Of course a movie like 'Cuties' will raise eyebrows in the conservative South. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the one movie that has always defined Texas and its sensibilities for me. Apart from all those Clint Eastwood and John Wayne westerns.

"Cuties," called "Mignonnes" in French, earned director Doucoure an award at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival.

Given this award and the fact that it is French, means that it it is an arts film and that we should take the crestors' statements of intent at face value - it is unlikely to be gratuitous or for erotic pleasure.

The protests in Texas, where probably no one has seen it, are clearly religiously based, and not related to the message in the movie

As for Senator Cruz, he was the one option I feared more than Trump - a religious zealot as the world's most powerful man.

That statement stopped being true about 40 years ago.

So did the pedophile feeding frenzy righteous of Texas object to TV shows featuring underage girls used like ho’s in junior beauty pageants?

Let me help you out here... NO.

The Mother State speaks. Where is the Father State?

Only in America can this be news. Can't understand why it's here, on JT. Who gives a sh*t, except maybe bass4funk?

And he's no bass player, by the way.

I remember a similar stink about the film 'Last Temptation of Christ' in 1988 and those zealots howled about it, claiming it had disgusting quotes by Jesus that weren't even in the film. I saw it and while theologians could haggle and nitpick a-plenty it was never the blasphemous bombshell these fanatic loudmouths said it was.

Yes. What about those sick exploitative pageants of those very underage girls for every stupid cause/reason in order to raise $ for the parents? Father-daughter dances? These idiots need to look at themselves before shooting their mouths off like they're noted for.

It's on here on Japan's Netflix...It's decent film but there's more to it.. The main character is Muslim. Her father just married again (she's very bitter) and she joins a group rebel dance group.. There's no sex in the film just suggestive dancing and a couple of provocative scenes.

She's 12 in the film, I think it would have been less controversial and equally effective is she would have been 16. But all the controversy does is to get more people to watch it....

Well, you know, this is about people from some other country. In Texas, Republicans only dance country line dances while wearing jeans, and nobody has sex, or even thinks about sex, until they are 21. After that, after a year or two of courtship during which they drink sodas and go to G rated movies, people get married and in some cases have sex, but only to procreate. Everything in Texas is very proper. You can see why this film about foreigners is such a shock.

Haven't seen the movie, but it is very interesting that a movie made to condemn the objectification of women and children is targeted by the Republicans as obscene.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

A lot of very outraged proponents of child porn are howling.

If you had told me in 2018 that people would be howling in outrage that child porn was being called out, I wouldn't have believed you.

Things are changing at breakneck speed and I don't know if the west is going to survive it much longer.

Riiight... it "condemns" the objectification of women and children - by objectifying women and children. We should probably start condemning murder by murdering, that seems imminently sensible.

Plz look at my previous post above. These hypocrites are howling so much about the film because it reflects the perversion and rottenness within themselves. They can't stand themselves when they see it so they have to beat the drums of projection. Remember the 'Scarlet Letter' and the Rev. Dimsdale with the carved 'A' on his his belly? And that hateful rotten guy in the town too?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

This was not in Houston, it was in city east of Houston, if any guilty, it the person who watch it the DA that issued the indictment, was the indictment based on him being turned on by the movie

No, they're right, this garbage shouldn't be on TV and as a father who has a daughter I find the exploitation of these girls is revolting and No, I'm not a fan of the pageants either, but yet once again, we are witness to seeing how Hollywood could care less about children even though they want to lecture us about how children should be and act!

You have got to be kidding me??! Where on earth do you get that garbage from. Maybe most men or if you are a father don't like it because they think that could be my kid or maybe the kid is a runaway or on drugs or there are a multitude of reasons why kids would do something like this and I'm not regulating this to movies, also socially.

Yeah, sure or maybe it's the other way around, maybe it's the perverts that dismiss parents that are concerned about this to protect the handlers and the perverts out of sympathetic and liberal humanitarian reasons which is you know what...

and the perverts out of sympathetic and liberal humanitarian reasons which is you know what...

The list of right wing paedophiles is sadly endless.

But let's not go there.

Can you not see that paedophilia is beyond partisan politics? Or is it purely an American thing that every single event/issue has to be down to who you vote for?

For instance; it's my belief that both Clinton and Trump were/are sex offenders in the White House and elsewhere.

Shouldn't you be calling for them BOTH to be locked up?

4 ( +6 / -2 )

If that happened, not good, if it did happen, how do you know it wasn't an accident? How do you know he knew the women were going to be changing at that time, you don't know that and neither do I.

