Why though? Talk about beating a dead horse.

Yeah, because they did such a great job with the last three Bore-Wars movies.

10 ( +15 / -5 )

@Gareth Miles

@Bob Fosse Stars Wars always had a woman in the leading role. Princess Leia was the brains, courage, and leadership of the original movies. The complaints about the casting of the black actor were the violation of the Star Wars story - in previous movies all the troops were clones of a Mandalorian bounty hunter. The appearance of John Boyega trampled all over this history.

You have no idea what you are talking about which proves Bob Fosse and the other's point. In the franchise, the clones were replaced by volunteers and recruits after order 66 by Palpatine. The aliens that made the clones were also all killed by Palpatine, so no one else could build another clone army.

By the time of the last 3 movies, there were no more clones in the universe let alone in the First Order.

Once again "laziness!"

I think pushing this next Star Wars series has more to do with Kathleen Kennedy's ego than anything else. It is similar to the Witcher and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.

Their escalating commitment to be right and prove themselves at all cost increases their chances of making bad decisions. People sometimes forget that a benefit of becoming humbled through an experience is becoming more reflective. I do not believe these two women in Hollywood have really learned that lesson. I think that they are going through denial.

Does any remember The Witcher: Blood Origin?

Meh. Post-1983 Star Wars stuff has been pretty hit and miss.

Good stuff:

Andor

Rogue 1

First couple seasons of Mandalorian (the current season is unfortunately pretty boring so far)

Awful stuff:

Prequel trilogy

Sequel trilogy

Boba Fett TV show

Obi Wan TV show

Based on that track record, my guess is that I’ll thoroughly enjoy one of these 3 upcoming films, be bored by a second, and get downright angry at how awful the other one is. Can’t tell which will be which at this point of course.

Yeah, because they did such a great job with the last three Bore-Wars movies.

The last SW film I saw was the one where Luke finally bites the dust. Padme kills the Slork leader in such an overeasy manner. Then Leia is hurled out into space and 'revived' (the real Carrie Fisher had died). There was that huge Western-style 'shootout' on an asteroid. I couldn't make any sense of who's who or what's what and halfway thru the movie I stopped trying to.

Disney has totally botched and bastardized the franchise beyond all recognition.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I for one am looking forward to all three movies. The "star wars galaxy" is massive and only the surface has been scratched. So many stories to tell and so little time to tell them.

I like your optimism but the story should have just ended then and there. No more Palps, no more Luke, no one cares about Rey "Skywalker" and her new adventures. You are right and that there is far more ground to cover, but priorities are all wrong. They should make an Old Republic movie or something fans actually want to see.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Sorry, amigo. People will always rightly call out racism.

No, it's usually the left that engages in race talk, particularly when they lose the talking point debates.

If you don't like it, well, I suggest you don't engage in what people are calling out.

No, I just ingnore or block those people, a lot easier

And furthermore, maybe don't take the topic of a movie coming out and immediately decide you're going to inject personal politics into it.

But that is exactly what the left is and has been doing.

Even if true he/she is working from outside throwing in. You? You're down there IN the gutter to begin with and just trying to stir up unrelated bickering on an unrelated thread.

No, it was the left that decided to go woke and like the old saying goes, "go woke and go broke."

Back to the topic at hand, I absolutely KNEW that they would never let sleeping dogs lie with this one. There were three great Star Wars movies -- the original. And then Rogue One was fantastic as well. That's it. Numbers 1 to 3 are an absolute disgrace and always will be, and 7 to 10 were not terrible, but not very good; their biggest selling point was their casting from the original movies, which banked entirely on nostalgia (and worked to an extent). I do not believe they will do any better of a job with these new movies and think they might well do even worse. And please, PLEASE don't try to tie in The Mandalorian or baby Yoda.

Well, the original Star Wars was always great, but the other newer crap, defintely love Mando and Andor Rogue 1. Let's hope Disney doesn't screw up these future classic projects.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

good for my kids

Adult kids? Are you kidding? Who on earth decides for their adult children? TMM (Too much mommy [or Daddy]). But it's pretty pathetic to decide not to watch something because Disney made Desantis look stupid (and continues to do so). I absolutely love the Andor series and how it connects to Rogue One. I won't spoil it but the way the first season ends (OMG). It is not a kiddy series. Trump people refuse to watch all Disney movies because of the way {world class) Iger made (amateur hour) Desantis look like an idiot. That is silly and cult-like. Trump people also refuse to use Amazon because they own the Washington Post and Trump hates the post. There are some things I hate about Amazon but it has nothing to do with politics. Trump people. Just be honest. If you refuse to watch Star Wars because of the war with Iger/Desantis just say it. If some Disney movies are woke then can you be specific?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

They’ll probably be all woke versions. Naw, that’s ok.

