It remains topical: references to "The Matrix" are never far from discussions of Facebook's plans to create a virtual world, the Metaverse.

And Matrix Resurrections is very, very meta.

Growing up as a kid I loved watching all installments of the movie. Watched the Resurrections last Saturday but it was MEH for me. Not a lot of actions this time. And having Barney Stinson in this movie is kinda weird.

First, Neo may duck & dodge but Neo doesn’t “dance” around bullets. Keanu Reeves’ moves in The Matrix series were not at all like Jim Carrey’s campiness in The Mask (1996).

I enjoyed it. Bit slower on the action but had some great set pieces. Appreciated that understanding the story absolutely depended on having seen the previous movies rather than being a dumbed down reboot.

Secondly, making a choice to ‘seek knowledge’ in general is ‘taking the red pill’. Pursuing some real truths in life, into ‘the rabbit hole’ of learning about lies that are set in the world in order to break them and obtain ‘freedom’.

Thirdly, ‘taking the blue pill’ is ‘choosing to live a life without pursuing & knowing its deeper meanings’ or, running away from truths in order keep things in your comfort zone’, not really caring if you can play an active role in your own ‘destiny’.

Thanks” for the ‘heads up’ @BobFosse 8:26am that the previous movies are necessary primer Before seeing this installment. - Perhaps moderators will do us the courtesy of preempting any potential ‘*SPOILERS!***with this film ? - Let the readers “**enjoy their red pill” by seeing the film for themselves, so to speak.

A note: Censorship of opinions is never welcome however, moderation and/or modification of attempts to give away key plot details would be appreciated until many have had sufficient time to see the film themselves. - Regards.

Megazone 23 is better.

You're gonna lose it when you find out that John Wick is in this movie.

The Matrix is quite a good allegory for what is happening right now.

The red pill is an allegory for accepting your true self and a metaphor for trans rights. The director said so herself.

The right wing “red-pillers” are barking up the wrong tree as usual.

Matrix 4 was not a good movie at all. Disappointed.

Hey, let's rehash a finished movie and blow it up, let's make millions with the good old silly sheep fans !!..

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

I've always enjoyed the Matrix series and how the idea of future technology enslaving humanity is quite fascinating. Many similarities to today's world, including government tyranny, loss of freedoms, Covid-19 mass surveillance measures, mandates, and vaccination cards. We really are living in a Matrix-like world already. People glued to their mobile devices and Social Media. Leaders lying to us about the origins of the virus. Who knows, we might be living in a simulation already.

O*K***ay, apparently someone A) didn’t understand the open-ended, temporary ‘resolution’ in the 3rd of The Matrix trilogy; B) never fully understood the more cerebral concepts of all three films; or, C) is just here to continue the hate on Entertainment and ‘all things from ‘the West.” ? **

And Japanese cinema has never stretched out franchises, or worse, repackaged re-released episodic television into feature length films ?

-@11:15am: “Hey, let's rehash a finished movie and blow it up, let's make millions with the good old silly sheep fans!!”-*

First, there’s the original Evangelion TV series and its two movie spinoffs, released 1995 to 1997:

Neon Genesis Evangelion, the 26-episode animated series.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth, a two-part animated “film” that serves as both an updated recap of the first 24 episodes of the TV show and a preview of the final chapter of the Evangelion movie duology...

And, dissimilar to The Matrix: Resurrections, a “rehash” of Japanese anime never happened ??

“... The End of Evangelion, a movie that offers an expanded perspective—or, depending on how you interpret it, a completely different alternate rendition—of the events that take place in Neon Genesis Evangelion’s final two episodes.

Then, releasing 2007 - 2021, Rebuild of Evangelion, a four-movie re-imagining of the story of Neon Genesis Evangelion at large:

Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone

Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance

Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo

Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time

Perhaps the DragonBalls eries are better examples of some taste in anime ?

*- “**Since 1986, there have been 23 theatrical films based on the franchise, including twenty anime films produced by Toei Animation, and one official live-action film” -*

The Matrix is indeed so powerful, that it turned its creators, "The Wachowski Brothers"...into "sisters"! Voila!

Nothing is as it seems, obviously. Even the directors didn't know they weren't brothers! The main point, of course, is; Reality is whatever YOU want it to be, right? You, too, can walk through walls, or on water...or change your gender! Seriously! Just click your red-pill slippers together and say three times...oh wait...that's a different fantasy, isn't it? Sort of...over the Rainbow, as it were...

And look! Wikipedia helpfully airbrushes the "Brothers" part out of our collective history and into the Memory Hole...talk about the "Powers That Be" re-writing the past based on the ever-fickle whims of the present! What's up for revision next, I wonder?

"Fight the power!" Indeed. lol.

You, too, can walk through walls, or on water...or change your gender! Seriously!

One of these three options is possible. Seriously!

What's up for revision next, I wonder?

Who knows, but prepare to be triggered by it.
