TV ‘talent’ Becky dating minor league baseball coach

TV “talent” Becky, 34, is currently dating Yasuyuki Kataoka, a coach for the minor league Yomiuri Giants baseball team. Sources say that the two met through a mutual friend in the television broadcasting industry and became a couple last month, Sankei Shimbun reported.

Both Becky’s talent agency and Yoshimoto Kogyo, a major entertainment company that manages Kataoka, confirmed earlier this week that the couple are dating.

Becky fell out of favor after a scandal in January 2016, involving an affair with Enon Kawatani, the lead singer of rock band Gesu no Kiwami Otome. After an “exile” from show business, Becky reemerged later that year.

Responding to many congratulatory comments from fans, Becky replied on Instagram, “I would like to move forward slowly and steadily.”

Ogura Tomoaki, the host of Fuji TV morning show “Tokudane,” and a close friend of Kataoka, congratulated the two on live television. He revealed that Kataoka sent him an email saying “things are in full swing.”

Who can that be, hmmmmmm?

Now we know who the mutual friend is at the very end! That is such an odd thing to say about dating someone. That sounds more like the beginning of master plan to takeover the world (In my "Pinky and the Brain" voice). Is he also getting into the industry?

Why the need to announce your private life in a press release? We think we should all do it.

Luddite would like to announce that she is planning to spend the weekend laying on the sofa, eating ice cream.

She didn't actually do anything wrong, if anyone did it was him, yet she was vilified as though she had done something unforgivable.

Yup. HE was the one who had the extramarital affair, not her. She wasn't married.

I missed her segments on Shimura Zoo, riding around on her pink scooter with her Shiba in the sidecar wearing goggles.

Why does a coach need to be represented by an entertainment company? This seems like Becky's representatives are trying to make her relevant again. In the eyes of the Japanese industry, she hasn't washed away the perceived stain of being a mistress that broke up the home of a popular musician. It is mostly the musician's fans that don't like her because he had to step away from music for awhile too.

Good for her, now we can all sleep warm and cozy again.

@Civitas Sine Suffragio: Why not just keep it simple and use the fine English translation: “Home Wreaker.”

The major use of fax machines in Japan is to confirm affairs, scandals, marriages, divorces and retirement of 'talent' from their respective agencies.

So how is this not a scandal now?

Oh thank god I read this news! I was having a bad day but now I know that Becky is dating again I feel good!

‘If I recall correctly all she did was have lunch with some married musician. ‘

They were having an affair. She accompanied him to his parents’ house and stayed there for New Years, which is how I think it came out.

Becky actually is an extremely nice person. I have this weird hobby of getting autographs from celebrities by writing fan letters to them and including a shikishi for the celebs to sign to send back to me. My wife likes some of Becky's tv shows so I wrote a letter to Becky for an autograph for my wife's birthday. She sent my wife a birthday card, letter, book and letter to me for my thoughtfulness. Don't judge a book by under the covers.....

Somebody please factcheck whether this guy is married or not!

I normally don't care about talents, but the whole scandal around her just pissed me off. If I recall correctly all she did was have lunch with some married musician. Hardly a scandal. She didn't actually do anything wrong, if anyone did it was him, yet she was vilified as though she had done something unforgivable.

The entertainment industry here is such a cesspit.

No pun intended.

@factchecker = spot on well said !

I'll admit it, calling her "talent" makes me click on the story. Then I'm always disappointed. I can't help it. Don't know why.

Should I be embarrassed?

I hope that she will be happy.

They must be the only people who still use them.

Of course, she's the focus of toxic male rage. Just check any article here and there will be ire and fury directed at women.

The entertainment industry here is such a cesspit.

Indeed.

Hehe, always amused by those who come in to such articles to protest how unimportant they find the subject matter. There are many articles in this and many other online contexts that I couldn't care less about, and hence I don't even give them first click.

In this lady's case, I happen to quite like her light hearted approach to life, and the fact that as a hafu she was achieving quite well is perhaps to be celebrated. The fact that I also quite liked the music of Kawatani and his band then made me a little sad when I could no longer stomach the sight of him because, to be honest, I was annoyed by the way his career revived rapidly in 2017 while hers has continued to languish. The double standard still present in the Japanese entertainment world is sad.

In summary, I hope this works out for her.

People groaning "who cares?" But clearly you did,cuz you needed to comment.

Agreed. But I still feel extra guilty for it. Doesn't that count?

It was the contrast between becky's squeaky clean image and the adulturous reality that did her in.

'Talent'? OK, in what? She's 34 and it looks like her Famous Fifteen Minutes are up. Time to take your prize money and get some good education, babe.

She's "dorobo nekko" and that means her image is tainted and her morality highly suspect.

I've read and re-read your statement but it doesn't make sense. Could you spare a moment to explain what you mean by it? Cheers.

"Home Wrecker"  "Talent"  Poor clueless bimbo might live her whole "life" in inverted commas.