What does that mean? I hope they don’t put a black person, a camp possibly gay character, or even worse a woman in a lead role. That would be woke beyond belief. /s

The entertainment world is overflowing with Star Wars stuff. What's missing is the anticipation that is key to getting fans truly excited about new releases. At this point, there are more Star Wars hours of video than most long running TV shows. The fans are burned out.

They need to have no more than 1 TV show every other year.

They need to have no more than 1 feature movie every other year.

No more holiday specials, please. As a fan, I'm begging you. You've already turned a Lamborghini into a Ford. Stop already.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

They need to have no more than 1 feature movie every other year.

The last Star Wars film was released in 2019. Over 3 years ago. And the next one is scheduled to be released in 2025.

The fans are burned out.

Not really. It's a good bet a release in 2025 will be the top money making film of the year.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Just sort out the screen play, the story lines, characterization, and the dialogue.

Yoda..."Do or do not; there is no try.".....wait, there is more.... "Around the survivors a perimeter create."

The romantic interaction between Padmé Anakin is well....

"I'm haunted by the kiss that you never should have given me"

Then the "I love you" ..... "I know"

Its, Mills & Boon on Magnesium hydroxide.

Your teenage daughters are old enough to decide for themselves, yes?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

No, they’re forcing their woke ideology from the traditions and norms that made Disney a family fun entity, that’s no more and again

Can you be specific. It has nothing to do with Iger making Ronny look stupid over the Reedy Creek stunt that Desantis tried to pull? I'm suspicious. Because Universal is doing a lot of the same things as Disney and I don't notice any Trump wars towards them. It really has to do with the bitterness of Iger making Desantis looking stupid!! Disney is doing well for their business, but there are some annoying things like their price parking. Remember Disney stock price is good for American, and Desantis is trying to knock them down. Captain Desantis Ahab is going to make himself look stupider and stupider as he tries to take down Disney. What is he thinking? The problem is the Trump way of doing things is really destructive. Just look at the (further) disaster Twitter is since Elon took over. Also, don't forget that Disney supports the troops with Shades of Green so again, why do Trump people hate Disney so much. They are a stock market winner.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine.

"The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural."

Yeah, let's label and stereotype everyone against 'woke' as politically conservative cause well it's the only reason I can think of.

OH, it's definitely a conservative thing. Woke up and smell the roses.

The appearance of John Boyega trampled all over this history.

That's quite woke all in itself. Very profound. Not. I'd never trust a bias conservative on how they're looking at women, blacks or any thing with diversity, they really don't believe it, especially the MAGA people.

Face it, woke is a conservative tool, all the way. It's nothing but a word describing being aware and finding information to critical think, something they abhor, so it's a catch word for all conservatives to be able to carry on lies and narrative. LOL!

Conservatives want to use the word as a negative, and they know it.

Yeah, let's label and stereotype everyone against 'woke' as politically conservative cause well it's the only reason I can think of.

OH, it's definitely a conservative thing. Woke up and smell the roses.

Labeling everyone as a conservative is juvenile, painting everyone with a broad brush, and is no different from what the ultra right wing do.

Not surprising that you equate box office numbers with quality. The highest grossing movie is Avatar; a truly mediocre film.

As a life long Liberal I smell crap certainly not roses when it's a crap movie because the producers and writers chose to focus on 'woke' rather than be good producers and writers and you know.....focus on a good story, with good writing, You know...the essential elements of a good film.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

They’ll probably be all woke versions. Naw, that’s ok.

Trump people say this because Bob Iger out moused Desantis and made the Florida governor look stupid. But there is chatter that Apple could aquire Disney and if so that means no woke iPhones for Trump people. Rogue One was awesome and you have to watch Andor. But Trump people are not allowed to because that would betray Desantis

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Fans at the convention also got a first view of U.S. actress Rosario Dawson in the role of Ahsoka, a female Jedi warrior who first appeared in an animated series.

The character has been such as hit with the "Star Wars" fan base that she has graduated to a live-action television series, due out in August.

