Men should have more say? Hmm...
Historically, it has been either exclusively or largely the men who make decisions about women's bodies. Religious leaders, pater familias, lawmakers... for thousands of years men made rules that governed what women could or couldn't do, not only in the Western world. Look at the results. I have never seen a society or an era where women exclusively make decisions about men's bodies and lives in general.
John Richardson
And lastly I think men should have more say, you know equality & all that, but sadly mens opinions count for 0 in this. BUT if a woman decides to have a baby guess who is on the hook in EVERY state, men, that's who, men have zero choice, THAT is neither fair nor equal. How about if women terminate a pregnancy that men want to see through that the women then MUST pay the man.....again equality, how about it.
Someone somewhat gets it. Equality for the father's mind and right, as well as the child's body. We have nothing but selfish witches these days. Far from a mother Taresa. I am sure nobody here, having a mother, would have been ok with them being aborting because it was her choice.. Highly doubt it. We appreciate mothers and parents for the sacrifices and struggles they gave for us. It is something to do with love I think. The animal kingdom seems to get it right over people. But even births these days are fake as there is a total stranger giving birth because the mother wants to look good on instragram pics. pathetic.

Not all Georgians agree with this law. We are fighting against it and other far right AND far left bills shoved onto us. In an AJC poll:
https://www.ajc.com/news/state--regional-govt--politics/ajc-poll-strong-support-for-roe-opinion-closer-heartbeat-bill/jWr5L1S5kooo7akOCkfzGM/
We ain't as backwards as ya'll think. Much of the support is from rural voters.
70% of Georgians don't want to overturn Roe vs Wade according to the same poll.
Georgia has some beautiful mtns and forests, BTW. Flying into ATL, you'll see mostly trees, not miles and miles of concrete like other urban places.

But those companies are run by the very people you are talking about. How else are they supposed to voice their opinion? They can’t just up and leave and when asked why, just say ‘oh, no reason.’

Personally I am pro choice, having said that I would hope abortion is the last resort & doesn't become just another form of birth control which it most certainly has for some sadly. BUT they should have the choice.
But I think companies etc should stay out of politics, as another pointed out this is the realm of the PEOPLE or at least it SHOULD BE, but not companies, but sadly companies have way more SAY in politics than a countries PEOPLE.
THIS IS A PROBLEM in my opinion.

I think Georgia is going to far BUT I think companies should keep OUT of the politics in the public eye, they can still stay or go, but should stay out of public discussions like this I think.

Crazy and evil things such as? I'm sorry but I just don't see how one can lay the responsibility of most crazy and evil things that happen in this world with a right of choice on abortion.
Andrew Crisp
Considering a lot of Studios get tax breaks for filming in specific States and Countries, it would probably do Georgian taxpayers(and others) a favour - Somebody has to stand up for the unborn, to many babies are being aborted because the child is an inconvenience.
stormcrow
Movie director and actor Ron Howard was interviewed recently and stated that he would boycott filming in Georgia and any other state which bans abortions and a woman's right to choose.
Very impressive.

This is essentially the same as an person/family who decide to move states because they decide their morals don’t align with the laws of the state. Would you blame a staunch Republican who didn’t want to live in California, or a Democrat that didn’t want to live in Alabama?
The only difference is in scale. These are large organizations, and therefore moving is both costly, as well as a hit to employment and the economy in the state they leave. So of course the company is going to say something before they leave.
The only time you ever use an ultimatum is when it’s a truthful statement of the current state of events.
Now Georgia and Georgians Can be unhappy about it, but they should be realistic that if they want to impose their moral beliefs on people whether they like it or not, and/or if they vote for people who create laws to do that, that will not sit will with large numbers of people, and of course they will avoid your state. If you want them to stay, you’re going to have to find some way to entice them that allows them to overlook their distaste in your legal choices.
This is just human nature and how the game of life works.
John Richardson
Its truly sickening in this day and age you have more people and women supporting the slaughter of children in the womb than taking responsibility and accountability of the greatness parenthood/motherhood. Making their vaginas and wombs slaughter tombs. I remember my American friend who lived in tokyo had his child murdered against his will. Though at the time there were so many 'dekichata kekkons' going on at the time with j celebs, his was a legit relationship with his fiancee.. He wanted to take full responsibility for the child, but she was so eager to murder the child. It was ridiculous someone would do that. Truly horrific and scary you have people who operate and walk among us like that. it must be some kind of deranged power trip or something. It is no wonder you have so many crazy and evil things happening with such wickedness going on.

