"We didn't do it intentionally. No guy goes to war and takes a bullet on purpose," he said. "You have a mission to do."

Talented comedians for sure, but a little ironic that they are celebrating the anniversary of their being fired for being anti-war and this is the analogy he uses for what they accomplished.

Fifty years later and we're still seeing the same types of actions.

"We didn't do it intentionally. No guy goes to war and takes a bullet on purpose," he said. "You have a mission to do."

Perfectly pitched irony from two great performers and patriots. They knew all about the horror and crime of war caused by psychopathic politicians since they lost their father who died as a POW of the Japanese in WW2.

PS.

The firing of the Smothers Brothers, like that of Bill Maher after 7/11, oops, I mean 9/11 (that malapropism must be from listening to too much Trumptalk) shows how much of the subcutaneous tissue of fascism still resides in the Amerikan body politic, periodically erupting to the surface in "Un-American" anti-free speech hysteria and intolerance for inconvenient truths.

I never really thought they were all that funny but I respected them for what they were doing when I happened to catch their show channel surfing on the carpet turning the TV knob.

opposition to the Vietnam War, support of civil rights and tweaking authority.

If they tried opposing war today they would be called Russian stooges.

Ask Rosanne Barr. She was fired for supporting someone the far-left goes apoplectic over. So very tolerant of differing opinions. And she considers herself a leftist. I personally enjoyed the Smothers Brothers.

For 2 Guys in their 80's they look remarkably well.