The Ahsoka film trailer looks good

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnzNZ0Mdx4I

The films that are not the mainline numbered films turn out just fine, like Rogue One

1 ( +1 / -0 )

sunfunbunToday  07:08 pm JST

You must be out of touch 'as a life long liberal' if you believe you are a liberal who doesn't see 'woke' is a conservative thing worthy of a label. Sometimes a label is deserving. Like Trump followers are liars.. No one I know who is a liberal uses the woke term, especially in a negative light. Not a single one.

Didn't do that, at all. But, the fact is Star Wars with Daisy Ridley as Rey has continued to be hugely popular and if you equate Star Wars, the Marvel series, Avatar or whatever as a bad film, obviously you are contextually watching films differently to what many others are viewing as entertainment. It's condescending to tell everyone else what is a 'quality film'. That's up to the viewer.

Again, that is opinion. It doesn't speak for everyone, most obviously, and Star Wars can be seen as written poorly. Titanic, Avatar, the Marvel films, as well. Or it can be seen as written for its genre and type of film as adventurous, fun and less pedantic than... what is it you called...a 'good film'.

And, it's only your opinion, as a viewpoint of arrogance. You're on a high horse.

I think your overuse of labels says everything. You cleanly need to label people as either conservative or liberal because that's the extent of your maturity when in actuality people often shift on issues regardless of their overall political affiliations. You're just a product of today's modern US politics that's seeks only to be divisive and separate people based solely on their said political affiliations when there's a lot mote to people. In actuality, you're no better or different from a MAGA.

There are a lot of liberals who are against 'woke' in entertainment because they see what it does to quality,

It's not condescending for me to say what's good or bad because.....it's my opinion. You don't even realize that you're doing the same. My god the hypocrisy.

I'm contextually watching films differently to others? You mean there's only one way to contextualize them? I'm not the only one who dislikes them so spare me the notion that everyone loves these films and that I'm somehow an exception. I've given an example why they're not (Finn's character, Solo, Skywalker) which are valid criticisms. Ah and yes, you've made several references to box office numbers.

That you actually claim bad writing is okay for a genre, type, because it's adventurous, fun, etc., doesn't make any sense, A film regardless should have good writing and narrative even if it doesn't take itself too seriously. No one is expecting a dramatic tour de force but at the least put out a decent product.

No kidding it's an opinion. Seriously what did you think it was? My horse isn't any higher or lower than yours but that you fail to grasp that is telling.

Rogue One is an amazing, awesome movie and it became one of my favorites…; it’s in my top sixty, sixty five, seventy.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

nishikat I didn’t watch Andor but it looks good…; actually I still didn’t watch any Star Wars tv series but I’d say that I’m only interested in Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi…; what do you guys think of Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)…?; anyway, I feel like Rogue One is the only Star Wars movie that any type of person can watch…; it is a very solid, dark, sci-fi/war movie and you can’t say the same thing about the other (ten) movies.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

SW will continue to make money based solely on name value but those returns are diminishing. FA made $2bil, LJ $1.3bil, and the grand finale RS made $1bil, half of what FA made. Obiwan is rated at 63%, Boba 55%, and even Mando is now 79% when the 1st season started near 90%.

This is the classic market oversaturation scenario that is always accompanied by decreased quality. When they get the right talented writers and producers who have knowledge and passion for the IP and stay away from 'diversity for the sake of diversity', we get decent products like Rogue One 87% and Andor 85%. It's no coincidence that both have no Rey, Finn, Poe, or Kylo. The % numbers are from RT but not surprisingly IMDB numbers reflect the same trend except for Mando which though is quickly dropping.

During my kid's first day of school on Friday, the new teacher during his introduction asked the class how many people were into Star Wars, since he was really into the series, and only two kids raised their hands.

Any new Star Wars movie will make a ton of money. ‘

Hmmmm…

https://nypost.com/2021/09/21/star-wars-sequel-trilogy-sucks-original-film-editor-says/

just because of movie mix money doesn’t mean it’s good, just because he open up a hamburger stand doesn’t mean it’s going to be delicious.

I didn’t say they were good. I said they make a ton of money.

Go woke go broke’, as the article I provided above explains clearly, simply is not true.

It is very true.

No. No, it isn’t. Read the article. Do you think the companies are lying about their profits? That Rolling Stone magazine reported lies? I know that when you disagree with something it is easier to make up a conspiracy theory than accept it.

But you frequently complained that Disney was forcing their content on people. Brainwashing kids.

That’s exactly what they are doing.