Listen to the perv himself;

in a 2005 appearance on Howard Stern’s show, Trump bragged about doing exactly what the women describe. “I’ll go backstage before a show, and everyone’s getting dressed and ready and everything else,” he said.

His position as the pageant’s owner entitled him to that kind of access, Trump explained, seemingly aware that what he was doing made the women uncomfortable. “You know, no men are anywhere. And I’m allowed to go in because I’m the owner of the pageant. And therefore I’m inspecting it… Is everyone OK? You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. And you see these incredible-looking women. And so I sort of get away with things like that,” he said.

So yes, it happened - often. Regularly. And No, it wasn't an accident. He saw it as an entitlement.

As so many who have a history of getting what they want, incapable of accepting being told "NO".

Goddamit, why does this have to be so confusing for some?

All those victims who have come forward - knowing they will be targeted, villified and threatened - are they all liars/gold diggers?

5 ( +7 / -2 )

The evidence and testimonies of all his victims have been posted here on numerous occasions

Alleged and he denied these allegations.

And each time, you have dismissed them.

Allegations, yes, factual evidence, no

FFS. I sometimes wonder if those who defend the sex pests have an interest beyond their political stance.

I sincerely hope not. Because your repeated defence of these disgusting individuals is hard to fathom, if, as you've stated before, you're not partisan.

Clinton, Trump, whoever - they deserve to be scrutinized. Seriously.

They do, but with Clinton, we have the blue dress with his DNA and with Trump we have allegations and he said, she said mystery...

Numbers add up. Harvey Weinstein's allegations add up. R Kelly's track record spans light-years. 62 different women on Bill Cosby. It adds up.

OTOH, I never believed the 2 allegations on ex-Pres. George Bush would fly. When you're POTUS everyone has their eye on you. Same goes for that Ottawa accuser who said Simon Le Bon assaulted her at a duran Duran CD signing in full view of everyone, in 1995. That's a bad attempt on gold digging.

However, 99.99% of these allegations are real.

This movie is nowhere near child porn. Anyone saying it is child porn has several screws loose. I am so glad to no longer live in the U.S. and have to deal with this insanity face to face. America needs to build a wall and stay in it.

Perfect.

That’s one opinion out of a few million that say otherwise.

That’s one opinion out of a few million that say otherwise.

Good thing the only opinion that matters is that if SCOTUS. It’s highly unlikely SCOTUS would allow a guilty verdict to stand given it would clearly violate the First Amendment.

This is simply another example of conservatives not understanding constitutional jurisprudence and attempting to erode free speech.

And it might spur you to action to help those underprivileged kids, which is the point of the movie.

Nobody want to protect kiddie fiddlers like Roy Moore. It’s asinine beyond belief to claim liberals do.

Thank God people have the power to cancel their Netflix subscriptions.

So yes, we are using our exercising First amendment rights as well.

This is simply another example of conservatives not understanding constitutional jurisprudence and attempting to erode free speech.

Liberals are the last people forcing this junk on us can’t saying anything when it comes to constitutional jurisprudence.

....or Anthony Wiener..

It’s asinine beyond belief to claim liberals do.

Both sides whether they be conservative or liberal, Democrat or Republican, Jewish or Christian or Muslim, it doesn’t matter, you have perverts and people that will take vantage of children everywhere and they come in all forms of shapes and colors these pedophiles.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Irrelevant to the criminal charges against Netflix being unconstitutional. You live deflecting when you’re demonstrated incorrect.

Liberals are the last people forcing this junk on us can’t saying anything when it comes to constitutional jurisprudence.

Nobody is forcing you to watch this, which you know because you said you can cancel your subscription.

No, it’s relevant because of this smut, a lot of people of canceling their Netflix account, whether it’s unconstitutional is a matter of legal conjecture

Nobody is forcing you to watch this

Of course not and until Netflix stops with this program, they’re going to lose a lot more money

which you know because you said you can cancel your subscription.

Not just me.

Out of all the programs Netflix has created over the years, this was the worst decision the company could make, until they listen to the growing majority of viewers that once this show canceled, Amazon and Hulu will be the better option to go, they have the right to express themselves under the first amendment and so do we.

Whether the criminal charges are constitution was the topic of discussion until you pivoted to talking about people cancelling their subscriptions. It’s hilarious when you confuse yourself.

*The firestorm over controversial Netflix film “Cuties,” which led to a huge spike in U.S. customer cancellations following its debut earlier this month, burned out after a few days, according to new data.*
