Fights common sense and quality art, that's what it does. Females were always an essential part of stories and art, being the catalyst and inhibitor, an element always crucial and supportive. Those who want to see more females killing people, dominating enemies or doing the stuff that they say "female characters lack doing", well... should check their moral values integrity.

As for enrolling more females into the industry... if they are capable, sure, fill the credits with their names. But if this is only happening as a part to "strengthen female" narrative, then they are not doing them a favour by letting them in when they don't understand what they are doing.

"So you have all male team(s) developing female characters. That can be a big problem."

So likewise it would be a big problem for all female teams to develop male characters?

It is stupid to push young girls into male dominated fields when they can decide for themselves what they want to do with their lives. If enough decide to go into the profession then it may someday become a female dominated field.

For some reason there are people that cannot stand the fact that there are not enough women in this field, or not enough black people in that field, or not enough trans lesbians in this other one. Strangely they have no problem if women, blacks, or some other non-white male dominated field is over represented based on their percentage of the population.

The inconvieniet truth for the bean counters is that women are less attracted to some professions than men. Where are the articles about the lack of women garbage collectors? I guess they are fine with sticking men with the less than glamorous yet very important professions. In the West (not necessarily Japan) women have overtaken men in college graduation. Women aren’t the ones who need the encouragement in higher education.
