Completely agree with you - the metoo witch-hunters are not always in the right.

Ahh, but the "suits" aren't in the limelight, and they haven't taken any underage girls home now have they? And if you think a kiss is all it takes to throw away one's dignity? "Poor" girl? I think there is a hell of a lot more that went on then is being reported.

His resigning, suggests something more, but now we will never know!

If (s)he says 'no' that means NO - period. He was drunk and she wasn't consenting. If it isn't 2 consenting people then something ain't right here. And she is a minor so there's the crime. If Tokio is so popular then how come this guy couldn't find a girl his OWN age? It's one thing to be an idol for teenagers but that doesn't give you a ticket to take advantage of them!

It was an obvious set up, this girl knowingly went to his apartment with the intent to snare him for cash.

Obvious set up to who, Steve?

Incel?

He took advantage of a kid - how can you defend him and continue to blame the victim?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

steven fennel, 'he had no choice' ? How do you figure that?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

What a shame it came to this. It was an obvious set up, this girl knowingly went to his apartment with the intent to snare him for cash.

Unfortuately in this post "metoo" hysteria, the apparent "victim" is going to win every time. I don't think he was given any choice but to say that he kissed her once she went to the police and the media.

Iura novit curia the principal that the court knows the law. The very nature of Judicial process.

Tatsuya Yamaguchi committed or at least professed to a forced indecent act to/of a minor, a serious criminal offence.

Educator60 précis of events, including an element of trust, formed from the basis of a working relationship between Tatsuya Yamaguchi and the victim.

Due process has been evaded, sidestepped if you will by the actions of Johnny & Associates, Tatsuya Yamaguchi agency through Attorneys, in effect purchasing the promise of silence, through withdrawal of victim report.

Its inevitable that without due process what is left is conjecture, assumption and supposition in the media, linked to the toxic shameful habitual perception that mitigates the victim as responsible.

Johnny & Associates has effectively/allegedly with breathtaking arrogant contempt elected themselves judge and jury, dispensing guilt and punishment in a cynical trial by media to protect there brand . A shameful display of deceitful insincerity.

Is it even worth being reported in detail every day?

He made a mistake, got caught and that's it.

Aren't there so many important things that we should know such as under-20 murderer's identity, Abe's cheating in land price, etc?

Time for news is finite resources, isn't it?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Frank, thanks for yout input and info. As I suspected.

This whole thing is just overblown by the media. I watch ZiP every morning and I would often notice that Yamaguchi looked hungover. So, he obviously has an alcohol addiction that he needs to get help for.

As a female, I’ve asked so many of my female friends and everyone says the same thing. Why would you go? I’m not victim blaming at all, it’s just trying to avoid being placed in these situations. The parents apparently knew too... hmmmmm

this guy has clearly been through the wringer. I remember the same crap happened when that actress Nori-P was caught with drugs. It’s like nothing else in the world is going on!

A lot of good points on the board. I wish the young lady didn't accept the payoff. It would be nice to blow up these "talent" groups and show how a lot of them have gotten away with so much for decades. I'm pretty sure the Japan-Entertainment industry has way more skeletons (pun intended) in their closets than Hollywood.

Naive is no excuse to use people. I really wish that those of you on the "lynch-mob" argument for this would truly think about the abuse of power of a lot of these (as someone wrote above) these "man-children". God only knows how those poor idol groups of young women are treated, and I'm sure they are drawing up all kinds of contracts to silence them (which won't be hard since the problem also lies in the wannabe-stars sign anything).

At the end of the day the real crime is the word "talent" being associated with a lot of these people.

I'm sorry, but nobody should be able to buy their way out of committing a criminal act on minors!!

Sure, you hit me with your car, cover my med bills, and give me some dosh for my pain and missery...I'll drop charges. Fair enough eh?

But a sexual offense against a minor!! Her parents must be a real class act to let this slip.

Take hiim to the courts. Get him some time in the big house...then sue for damages.

Hush money in this context....disgusting!

"And this is still dominating the news. As said before way overblown.

actually I think its great, make the many pedophile males in this country to think twice before touching an underage girl!"

The have now an idea :

that you can act indecently without being sent to prison

victims or parents'victims, or both can earn very quick bucks.

it cost about 20 millions yens to get that, so it is too expensive for many.

That is what the story tells. No more no less.

Not the perfect world you imagine.

This seems like an awful lot of hoo-hah for a kiss.

But when you consider that kiss was between a 46 year old celebrity and a 16 year old girl, it suddenly doesn't seem like as much 'hoo-hah'.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that "forcibly kissed" is some kind of code, like a "human accident" really means "Someone's jumped under a train and we can't move until we've finished scraping him up"?

