The United Nations estimates that around 377,000 people have died in Yemen since the war began in 2014, with roughly 60% from famine and preventable disease. Children account for 70% of the total. That's a lot of dead children.

According to the World Food Programme (WFP), some 16.2 million Yemenis, or about 45 percent of the total population, are food insecure. The UN agency has warned that more than five million people were on the brink of famine while 50,000 others were living in famine-like conditions.

According to the Campaign Against The Arms Trade, The UK’s biggest arms company, BAE Systems, has made £17.5 billion in revenue from services and sales to Saudi Arabia since 2015. Between 2016 and 2020 Saudi Arabia was the world's biggest importer of arms and the US was the largest exporter, with 13 of the top 25 arms exporters all American.

I wonder if this would have even made news if it wasn't for Jolie.

No, lots of people care about this, but celebrities can help to spread the word. Good on Angelina Jolie for doing this.
