Sounds like it will be a happy ending with order completely restored to the 'Force' (i.e. the complete power of the 'Force' is synchronized and utilized) and the Dark Side completely vanquished.

But "The Force Awakens"? What was it doing during the first six films? Sleeping? Just doesn't fit with what I know of the rest of the story.

Bring it on!

I was buying SW chewing gum, ice blocks and pencils when the original came out in 1977.

They could put Mickey Mouse into this latest movie and I'd still warm a seat to see it. :-)p

"New" doesn't apply anymore. The Retro Order

It should be called the "Muppet Wars".

"The same without Yoda?!"... what makes any of you think that Yoda was even alive in TEPSB or RTOFJ?

If indeed Yoda were a ghost in those two movies, then there would be every reason for his return in the newer movies. As for Vader... don't forget what Ben said "He's more machine now than man"...

The title sounds lame. After Return of the Jedi something with "Republic" or "New Order" would sound better...

Don't forget that this is thirty years after any "new" order would have been implemented. "New" doesn't apply anymore.

Unless they plugged Jar Jar into the first three movies, I don't see how he could be there for three movies, disappear for three movies, then reappear. I think it's safe to say Jar Jar, while maybe not dead, has no purpose in the new movie(s).

Nice to see the physical trainer they hired for Carrie Fisher has gotten some results. Carrie ballooned-up over the 30 years since she was sporting the metal bikini in Jabba's harem. 58-year-olds are never going to completely return to what they were, but you can't have the series' heroine getting comments comparing her to Jabba.

As I understand it, the plot takes place 30 years after "Return of the Jedi" leaves off. Thus, there's no need for the original cast to be ghosts. They just needed a bit of toning up so they can be the elder statesmen and women they obviously will be playing. I'm guessing the original cast will be secondary characters to the new story, unless they really DO go with an "Expendables" plot.

@Luca Not mine. Someone tried to pick up my wife in the UK with a line based on that particular weapon. Very uncivilized.

Jar-Jar Awakens. All Jar-Jar, all the time. Seriously, I NOW am glad that he stunk as bad as he did because it precludes any future revival of him (I hope).

Yoda died as did obi wan, anakin's body was burned.

Happy resurrections.

@Jimizo

"...the fella with the purple light sabre"

Is that a crafty euphemism?

Anakin, Yoda, etc are dead, said that paatine might still be around according to rumours.

"Original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker will star in the new film, along with several newcomers including Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o.... Ford is back as smuggler Solo, the 62-year-old Hamill will return as Jedi Knight Skywalker and Fisher, 57, reprises the role of Princess Leia."

I find the lack of the return of Darth Vader disturbing.

"Luke is also still around and R2D2 & C3P0..."

Oh no, not that irritating C3PO...

"as well as Chewbacca"

Chewie! The walking carpet, ha ha!

"We can only hope Jar Jar died."

They wouldn't dare bring back Jar Jar.

Luke is also still around and R2D2 & C3P0. X-Wing and Millennium Falcon will also be back as well as Chewbacca, no word on Lando as yet.

We can only hope Jar Jar died.

All the greats have gone. But if Harrison is in it I guess there will either be ghosts or flashbacks or something. Or he and Leia make a new Anakin.

agree a lot of the acting was pretty poor.

'If you're still a super fan after midichlorians and younglings, you'll buy into anything.'

I actually became a Star Wars fan after hearing Ewan McGregor driver the 'younglings' line. Up there with the greatest comedy lines ever. The Emperor's ham acting when fighting the fella with the purple light sabre was also a classic. Worth ¥200 of anyone's money.

Yoda is gone as is anakin, jar jar( we pray).

A "tragic" demise of jar jar might be worth watching! Maybe a large ship accidentally lands on him like Monty Python's giant foot? (Think Yoda, Ben and Anakin are in spirit form too)

Do think people get a bit carried away with the criticism though. None of the films were really that bad. Some were more for kids but whatever. I survived.

Still, hope the plot of this one is interesting with a good finale. Lots of action please!

I am a super fan, and already I am reluctant to buy-in to this.

The big question is how will director J. J. Abrams handle the Star Wars continuity with this new movie. I just hope it's at least as good as what he did with the movie Super 8.

Yoda is gone as is anakin, jar jar( we pray).

Getting a SW expendables feel though.

Can it ever be the same without Yoda?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Could be good. Will see.

First impression is that the title sounds weak. I am a super fan, and already I am reluctant to buy-in to this.