This seems like an awful lot of hoo-hah for a kiss. I can't help wondering if there is a lot more attempted-rapey type of jiggery-pokery afoot.

@ Stranger - about your first post, fair enough, I even up-thumbed you, and no disrespect meant to your niece

Thank you.

Though they appear on TV almost every day, release tons of music and have sold out arena shows, how much to Johnny's acts really make?

I think the majority of them, if not all, receive a salary, like any job. Many of them are not particularly rich.

I am saying because of his trying to continue to work, he could just take his money and retire somewhere. However, he may not have all that much money.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I thought he gave resignation. Obviously he has serious problems and for the sake of the group it was best he to leave.

And we really don't know anything about the girl. I read she brought a friend so she had a witness. It could be staged but I also agree with Strangeland that teenage girls here are like 2-3 years behind their Western peers.

My daghter is 17, does hair modelling (in the industry?) and is totally inocent about boys. Although we protect her and warn her we actually don't feel secure and don't think she can protect herself in certain occasions.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

It was in the original story that they had previously worked together on an NHK set.

Assuming you're correct, that shows she's been on a set one time, not that she's in the industry.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Was she? I haven't seen that, but I also haven't been reading the specifics on this case too much. Do you have something to support your claim, or is it a suspicion of yours that you are asserting as fact?

Its a nest of sexual abusers - of all persuaions. I have only contempt for the whole lot of them.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Nothing overblown about booting out a predator. It should happen more often, even if it invokes the ire of the incel crowd and various broflakes.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

You can spout that "she's a minor and she's a victim" mantra all day long. But if a drunk ojisan invites you to his apartment, it's not because he wants to play checkers.

I know that and you know that, and his actions show that.

She knew what was up

This is where you begin speculation with no evidence though. I consider my 17 year old Japanese niece who is very innocent and pretty clueless as to the world, particularly when it comes to boys since she has gone to all-girls junior and senior high schools.

We know nothing about this girl. While it's possible that the girl did know what's up, in Japan I would say it's just as possible that she had no clue.

2 ( +10 / -8 )

I watched this on the news, it's hilarious how all the members are wearing funeral attire for this serious announcement

Good to see this perverted man-child getting some punishment. I would have liked to see him dragged through the courts and charged, but that would have been very difficult for the girl. I hope her settlement was enough to buy a house and not just a few maan.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Yubaru

they haven't taken any underage girls home now have they?

From what some people say, they take underage boys home. Also, if they did take anyone underage home, it was to ‘make them a Star!’ Hahahaha.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Good riddance. Someone needed to be the fall boy in this industry in Japan.

If you have a shred of remorse for the man, just remember, a man just got out of the hospital for alcohol abuse, immediately started drinking, and called a 16 year old girl over to his house hoping to get some. Premeditated or not, that's disgusting.

Don't be naïve, this is probably not even the first time it happened at Yamaguchi's house. Hopefully this incident makes women feel a little bit empowered to stand up and say it's not okay to prey on high school girls just because you have money and fame. Or even if you have neither!

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Read somewhere the settlement was ¥20,000,000 folliwed by comments on parents opportunistic.

Be nice to some where this was published/reported as the "wideshows" didnt mention any amount.

Once again O=V=E=R=B=L=O=W=N and an over-reaction by his management company. I'd love to have him go on camera and give the industry the finger.

Underage girl, in his apartment, trying to kiss her and lord only knows what else? Was it a set up? Who knows, as he paid her off, which suggests, guilt, and maybe, something more, seeing as how he has resigned.

Overblown? Maybe for somewhere else, but here.....no, not really.

And the suits that fired him go to snack bars every night trying to cop a quick feel and a kiss on tonight’s poor girl that has thrown her dignity to the wind for cash

Ahh, but the "suits" aren't in the limelight, and they haven't taken any underage girls home now have they? And if you think a kiss is all it takes to throw away one's dignity? "Poor" girl? I think there is a hell of a lot more that went on then is being reported.

As much as the guy made a mistake it is quite scary to see how the judgeMENTAL hyenas come out from the shadows on mass to scorn and tear apart the damned when they fall from grace. So many perfect people out there it seems.

2 ( +9 / -7 )

Jonny an associates management have been literally sexually abuseing "Talent" for years threatened legal action should any news outlet dare to expose their toxic culture. And throw this man under the bus? I'm not defending either, just making the point that the industry is vile. Predatory behavior is the norm.
