I can tell you from working in the TV business for years that 8 million for an entire season isnt as heavy as it sounds. Back in their peak, the cast of Friends, were receiving over 1 million dollars per episode! At one point, the highest paid actor on TV was the man playing Gil Grisom (The main character of CSI) who was getting 2.3 million dollars per episode of the show.

Last year, TBS Japan flew in a "gennojin" and 2 Japanese staff into Toronto Canada. TBS paid for these 3, plus all of their hotel, transportation, food, and more for a total of 4 days. In addidion to these costs, they paid an ouside consultant over $200 per day plus meals, hotel, food, etc.. and a full stunt team was paid over an amount that rivals all of the previous put together! All of this... was for a 30 second segment of a live broadcast related to world cup.

Taka,

You're right, the 8 million an episode thing was a mistake. That would be ludicrous. The crossover for the voice actors is also not as extensive as I thought but several actors play major characters in both.

Cancel the dang beast, not because of salary issues because the show jumped the shark a looooonggg time ago.

8 million a year for just talking

amazing !!!!!!

Human Target,

It's 8 million a SEASON, not episode. Whopping difference there. And I don't know of any of the voice talent on the Simpsons doing work on Futurama. Don't know where you got your info there. I could be the one wrong, I seriously haven't heard that.

If you want to get your news from "CSI" and "24", be my guest.

Journalists write day in and day out for pennies, and provide a much more valuable service.

Valuable service in their own minds maybe. Only a reader can say whether or not what they read is of value.

The actors offering to take a 30% pay cut seems reasonable, but seriously, 8 million an episode? Plus, a lot of them are cashing in on Futurama at the same time... I mean, jesus. Reminds me of when the Writer's Guild went on strike... "a million a year isn't enough, blah blah blah" Enough for doing what? Working maybe 2 or 3 months out of a year to write a few lousy scripts? Journalists write day in and day out for pennies, and provide a much more valuable service.

Someone please tell me it hasn't already been 23 years since The Simpsons debuted.

Geez! I would be happy to complain about a measly 800000 USD a year! Some people are way Too greedy!!

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Obama, please TAX these people. Americans....99%.....we can see these people who get paid 8 million a year. They're crying over a pay cut but yet the people who loved them can't find jobs. They are losing their homes. TAX them all Fox TV, the voice actors. They can keep their money so long as they agree to pay a higher share of the TAX. Too many freeloaders in America taking advantage of it's opportunities but not giving back to her.

What is it about American produced shows where they keep flogging dead horses until a show is axed where as the best shows produced by the BBC are just 2 series of less...

Now I know how the Pilgrims felt; "All aboard for Plymouth Rock!"

The actors don't need to take pay cuts. What are the producers going to do, give Homer a new voice? They'll restructure this so they get less front-end money and more from syndication and licensing. The producers can then sell episodes to Fox for less, and everyone's happy.

23 years of making money for Fox, why shouldn't they take a pay cut? Un-freaking-believable. With all the money they make in syndacation and marketing, they can't afford to pay their talent? I don't think so.

American humor and British humor comparisons are as useful as comparing apples and oranges IMHO so Long Live Los Simpsons!! Duff Beer!!!

Great show in its early-mid years but haven't watched it regularly since at least 2002. Should have ended years ago. What is it about American produced shows where they keep flogging dead horses until a show is axed where as the best shows produced by the BBC are just 2 series of less than 15 episodes (eg Fawlty Towers, The Office, I'm Alan Partridge) and become instant classics.
