Next 'Star Wars' series to hit Disney streaming service in May

I see that Marvel and Disney have also been jumping on the bandwagon of 'Let's just re-imagine (nearly said rip off...) other people's works, who are in no position to challenge them , money in mind and no respect to the creator(s).

Brings to mind the hideous 'Watchmen' TV show, NOT sanctioned by Alan Moore, even when asked, and the recent WTF 'The Watch': Head in hands for Terry Pratchett.

I could go on, but let's face it, TV is low risk compared to movies- You get what you're given.

So will the new series allow for talent to share wishes of harmony with your neighbors and fellow citizens? Or will they be fired as well?

That goes for the comic book prequels and sequels as well as the critically acclaimed, award winning series that has irked a few purists.

I'd be grumpy too, if I'd written what Alan Moore has and, thanks to greedy publishers and movie companies, received very little for the movies and TV show.

Award winning? Acclamation and awards are for success, not necessarily quality.

Taking the antihero of the novel and turning him into the accidental villain- real imagination at work there.

Kind of an anti-reboot.

Weren’t the last three ‘sequels(?)’ “The Bad Batch” of StarWars movies? (Of course, after the prequels,... by some opinions).

Loki, like the SW sequels, is another ‘bait and switch’. Not a joke about gender-equality but, Hiddleston will be in 1-2 episodes then, Loki will become a female character. Even the mantle, ‘god of thunder’ is also being handed from Thor to his estranged girlfriend.

Please employ a top notch screenwriter, the dialogue toe curling.....

The most enjoyable way to watch Star Wars is with the sound on mute.

Yes, Lucas was a visionary (‘Dune’) but not a screenwriter.

Episode 4, ex-wife Marcia Lucas (under-appreciated) saved the movie “in editing”;

Episodes 5, Leigh Bracket and Lawrence Kasdan made it ‘a classic’ {Carrie Fisher(uncredited) rewrote some dialogue}

Episode 6, well,...George (Ewoks).

He never got to do Dune, though.

They ignore your input. The last movies made over a billion dollars each. I'm pretty sure that anonymous internet hack's input is entirely useless to them, and that they have much smarter marketers on their staff than we have on JT.

You are not a hack! @Rolf Anderson 12:12a JST. Abrams and Johnson are ‘the hacks’. You just didn’t ‘pay tribute’ to ‘the exalted ones’ before offering your humble opinion. (It’s ‘Strange‘ the amount of ‘gatekeeping’ that goes around the various media here in Japan.) Even JarJar Abrams acknowledged the influence of ‘Fandom Menace’ - Luke Skywalker’s recent cameo is a step forward, in the right direction! Remember- “All who wonder are not lost” - “Long Live the Fandom Menace!”

Btw: Saw your recommendation @Toasted: Alejandro Jodorowsky's Dune (2013) Am.-Fr. doc directed by Frank Pavich, about Jodorowsky's unsuccessful attempt in the mid-1970s to adapt and film Frank Herbert's classic 1965 sci fi novel. It’s evident where George Lucas got many of ‘his’ ideas.

If  Jodorowsky had made Dune, it would probably be proscribed now, as He's probably more (in)famous for his rape scene and claim of its genuineness (for publicity or no) in 'El Topo' than anything else.

Imagine how that would go down today...

@0rei0 Read and agreed with your posts here. Think that’s why he sought to produce his ’Dune’ ideas and storyboard artwork in his own comic books but later they were censored as well.

Disney produced anti-fascist cartoons in the 40s, don't believe that affected their popularity.

Ironically, Walt was quite right wing in his outlook, as opposed to his father, who was socialist.

As for Star Wars, apart from wizards and Eastern influences, it has always been about defeating the Nazis. Where do you think the name Stormtroopers came from?