You, this afternoon:

“Disney can chuck out all the woke crap they want, but they can't force people to watch it, those that want to, that is their choice”

Make your mind up.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Disney can do what it wants, but I don’t need to support it, in the end I am the one to decide what to consume or what I think is good for my kids or not, not Disney.

So you agree then that Disney are not forcing anybody, and that desantis won’t be stopping any ‘woke’ Disney.

Sorry, amigo. People will always rightly call out racism.

No, it's usually the left that engages in race talk, particularly when they lose the talking point debates.

The 'race issue' was brought up in a SW comic book during my tween years, before the second movie 'The Empire Strikes Back' came in 1980. Introducing to you, Lando Calrissian. End of story. And may I mention that James Earl Jones voiced Darth Vader?

There was diversity right from the start.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Skipped II and III since I sucked badly (was a good decision apparently). Came back for VII-IX and didn't find them THAT bad, but the Wokeness rot really set in from I. Oh, I take that back, IX was also utter rubbish. Acutall, I am pretty much finished with modern hollywood films. Oh for the cheesy films of the 80s.

so done with Star Wars, we have better things to do with our lives than watch people try to recreate the magic of my youth, and failing miserably over and over

Make new things. Create new magic. Start living for today. Do that instead

It's all Disney's fault. Taking 16 years to put out the first trilogy was screwball enough but you knew what it was going to lead to. The last SW film I saw was from the 3rd trilogy with somebody named Padme. Solo supposedly was dead and Leia got ejected into space and 'revived' again (I guess). There were so many plot holes, loose ends, sloppy editing, bad scriptwriting, etc. I couldn't tell just what the hell was going on, who was doing what to who, who was fighting whom or what. It's utterly ridiculous.

None of this stuff truly tied in with what Lucas had written or produced before. It's been 'STAR WARS' in name only. At least when the comic books, novels and comic strip in the papers came between the films there was some unity and sense. There was some good cohesion. Even that mid 80s 'Ewoks' Saturday morning cartoon series fit in better than this.

Now it's all twisted and morphed up into a totally different beastie, just like STAR TREK has become. And it ain't much fun anymore.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

laziness

That’s the word I think of when I hear ‘woke’ now. There were right-leaning journalists I used to respect who have cashed in on triggering the easily-led with articles on the latest ‘woke madness’ ( usually some nobody saying something of no consequence ).

It’s an easy click and doesn’t require hard work on the part of the writer.

I think it’s on its way out anyway. It will be stored alongside ‘soy boy’ and ‘cuck’.

Just boring now.

You're absolutely right about SW's lore the way that there aren't any black elves in Tolkien's world. But let's say for argument's sake that....fine....put in a black stormtrooper. It turns out that Finn's character is utterly useless. He initially cries over his 'brother' stormtroopers sad fate but then has no problem killing as many as possible with zero remorse. Gradually over the trilogy, Finn is relegated to basically comic relief playing a slapstick buffoon while screaming, "Reeeeeyyyyy!!!" over and over and has no impact on the narrative at all.

This what Boyega himself said:

"Do not bring out a black character, market them to be much more important to the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. It's not good. I’ll say it straight up"

How bad was the writing? They had Solo, Leia, and Skywalker yet there wasn't one scene with all three. There weren't even any scenes with Skywalker and Solo. Not one. They killed one off and made the other into a crotchety, nasty hermit who'd rather milk from the teats of a dumb animal with milk all over his face than save the Jedi.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

@Bob Fosse Stars Wars always had a woman in the leading role. Princess Leia was the brains, courage, and leadership of the original movies.

You don’t get sarcasm. My point was that the original trilogy had strong females, black characters and camp gay.

’woke’ as an insult is stupid.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Rogue One is an amazing, awesome movie and it became one of my favorites…; it’s in my top sixty, sixty five, seventy.

Agree and it is connected to Andor. I enjoyed Boba Fett but seemed a bit juvenile like for an adolescent audience. Just choose what you enjoy or not enjoy. If you decide what to watch or not watch based on being a Trump person or non Trump person:

They’ll probably be all woke versions. Naw, that’s ok.

... life becomes shallow

But Desantis feels humiliated by the mouse and it shows.

That’s very noble. You were so excited about the end of Disney’s ‘woke’ agenda. I must say you’re handling it very well.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

No, it was the left that decided to go woke and like the old saying goes, "go woke and go broke."

Yet these ‘woke’ movies and tv shows make millions and millions of dollars. Sure you can find one or two examples but they are exceptions. Disney movies for example very very rarely lose money.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/woke-companies-broke-profits-1234710724/amp/

This is an interesting article, from just yesterday, which disproves the “go woke go broke” bleat some people have been fooled into believing.

