TV 'talent' Yuko Ogura announces divorce and expresses gratitude to ex-husband

Japanese TV personality and former gravure idol Yuko Ogura, 33, has announced her divorce from hair stylist Isao Kikuchi, 46.

The couple, who were married in October 2011, divorced on March 3. Ogura made it public in a blog post on Monday night.

The post was simply titled with the day’s date (March 6, 2017). She wrote: “I am terribly sorry to inconvenience you with my private affairs, but I would like to announce that my husband and I have chosen to go our separate ways. I am grateful to him for providing me with much happiness and memories, but above all, I am grateful for the two sons who are my irreplaceable treasures.”

In addition, Ogura touched upon negative news reports of her bickering with Kikuchi by strongly emphasizing, “There have been reports of us quarrelling during our marriage, but these allegations are untrue. The two of us civilly talked it out and mutually agreed upon this decision.”

She also mentions her desire to have Kikuchi present in bringing up their two sons in the future. “From henceforth, I would like to sustain a good relationship with my former husband as co-parents of our two children.”

She heartfeltly concludes, “I am sorry for causing many people to worry about me last year, but from now on, I will do my best as a mother of two, so please kindly watch over us with warmth. I sincerely appreciate your support.”

6 years, seems fairly long by celebrity standards

I personally did not like listening to her talk, her voice sounded like nails across a chalkboard to me.

That being said, I applaud her HERE for her desire to keep her ex in the loop! Divorce today does not carry the same stigma that it once did, it isnt perfect, but cutting off one spouse from their children is wrong. Just because adults may get divorced their is no reason the children should have to suffer too!

Good on her, and I wish them both, and their children the best!

'talent'

Sorry to be cynical, but I think this is a calculated publicity statement to notify of the divorce and keep the goodwill of fans with all those kind words for her ex.

“There have been reports of us quarrelling during our marriage, but these allegations are untrue. The two of us civilly talked it out and mutually agreed upon this decision.”

Who doesnt quarrel in a relationship? I quarrel daily but that's usually my fault according to the missus. Either way who cares which couples are quarreling, people should mind their own business.

So the father will likely get to see his kids twice a year...

It is not that you are always wrong, but she is always right.

Good on this lady for making a concerted effort to keep her ex as part of his kids lives.

Hopefully they can both effective follow through on that.

15th anniversary today for us, quarrels pretty much standard way of communicating when we both have strong opinions. It works for us.

I wouldn't be able to stand any relationship where there is constant bickering. Been there, done that. If a woman can't communicate like a mature adult, then she's not worth my time. I've become a master at diffusing any situation where she's ready to blow her top, and it does NOT always involve me admitting she was right.

Anyway, I think this "talent" maybe did have that kind of relationship where there weren't many fights because there just was any interest in each other. They just realized it's time to move on to find others that might get their juices flowing.

" “I am sorry for causing many people to worry about me last year, ..."

This might sound cryptic to those who don't know the background details left out of this article. Ogura gave birth to their second son just in November last year. While pregnant, in August Kikuchi's affair with another female talent managed by the same agency as Ogura was made public.

Good on both of them for not washing their dirty laundry in public.

“From henceforth, I would like to sustain a good relationship with my former husband as co-parents of our two children

That's progress. Well done Japan!!

Gravure was all she was good at. Her 2 kids must be happy bunnies.

To Japanese women who are divorced or in the process of getting a divorce, take notes. This is what a decent woman does.

She used to be all over the television until she dumped her agency. Since then the whole industry has pretty much shunned her. This is what happens when you don't play ball according the the agency industry. A very ugly cartel. Otherwise good luck with the new life. Probably better off without a hair stylist as a husband.

"I will do my best as a mother of two, so please kindly watch over us with warmth."

Is this some twee Japanese sentiment that there isn't a direct English equivalent for?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Not interested in her private life, but as veejay says, she used to be on TV everyday and then all of a sudden she wasn't. I didn't know that it was because she left her agency. What a horrible closed shop the system is.

Who will do her hair now?

ummmm, you DO realize that this was what her PR people told her to say?

Happy anniversary !

(If only my "ex" had thought the way you do...)

She's 33??!! Wow.

She started appearing in bikinis what seems like 20 years ago - and she looked very, very young I recall. A veritable stick figure.

Gorgeous looking woman.

Gorgeous looking woman.

Really, you think so? Nothing special in my book. Pretty average...

Am guessing there is a mistress involved somewhere....or maybe a new sugar daddy!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

So what "talent" is she supposed to have? Other than self publicity that is.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Why are so many of you talking about her appearance? Not relevant.

I feel sorry for her. She has to make a statement, then is forced to say she's 'grateful' for the man who ran off with another woman while pregnant with his child. If anything, he should make a statement about how he should be grateful.

Plus, there's the notorious three b's that women in Japan say that you should never date > バーテンダー、バンドマン、美容師. Bar staff, Bandmen and Hair stylists.

Why are so many of you talking about her appearance? Not relevant.

Because I googled her to re-familiarize myself with her work. And as she made a living on the way she looks, which in my humble opinion is pretty great, it's entirely relevant to her celebrity.

I personally did not like listening to her talk, her voice sounded like nails across a chalkboard to me.

I think she purposely used a high squeaky voice since, sadly, women in this profession are often expected to act childlike. If you dig up old videos of her from before she became well-known, she has a much deeper and far more pleasant voice.

It is not that you are always wrong, but she is always right.

And this people - is the secret to a long and happy marriage life. You don't always have to be right - and there are times when you are right and you should keep your mouth shut.

Am guessing there is a mistress involved somewhere....or maybe a new sugar daddy!

Since Kikuchi is a hair dresser there is a better than even chance that he would be the one with the new sugar daddy.
