Seagal is another of those spoilt, deluded denizens of the Hollywood Goldfish Bowl who cannot distinguish between movies and reality. Clueless cozying up to real-life killers is to disrespect the memory of the many thousands of poor who were preyed upon and whose lives were stolen by ruthless armed thugs doing the dirty for Duterte. I hope Seagal washed his hands after the photo-op and that one day he will have the decency to take down the shameful photo from the wall of his mansion and toss it into the trash can.

Steve could flatten a few drug gangs just with his bare hands.

Or just by sitting on them.

Don’t know what’s worse , this picture or Seagull’s “acting”

Geez it looks like he got one of those spray-on hair hats that you see some Japanese ojisans with.

Go old in style and grace man, that's what I plan to do! Bruce Willis shows us the way.

Seagal is an amazing martial artist and early pioneer of Aikido, which was obscure in the west at the time.

But before he goes declaring war on social ills in Eastern Europe and SE Asian dictatorships, he needs to declare war on his belly.

Not well known, but Seagal was an English teacher in Japan when he was young.

Are judging Seagal by his real skills or by his movie appearance.

A direct student of Ueshiba-San wasn't impressed with him, we rent near of his Dojo.

Plus he is a womaniser, strange after he converted to Tibetan Buddhism(he is a reincarnation of a lama).

I got little regard for him, given his history.

BTW, Bruce Wayne(Batman) studied Aikido, wasn't all that unknown.

I heard a rumor that Seagal was expelled from the dojo for intentionally injuring other students.

However, given Seagal's size and strength, he'd be "hard to kill" even without martial arts skills.

Is it just me, or has Steven become quite, um, what is the PC term,... large?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

I believe the proper term is "curvy."

and he married a Japanese woman and has kid(s) like half or more of us on this site. We are all Steven Seagal lol

His son is named Kentaro Seagal and has frequent run-ins with the police. Maybe he thinks he is above the law because of his father's status. Or maybe he likes to play on deadly ground. Either way, his family reputation is under siege, when his father's recent antics are added.

I'm no fan of the guy, but watch some of his old aikido stuff is pretty impressive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwFwSIMmq4g

As a side note, he speaks better Japanese than the huge majority of posters on this site I'd bet. I've watched him do interviews on Japanese TV in full Japanese.

"I'm just a cock."

Sorry, "cook".

With the drug industry in the PH spreading and entrenched everywhere from the streets to the police and mayors and even the church, it would take maybe 100 Dutertes and Steven Seagals to clean half of it in 20 years.

The country is so rotten with drugs that their Supreme Court Chief Justice even supported a move to free a former Justice Minister who is now a Senator who was jailed for dealing and profiting from the drug lords right in the national penitentiary.

Bad guy drug lord in 'Machete', which was about as close to reality -

Duterte told Seagal that "movies are a reflection of life"

as we are going to get here.

Seven Seagal, the most notable Russian exponent of aikido in the world (from about 25 November last year)

Maybe the Filipino president will be in his next movie! Wouldn't surprise me at all.

Is he really 'that' good? I know very little about him and always thought he was just some kind of Hollywood-flavoured tai-chi/ shaolin kung-fu guy i.e more about the philosophy, postures, breathing etc than 'fighting' as such and made a living out of it.

Re Aikido, I actually think it was more popular in the 80s (or even before, perhaps) than it is now. All about MMA and kick boxing these days.

Steve could flatten a few drug gangs just with his bare hands. no no Steven could probably falten one maybe two, but if you really want to wipe them all out the you need to bring in Chuck Norris

"It's a place that's up and coming with the new leadership," the Philippine Star reported him as saying.

Up and coming. And that's just the blossoming body bad industry.

Is Seagal the new Dennis Rodman?

Indeed it has. And look it him now, cosying up to the leader who advocates rape and makes jokes about it.

Disgusting.

Seagal has always and only practiced Aikido. His recent dabbling in Eastern spirituality is probably just a mid life crisis thing.

Seagal popularized a more aggressive, hard hitting style of Aikido when Hollywood was all about Karate and Ninja.

@ Strangerland

Which, of course, makes him a better person than any of us, right...?

For the record, I have heard enough negative stories about this guy - nearly all of them first hand - to fill a good book or two. His attempts to get his hands on Jimi Hendrix's famed white Fender Stratocaster, which was left in the keeping of Hendrix's girlfriend following his death, are legendary. Likewise, his claims to have been a CIA operative in Asia are laughable. Guy made a couple of decent movies in the 80s but is now straight to DVD...and with good reason.

He must be looking for Filipina wife.

First, Nico's movie stream only lasted about 4-5 films, and after that got more and more ridiculous as he is a one trick pony. All his movies since are direct to DVD trash (action versions of Mega Shark vs Two Headed Octopus).

Second, the guy uses the same 3 moves in every one of his movies, even the first few which are what gave him a career. So most people think he is cooler, tougher or more skilled than reality.

Third, anytime a celebrity says something about visiting any place (or anything about its people, culture, etc), take it with a handful of salt. Do you actually believe he traveled there alone or never uses security/bodyguards - same as all these other A, B, C and D list celebrities? Maybe the size of the entourage might vary, but they are not walking down dark street alone. Just like they proclaim how wonderful all the people are and great the culture is on every press junket - well of course it is when you are in a country that invited you, knows you for being famous, and everyone is kissing your ass.

Lastly, is the Philippines dangerous? Depends what you consider dangerous. Be a light skinned foreigner and go too far to the north or south, and you run a massive increase in kidnapping by one of the various Islamic terror groups or home-grown rebel groups. On the flip side, go to Makati and enjoy some nice restaurants, shopping, lounging around and you are totally safe. Seeing shotgun totting guards at every bank, mall, etc gives one pause to question if it is safe, but having been there dozens of times without issue. Could be luck or truth.