Ok so you won’t explain how their actions are different than the actions you are demanding? They are choosing not to do business with people they don’t agree with, you are choosing not to do business with people you don’t agree with. If there is something else, you still haven’t explained it. Film companies can choose to film anywhere they want and Georgia doesn’t have to change their laws if they don’t want to.
Strangerland
And we’re sick of governments imposing religious sharia law on women’s bodies. At least Hollywood is only giving an opinion. Georgia is creating law. Infinitely more egregious.

Wherever they film TWD, I'm sure it'll continue to look cheesy...
Toasted Heretic
Hollywood has being doing that since its inception. Just look at the dreadful Birth of a Nation which has found currrency with today's nazis.
The studios are correct in making a stand. America is rapidly becoming a theocracy, run by rich, angry white men who seek to control women and their bodies.
It is becoming a bit like those countries in the Middle East that the right wingers like to wage war on.
How ironic.
Kestrel
The irony - Disney, whose main audience for decades has been children, protests moves to spare the lives of unborn children.
Walt is spinning in his grave.
darknuts
Yes. Not killing unborn fetuses is barbaric.
Seriously, I'm sick and tired of Hollywood getting involved in politics! Your job is to entertain us! That's what we pay you for! We do not pay you to get involved in politics and push your political views on us! Cut it out!!
And for the record, I support abortion rights. I just don't like Hollywood jumping on the political bandwagon all the time.
Strangerland
Well, that's the twisted viewpoint of it.
The other viewpoint is that a bunch of humans who work at a company are disgusted by the inhumanity being forced upon the citizens of the state, and are choosing to vote with their a$$es as a result.
Georgia doesn't have to change their law, any more than these studios have to film in Georgia.
Toasted Heretic
Time to take a stand on these barbaric, misogynist laws.
extanker
If so, please explain.

I discovered to day that 26 states won't allow citizens to gather signatures to put referendums on the ballot.
Georgia is one of those states, unfortunately.
THAT is the first thing we need to get passed is the right of Georgians to place referendums and Constitutional Amendments on the ballots. Then we can overrule our idiot representatives to keep them out of our bedrooms, doctor offices, family planning location, pharmacies, toy stores, and bars.
Why do some people feel the need to force their religions onto others and control their behavior over personal matters? I get it - your religion says abortions are bad. Then don't get one.
I think Disney needs to be boycotted, but not for this.
Bugle Boy of Company B
Disney must be the biggest lobby monster of all. With all that money, they can have a real effect on politics. Good or bad. Whether you agree with them or not.
If that power existed in an individual, you can be sure the government would do something about it.
CrazyJoe
Good for any company taking a stand against these ridiculous laws.
The people of Georgia should lie in the bed they made; especially if their backwardness costs them their jobs.
extanker
If you want to boycott them because they don't agree with your stance on abortion I get it, but because they 'enforce groupthink'? They're putting their money where their mouths are and standing up for something they believe in. Whether you agree with it or not doesn't make them wrong. They're already risking probably millions of dollars by not filming in one of the most Hollywood-friendly locations in the country.
Strangerland
Criticizes organizations for group think. Calls for group think against said organizations. Clearly doesn't see the hypocrisy.
Strangerland
Umm, you obviously don't know what fascism is.
And are you suggesting that these companies should be forced to spend their money in a place they don't want?
Because that mate, is fascism.