Not really

https://www.foxnews.com/media/go-woke-go-broke-liberal-movies-books-tv-bombed-2022

https://movieweb.com/woke-movies-cultural-agenda/

So no one is saying that Disney is going out of business, but their latest movies have been complete flops, nothing compared to the tickets sales of some of their iconic classic movies.

Disney can chuck out all the woke crap they want, but they can't force people to watch it, those that want to, that is their choice, so if they want to alienate a huge chunk of their audience, go right ahead.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Thanks, but no thanks. Fewer and fewer people are watching these movies. Disney have taken the Golden Goose and have caused it to start laying rotten eggs. The Star Wars stories have become politically divisive, the scripts are poorly written, and full of plot holes, logic is thrown to the wind. And to hide that stories so bad, the special effects and sound are cranked up to hide it.

The only way to save Star Wars is to get it away from Disney. George Lucas could probably buy it back for half what Disney gave him for it. This would help seal up the black hole which are Disney’s losses since they replaced their entertainment with activism.

Ok, but McDonald’s makes a lot of money, they won’t go out of business, it doesn’t mean they’re good or provide good quality.

Never changed it.

They should make an Old Republic movie or something fans actually want to see.

You are one fan and your opinion on what you want to see is listed in your statement. I want to see it all, so a second fan wants something different from you. Other fans will have their own ideas on what they want to see and those in control clearly have their own ideas also. As varied and expansive as the star wars galaxy itself.

Yes I am only one fan with my own opinion, but I didn't just say this out of the ordinary. If you go on many Star Wars fan pages and look at the polls, a new Rey movie isn't something fans are interested in seeing at the moment since there are other potentially better movies that are rumored to be in the making. But at the end of the day I agree that I do want to see it all.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I lost count of how many Star Wars movies there are. Should be enough for training AI to generate infinite more variations.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

That is 100% true.

That is up to the viewer, but why try to forbid your adult children from watching Disney movies? That's just weird and sounds like adult children still living in Mommy and Daddy's basement. Except for COVID Disney was been experiencing record upward guest counts and now recovering. Personally I don't want to go since I won't want to wait five hours to ride space mountain. It's also too expensive. But my reason has nothing to do with politics. I just feel the park won't be fun for me because of the waits and expense. Trump people just hate Disney because of Desantis looking like an idiot with his attempted stunt with Reedy Creek.

Three new "Star Wars" movies are in the making...

Oh, no!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Because lots of people will complain, and then watch it. And lots more will get excited and watch it.

Why though? Talk about beating a dead horse

What does that mean?

As far as Star Wars goes, to a conservative, it means they see a black actor, a gay one, or any view of diversity and say it's woke.

Woke is just a catch all phrase for conservatives. It means being aware and finding true information is a liberal thing and not met with positive connotation, as it's easier to spew narrative with such all encompassing ideas such as woke.

In other words, as usual, laziness on conservatives to actually clarity and show understanding of what they're talking about gets obfuscated by repeat words and phrases. Woke does that for them. When you hear the word woke, let it go, it'll be gone soon because it won't improve the conservative agenda.

Yeah, let's label and stereotype everyone against 'woke' as politically conservative cause well it's the only reason I can think of. Let's not consider the quality of the writing or narrative. Funny how those who are against 'woke' praise characters like Ellen Ripley, Sara Conner, Beatrix Kiddo, Trinity, Lt. Uhura, Mr. Miyagi, Glenn - Walking Dead, Morpheus, Robert McCall, etc, etc. According to your premise, how is that possible? They're women, Blacks, and Asians.

They need to have no more than 1 feature movie every other year.

The last Star Wars film was released in 2019. Over 3 years ago. And the next one is scheduled to be released in 2025.

The fans are burned out.

Not really. It's a good bet a release in 2025 will be the top money making film of the year.

And the last Disney - SW trilogy was absolute garbage. So was Boba Fett, Obi Wan and the Mandalorian season 3 is a joke. Yeah Disney & SW!!!

Labeling everyone as a conservative is juvenile, painting everyone with a broad brush, and is no different from what the ultra right wing do.

Not surprising that you equate box office numbers with quality.

I smell crap certainly not roses when it's a crap movie because the producers and writers chose to focus on 'woke' rather than be good producers and writers and you know.....focus on a good story, with good writing, You know...the essential elements of a good film.

