*I have cops in my family too. I'm not anti-cop. I don't listen to or agree one bit with NWA and their 'F* the Police' song and attitude. We need police reform,* but you don't destroy an orchard because of a few bad apples. And there's been racism in the force for too long, and George Floyd and other Black Americans were murdered. But not all cops do that, not by a long shot.

But here’s what gets me, many blacks that were killed by the police were often killed by other blacks and for some reason the media NEVER focuses on that critical point. It just drives me crazy

Trump wants these wars to fill his pocketbook. We don't even hear about them anymore.

Trump wants a war as much as Democrats want a tax cut. Trump never liked war, he was a huge critic of Bush and the Iraq war as it was going real bad and every liberal agreed with Trump back then, interestingly. Trump has always wanted out of these wars, that’s what he campaigned on. The Pentagon and now a lot of Democrats Lindsey Graham want to stay for some reason.

We all have a right to question and challenge the authority. Blind faith in your leaders or in anything will get you killed, it leads to disaster. I'm a military vet and I didn't serve to see America descend into dictatorship.

If Biden wins that’s exactly where it’s going to go.

*And we have been/are being lied to, over and over and over again. Benjamin franklin said, 'Those who are willing to sacrifice freedom for security deserves neither.' And we've been losing both of them. Cyberwar, cyberpunk is here - and Russian cyberwarriors and hackers installed the traitor dictator puppet Donald Trump into the White House.*

That’s just absurd, quite the opposite. Trump goes against everything Washington stands for and good that he’s rattling the establishment, had to happen. People and musical artists have the absolute right to express their opinions, but when they use personal insults or denigrate the country especially in a time of war when the country should unified sends a very foul message to many people that love this country and that’s why these women lost big time. They went to far as do a lot of people in the Entertainment industry these days. The majority of people could care less what these elite think.

*Possibly because Americans are realizing that they have had the wool over their eyes for too long. Racial, economic and social inequality have been too rampant for too long. Racist cops have been murdering Black Americans,*

No, they are not. I think it’s absolutely absurd to say something like that without a single shred of evidence to back it up. I have cops in my family and they don’t murder anyone, so please stop labeling all cops, the majority don’t kill anyone. Now if you want to have a discussion about police reform, we can do that and I’m with you on that.

you viciously attack your government especially we were in the middle of the war and all politics aside we need to be united in these women which is trashing the troops and trashing the country and that’s the reason why the blow back against him was so harsh, as a musician no one cares about your political beliefs especially when you’re trying to challenge authority, because the government doesn’t care what you think, but there’s no problem with it writing your grievance or you disdain in your music to make a point. But the problem is people already arguing with enough in their every day lives and the last thing that they want is to hear more politics in the music.

starpunk -Music is not meant to be just lovey-dovey HS homecoming dance in the gym. As bands grow up hopefully their audiences do too.

What many people would like to forget is that it's the fans who are in charge of their own money, and how they spend it. The chicks can say anything they wish. That doesn't mean they will have fans. Having a loud mouth doesn't guarantee that fans will pay to see, or hear, them. The chicks ex-fans refuse to support a band that insults its own fans. Goodbye, gurl. No new fans rushed in to buy what the chicks have been selling. Changing the band name doesn't make the band any more marketable. No fans = no money.

In fact it left a political void that lead to the rise of ISIL years later - REAL TROUBLE!

The previous President was told to establish a SOFA with the Iraqis and didn’t.

It's been war after war after war with no end in sight and nobody is winning.

Which is why this President wants out, but the establishment wants him to stay.

And the Chicks (as well as other artists) have the right and DUTY to address what they see in their music. That's what good songwriters do. Bruce Springsteen, U2, even the Sex Pistols ('God Save the Queen'), even Genesis ('Land of Confusion'), even the Rolling Stones ("Highwire', 'Rock and a Hard Place', 'Sweet Neo-Con'). Music is not meant to be just lovey-dovey HS homecoming dance in the gym. As bands grow up hopefully their audiences do too.

