They need to do a reboot of The Monster Squad. "Wolf man has balls!" Pure class!

Before you know it, Hollywood will start making remakes and reboots of movies released the year before.

Been doing it for years. If it's a good reboot/remake/sequel; no worries but sadly, so many of them end up being lesser creations.

John Brown - that movie is a favorite childhood memory of mine.

i'm a bit tired of the spiderman/boy reboots. how many times can we see uncle charlie die already?
but a reboot i wanna see is the harry potter series. quidditch can be done a lot better, and so can a lot of the other graphics that they used.

Tom Cruise seems so out of place in this movie. He no longer has the star power with younger generation in the US anymore. It is like they are laying "the Mission Impossible template" on all of his movies.
No one believes that one over-the-top action star is the only person who can save the world from boogie man or woman. Those kinds of movies are no longer popular with the younger. This is why Arnold, Sylvestor, and Dolph are no longer big. My advice would be for him to transition to other movie genres or supporting roles. Maybe work on improving his acting skills, and go after an Oscar. Arnold and Harrison gets it. It is time for Tom to switch lanes.
I think that this a mistake. Johnny Depp has already been basically defined by "Pirates of the Carribbean" and "Alice and Wonderland". They would do better with younger attractive lesser known actors and actresses. The would go over well with the younger generation who companies want to continue to watch the franchise.
Fast and Furious is popular mostly because of who the stars are outside of the film. They rappers, R&B singers, and actresses/actors who do other cool stuff. The franchise business like F/F, Marvel, and DC is doing well because they have a whole team of stars in one movie. Each person has their own following that brings success to each movie as whole.
I agree. Make good movies and find actors that best compliment the movie. Don't find big actors and then make a movie around them. It isn't going work!

I can not remember how many times I have seen that and the much better known Goonies. Both were classics in my opinion.
"This is why Arnold, Sylvestor, and Dolph are no longer big."
They are also much older. Sadly I can not remember the last time I saw a new Jackie Chan movie in the theater... But I still prefer most of their older movies to a lot of the crap that comes out today, some so bad they never even get to the big screen.
The original Total Recall, Terminator 1 and 2, True Lies, etc. (I was never a big Rocky fan, although I did like 5, coincidently with Dolph.) Rambo was good, etc. I really like Kurt Russel as well. What are those movies that bring all the old action stars together?
Heck I use to like Van Dam before the Street Fighter dud. And I still like Tom Cruise. Not sure about Top Gun 2 though... And I miss Mel... Regardless what you say about him now, he was fun to watch. And of course Clint, from back in the day.
Tom Cruise as the Master Chief... It could work...
As far as the new dark universe, if the movies are good and they can truly be linked and not only partially done, it could be good. But yea, I have been done with Spider Man, Bat Man and Super Man, X-Men for a while now. Now Deadpool is where it is at!

I bought in a store (sold really cheap clothes) that I don't remember the name of in my home town on VHS for 5 pounds and then watched the hell out of it with my brother.
I think I'll have to watch it with my son asap.
They just don't make movies like they used to.............

My favorite reboot is The Bounty (1984). Anthony Hopkins, Mel Gibson, Liam Neeson, Daniel Day Lewis, Laurence Olivier in probably the best version of the famous mutiny. Although, I'd put Clarke Gable's version up there and I do have a soft spot for the Brando interpretation.
As for The Mummy; meh. Might watch it on the telly at some stage but Bubba Ho Tep with Bruce Campbell is deadly. The plot? Elvis is in a retirement home, which comes under attack from a mummy. Genius.

there will always be people that go to a cinema to watch a movie and the people that do it don't mind if there is a stinker because these people that habitually go to cinemas these days have no taste. Film and the rest of art died long ago. Everything is just a business these days.

Well, I told people that this movie would get spanked. Fortunately, the non-western markets think he is still a big star. Because many Asian markets are lacking in terms of quality films, anything western with a big name can get new life here that includes acting careers. He'll probably be visiting Japan later this year.

The original Mummy series with Brendan Fraser were a big adventure series, like a lot of remakes will be a poor version
Toasted Heretic
I prefer the Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee versions, myself.

I prefer the Rachel Weisz version (of anything). I'd pay $ to watch her read the phonebook.
