Kei Aran, 38, former top star in the popular Takarazuka Revue, has branched out from her roots and will be starring in the new musical "AIDA." The actress, who retired from the famous all-female theatrical troupe in April, attended a press conference for the performance, wearing a sleek black dress.
"This is the first time I've worn a dress in decades," said the actress, who became famous for her male roles in the group's performances. In her new musical, Aran will again play Aida, the first female role she ever played, and one she was revered for during her Takarazuka days.
"I'm so happy to have my first performance be a character I absolutely love."
"AIDA" will be performed at Tokyo International Forum from August 29 - September 13, and at Osaka's Umeda Art's Theater from September 18 - October 4.

Kei Aran looks polished confident, professional. A totally different image compared with Anza, who is the one looking uncomfortable in a dress!