All Do you spans can’t see whatever they want, as you mentioned and no one has a problem with that, the problem is when you viciously attack your government especially we were in the middle of the war and all politics aside we need to be united in these women which is trashing the troops and trashing the country and that’s the reason why the blow back against him was so harsh, as a musician no one cares about your political beliefs especially when you’re trying to challenge authority, because the government doesn’t care what you think, but there’s no problem with it writing your grievance or you disdain in your music to make a point. Can you girls make a come back, only time will tell.

The Chicks were an original victim of right wing cancel-culture. It's been disappeared down the memory hole, but there was huge pressure at the time for everyone to be 100% on board with George W. Bush's Iraq war fever. Conservatives were more than happy to make sure they were not to be seen or heard.

But now people are being shunned for saying racist things, so it's suddenly a problem for the Fox News crowd.

Possibly because Americans are realizing that they have had the wool over their eyes for too long. Racial, economic and social inequality have been too rampant for too long. Racist cops have been murdering Black Americans, making up excuses to do so and getting away with it - for too long. America was put into the Afghanistan War then Dumbya ignored it and LIED about Saddam Hussein. Rotten as Saddam was, his overthrow didn't help Iraq one iota. In fact it left a political void that lead to the rise of ISIL years later - REAL TROUBLE! It's been war after war after war with no end in sight and nobody is winning.

Arrrgh-Type - The Chicks were an original victim of right wing cancel-culture.

The ditzy chicks chose to attack their own fans, which caused the chicks ex-fans to chose to spend their own hard earned money on something, anything, else. Entertainers can hope that they will attract enough fans to make themselves rich, and famous. Hope, not demand. After the chicks insulted their own supporters, no other fans rushed in to keep the chicks in the lifestyle that they now expected/demanded. Tell the chicks that this isn't rocket surgery. It was the fans money that the fans freely gave that supported the chicks lifestyle. No fans = no money.

How can the Dixie Chicks have been responsible for politicizing what is political by nature?

Easy, by injecting yourself in a political issue thinking that as a “musician” you have sway or validity and influence when it comes to US policies and you don’t like every other musician or artist that runs their mouth but can’t change anything. Calling your President a moron is not going to go over well with a lot of people, a certain percentage perhaps but not all and these celebs get slammed down again and again, no one cares what they they think, they live in an entirely different universe from the average American. Best thing is just stick to your profession whether that’s singing or acting instead of attacking the leaders of your country. It doesn’t mean you can’t point out flaws within the system, but the personal shots, most people don’t like and that’s how these women found out, the hard way. This is why people in the country like Matthew McConaughey.

I believe that black lives matter but I do not support the BLM movement because of their agenda, ideology and approach.

I want safety for black people. I want fairness for black people. But I don’t support BLM.

It’s not a binary issue.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@Wolpack,

well said.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

How do you choose to both fund the police and defund them at the same time? How do you say "Black lives matter" and "Black lives don't matter" at the same time? These things are binary choices by nature.

You don’t choose between funding or defunding- you choose reform. You don’t choose between black lives matter and black lives don’t matter - you choose the equality of all lives mattering equally. Only the Progressives are forcing the binary ‘with us or against us’ choice. You cannot even choose to refrain from engaging in the debate- this nonsensically makes you somehow racist and violent. It’s an extreme ideological mindset that leads someone to believe such a thing.

Only by framing an issue as one choice or the other do you make a complex matter a binary choice. It is simplistic and destructive to reduce difficult social issues to a one side of the other choice - it leaves no nuance and no room for the subtleties of human nature. People adhering to this extreme mindset would believe that only the total victory by any means necessary is acceptable. In fact, you hear that exact sentiment from many on the Progressive side right now.

Everyone likes to believe they are fighting the good fight.

That is absolutely not true. Plenty of people are and were after the Chicks just to enjoy the curmudgeonry. Some people are mean-spirited and hateful and only pretend to support a cause such as the erasing the word "Dixie" because they know it will be source of discontent in others. Always assuming your opponent is arguing honestly is a fallacy best left to formal debate groups. Some people even argue dishonestly for monetary gain.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Well in some things being neutral (or at least pretending) only helps support evil. If you say you are neutral toward police brutality while giving police respect, obeying them smoothly and paying your taxes and fines toward them without complaint you are not neutral at all. Some things have no middle ground. Nothing you mentioned was like abortion for example where people say simply, "If you don't like them then don't get one."

purposefully extreme and divisive in order to force one to make a binary choice.

