku wrote “We are all one” in English.

The original banner will arrive in the earthquake-stricken areas in June.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” opens in theaters in Japan on Friday.

LOL. Yeh, I'm sure it was these three who arranged for the replacement banner. What nonsense. Another contrived event with J-celebs who have absoluetly no connection to the movie. But the press eats it up anyway.

The banner may come around this week or next weeks with spiritual messages and supports from all casting crews of the movie production team. Actual works soon are demonstrated in following days. We are all one as Shaku wrote on her team's creative work.

Dreadful to think that someone might have mistakenly believed that the Pirates of the Caribbean movie simply doesn't care about the plight of the tsunami survivors. Please do tell us when the banner arrives and begins its very important work in lifting the spirits of the afflicted by personally touring the affected areas.

All three Japanese PR promoters look great. Shaku is hot and internationally communicative for her job. Collaboration and team-work can be simplified by their creative on-fly efforts. Thanks Shaku. A team work can completed by many members, but a personal affair or love life, one-to-one is a solid model. Shaku fits her mission. We are all one in a team work, and all one in a marriage life if she is already settle down with her husband.

Shaku is hot, plus she can speak English.

Sarge? Is speaking English an advantage for any woman, or is it an advantage only for hot women...

Interesting that the banner wasn't able to fly around the world in a day so it will now take at least two weeks. Is someone holding it hostage?

I'm glad to see that Saijo Hideki is still a vibrant celebrity and popular on the "red carpet" in Japan. I remember swooning over him when he first became a super star over 30 years ago when I was still a young girl. Ahhhh - the sweetness of youth!!