Don't people realize that "woke" it a term that black people call everyone else after they finally understand the systematic discrimination they've seen all their lives, almost everywhere?

It isn't a negative nor a positive. It describes that someone sees something they never considered previously. Now that we know about it, which took decades too long for many, it isn't hard to see. Except for some deniers who still can't open their minds to see this systematic discrimination. The "woke" may not have outwardly discriminated, but subconsciously, they probably have.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

What does that mean? I hope they don’t put a black person,

I wasn’t talking about race, seriously, what is up with you guys and race always?!

a camp possibly gay character, *

wrong again

or even worse a woman in a lead role.

Nope

That would be woke beyond belief. /s

All That is fine.

Relax, so far you’ve been hitting gutter balls.

Oh, so Disney won’t stop making ‘woke’ content? I see. You seemed so sure that was going to change too.

Well, then I just won’t watch it. No sweat off my back, they can continue making woke whatever, good for them and good for me as I don’t have to watch their crap. Everyone walks away a winner.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

They should make an Old Republic movie or something fans actually want to see.

You are one fan and your opinion on what you want to see is listed in your statement. I want to see it all, so a second fan wants something different from you. Other fans will have their own ideas on what they want to see and those in control clearly have their own ideas also. As varied and expansive as the star wars galaxy itself.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

As I said, you can find a few examples but they are exceptions. Disney movies make a ton of money. Any new Star Wars movie will make a ton of money. ‘Go woke go broke’, as the article I provided above explains clearly, simply is not true.

Disney can chuck out all the woke crap they want, but they can't force people to watch it

But you frequently complained that Disney was forcing their content on people. Brainwashing kids. That was your whole thing, for a while.

I’m glad you changed your mind.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

They’ll probably be all woke versions. Naw, that’s ok.

Oh, so Disney won’t stop making ‘woke’ content? I see. You seemed so sure that was going to change too.

-2 ( +7 / -9 )

’woke’ as an insult is stupid.

Absolutely, THIS!

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

their latest movies have been complete flops, nothing compared to the tickets sales of some of their iconic classic movies.

This would help seal up the black hole which are Disney’s losses since they replaced their entertainment with activism.

2022 was Disney’s most profitable year in their entire history.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

As I said, you can find a few examples but they are exceptions.

No, so far every latest new woke movie that came out didn’t meet their overall profit expectations.

The film’s trailer has been flooded with 1.5 million dislikes from angry “fans” - despite YouTube removing the dislike counter, the numbers are still available through an extension.

Disney movies make a ton of money.

Depends, the before woke ones and the classic the majority ones yes.

Any new Star Wars movie will make a ton of money. ‘

Hmmmm…

just because of movie mix money doesn’t mean it’s good, just because he open up a hamburger stand doesn’t mean it’s going to be delicious.

Go woke go broke’, as the article I provided above explains clearly, simply is not true.

It is very true.

But you frequently complained that Disney was forcing their content on people. Brainwashing kids.

That’s exactly what they are doing.

Boring. Hollywood is totally out of ideas and they keep remaking the same things. I stopped watching hollywood movies about 10 years ago although i like watching movies.

That is 100% true.

@SDCA Interesting you can dismiss Rey. The Force Awakens is 5th on the all time list of box office at over 2 billion dollars of sales.

Say what you and other Star Wars dissers what to say, but look at the reality. A new film in 2025 will have huge sales, no doubt about it.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

So you agree then that Disney are not forcing anybody, and that desantis won’t be stopping any ‘woke’ Disney

No, they’re forcing their woke ideology from the traditions and norms that made Disney a family fun entity, that’s no more and again, if people want to see their new woke crap, good for them, the ones that don’t want to watch there are other family friendly shows from the old movies to other networks. We can still choose what we want to visually consume.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

@Bob Fosse Stars Wars always had a woman in the leading role. Princess Leia was the brains, courage, and leadership of the original movies. The complaints about the casting of the black actor were the violation of the Star Wars story - in previous movies all the troops were clones of a Mandalorian bounty hunter. The appearance of John Boyega trampled all over this history.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

Yeah, let's label and stereotype everyone against 'woke' as politically conservative cause well it's the only reason I can think of.

Its typical of the leftie style of “debate”.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

I lost count of how many Star Wars movies there are. Should be enough for training AI to generate infinite more variations.

Well, like with everything that Hollyweird has to offer today is not much talent, and rehashing and remaking old stories again and again with the hope no one will notice.

But in the end, they always do.