How do you choose to both fund the police and defund them at the same time? How do you say "Black lives matter" and "Black lives don't matter" at the same time? These things are binary choices by nature.

Politicizing everything has not only damaged the Dixie Chicks success

How is Bush's jihad against Iraq and Afghanistan "not" political by nature? How can the Dixie Chicks have been responsible for politicizing what is political by nature?

You are either “With Us or Against Us”.

Well in some things being neutral (or at least pretending) only helps support evil. -2 ( +2 / -4 )

Politicizing everything has not only damaged the Dixie Chicks success but divided their fans and contributed to the manifest polarization of Americans into two ideological camps. That was their decision to do - their constant whining about being ostracized by the country music community at the time is lame.

The irony of the matter is that the binary ‘with us or against us’ choice they complained about at the time they started their jihad against Bush is being forced on Americans today by the social justice, critical race theory zealots supporting BLM neo-Marxism. “Silence=Violence”, “Defund the Police”, “Black Lives Matter” are purposefully extreme and divisive in order to force one to make a binary choice. You are either “With Us or Against Us”. The political poles switch strategies to force their ideology on the other side. It’s all about power- the extreme tactics are just means to an ends.

Since when has the expression "chicks" been offensive?

These days "everything" is offensive to "someone". And half the time when its over a word it seems to depend on "who" said it rather than something meaningful such as intent.

If the word "Dixie" conjures up negative images only for some people well I suggest those people are never going to be happy no matter what is done. For me the Dixie conjures images of hospitality, pride, manners and an over-wrought but often like-able sense of honor and duty. It also conjures memories of the Dukes of Hazard.

I say stop the pandering and enjoy offending the easily offended from now on. They will be miserable no matter what but I refuse to go down with them.

The term Jefferson airplane is also slang for a used match bent to hold a marijuana cigarette that has been smoked too short to hold without burning the hands

Thats gotta go too!

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Haha! Its like the Jefferson Airplane changing their name cuz Thomas Jefferson kept slaves. In other words, STUPID WEAK PANDERING.

2 ( +8 / -6 )

You go, Chicks! Expose these redneck racists for what they are!

I think you have it backwards. People are making fun of these "chicks" because they are the ones who gave in to social justice warriors' absurdity. The idea that they would give up the remaining half of their band's identity is equally absurd.

**Exactly**.

These “artists” are the very definition of washed up hack. Any chance they can get they slither back into the limelight. Pathetic and talentless

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

Many women and all feminists find the term repellant and demeaning. Where are you on this, Fighto!?

Since when has the expression "chicks" been offensive? Its as offensive as "guys". Logic FAIL.

You go, Chicks! Expose these redneck racists for what they are!

-2 ( +7 / -9 )

Good for them. Its great that the name change has outraged many racist scum!

Well done. Nice selective virtue. But now what about the “Chicks” part if the name? Many women and all feminists find the term repellant and demeaning. Where are you on this, Fighto!?

But now people are being shunned for saying racist things

People are now being shunned for saying anything anyone can twist to imagine is racist. Its scarlet letter time again and people never learn.

Why does this site keep reporting on this lame one hit wonder no one cares about band?

I was wondering exactly the same thing.

Why does this site keep reporting on this lame one hit wonder no one cares about band?

4 ( +13 / -9 )

Nearly two decades after country music shunned them...

The use-to-be dixie chicks attacked their own fans over politics. Their fans then abandoned the group. No other "fans" stepped in to take the place of the original fans. The only reason this group became rich and famous was due to the adoration of their fans. Their FANS shunned them. No fans = no fame. No fans = no money.

1 ( +8 / -7 )

Wonderful!!

2 ( +7 / -5 )

They will soon drop the “Chicks” part of their name due to pestering by feminists.

Go on ladies, welcome back!
