I will be watching, avidly. However, I am mindful that while the whole thing looks bloody and gorgeous, the characterisations of some of the players have gone off, somewhat. Tyrion, in particular. This could be to do with the divergence from the books and a rush for the producers and writers to cram in their own tidy ending?

I have a notion that (if and when George gets round to it) the author's ending of the books will be very different and dark to the series. Even if he did sit down with Benioff and Weiss to plan the telly finales.

I don't want George RR Martin to rush the books, whatever happens . It would ruin the flow, especially if he's not enjoying the gig. You can tell when authors get locked into something they don't enjoy.

In the meantime, I cannot recommend Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen highly enough. Not for the faint-hearted, the books drop you right into the action and don't hold your hand through the tricky parts.

If it differs from the books, that'll be good. I could look forward to reading the books sometime (when I have enough time) without knowing everything will be spoiled.

"Being strong" won't get you anywhere. If you don't like the violence, don't watch it. But if you do, I think it is the best series ever by far. Which has the downside of making other shows look tame in comparison, but oh well.
