People seem to forget Megan is an actress and Morgan is a TV celebrity. They both make lots of money on creating attention and stories(fictional or not) to promote themselves. Enough said about both.

Love Piers, good on him for NOT apologizing. I think he is absolutely correct and good on him for standing his ground.

A vile, disgusting man.

What makes you think this?

She has history of lying & fabricating stories

I'm really offended by the number of chins he has.

Not really a fan of that idiot Jeremy Clarkson, but sometimes I'm on team Clarkson.

But it's basically career suicide when you point out the race card, as said above.

Why do white people always bang on about race cards?

They don't.

Who cares? It’s all smoke and mirrors.

Info-tainmemt

They’re equally toxic people just switch off the TV and the problem goes away

Despite that, I kind of agree that some of MM's claims appear to be fabrications or the work of a fevered imagination.

What makes you think this?

What his support (or not) for Orange has to do with this story escapes me. He is indeed obnoxious (has made a career out of being so) as well as obsequious (watch some of his celebrity interviews). He will be back as he unfortunately appeals to our baser natures (or those of millions of viewers/readers etc). Despite that, I kind of agree that some of MM's claims appear to be fabrications or the work of a fevered imagination.

No wonder he's a Trump supporter...

No, he isn't. He's goes at both sides.

Wrong. He was a Trump friend and supporter for over 10 years - he only criticized Trump after the Jan 6th insurrection...

He's a toad...

Liar & a Disgrace' Heated Debate Between Piers & Shola Over Meghan Markle's Oprah Interview | GMB

This is why the over a million viewers watch.

What I want to watch and hear, is open and honest public debate on subject matter that is increasingly being ignored by programme makers, because of fear that putting accusations of racism under the media spotlight, and questioning the accusers motives will result in being shut down/shut out,

Absolutely.

The best way of achieving this is getting rid of blowhards like Piers Morgan from primetime / flagship TV programmes, and employing people with serious knowledge about a wide range of topics that can actually debate and discuss issues deeply.

It's hard to find this on mainstream TV now (in the UK and US anyway), as all that matters now is clicks, and views of clips shared on social media and YouTube etc.

Long-form podcasting is the place to find open and honest debate, but it has the barrier of not being mainstream. Most people will tend to just create their own playlist echo chamber rather than seeking out people that might challenge their own opinions.

The result is yesterday is toxic example of the cancel culture in action.

Piers Morgan is a great example of someone who deserves to be canceled - just like he was 'canceled' for his behaviour as editor of one of the highest selling British tabloids.

All he is is someone who wants to make controversial comments to get clicks, column inches, and attention. He is willing to offend, troll, and argue for the sake of arguing in order to achieve this. He's a Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Donald Trump, Katie Hopkins wannabe.

It is a good thing that he has been 'canceled' - if that's what you want to call it. More accurately he's been fired, or requested to leave, for being a dick who apparently wouldn't apologize for being utterly dickish on a morning TV show about issues of race and mental health - for which he has absolutely no qualification to be making such sweeping and damaging comments about.

No wonder he's a Trump supporter...

To be fair to him, he later turned on Trump over the election fraud nonsense. He gave Sarah Palin a hard time after she tried to defend Trump’s crackpottery. I’ll give him some credit for grilling the Tories over their bungling and outright lies regarding Covid.

To be honest, I thought that was more playing to public sentiment than conviction. He has a tabloid editor’s approach to everything. I can’t get that phone-hacking filth out of my head when I see him.

No great loss to broadcasting. I can see a ranting podcast turning up. I won’t be watching it.

Morgan simply voiced an opinion, if one doesn’t agree with that opinion, debate the reasoning.

I guess you didn't watch the exchange - Shapiro was voicing HIS opinion. Rather than listen to him, then respond to those comments, Morgan decided to make a diva-like, huffy departure....like any two-year old...

The result is yesterday is toxic example of the cancel culture in action.

Seems to me that with HIS decision to get up and walk out, he decided to cancel himself...

And talk to us about Trump ranting that Fox News should cancel Karl Rove's contract - assume you think that's cancel-culture gone wild also...

Whatever one personal opinion of Pier Morgan, call him all the names under the sun.

It is unmistakable before tuning in to ITV GMB, Morgan is going to launch a no hole barred interrogation of any invited participant on air, followed by a frank and opinionated put down.

So much so Johnson government, cabinet and minsters boycotted the programme.

Morgan yesterday achieved the GMB highest audience rating figures.

And yet today Morgan refused an apology, so was faced having to step down.

This is not freedom being able to voice ones opinion in a democratic country with a open and free press.

It is the poisonous toxic behavior of the cancel culture infesting British political chattering classes

-2 ( +8 / -10 )

Whatever the publics opinion on Piers Morgan, is beside the point.

Morgan as a broadcaster for ITV Good Morning Britain, rather bluntly voice doubt on Harry and Megan version of events that led both to step down from Royal duties.

What followed was a politically orchestrated social media campaign to have Morgan removed, thus leading to Morgan having to voluntary step down.

Morgan simply voiced an opinion, if one doesn’t agree with that opinion, debate the reasoning.

The result is yesterday is toxic example of the cancel culture in action.

If it is not statues, it is broadcaster paid to voice there opinion.

All the overly sensitive PC’ers will be celebrating

All the apologists for bigotry will be mourning the loss of an anti-gun advocate.

Funny old rock and roll world, eh.

Morgan dubbed Meghan "Princess Pinocchio"

Well, he would know wouldn't he, as one of the most mendacious, opinionated trashmongers in media who has made millions from his poisonous public presence as an influencer feeding the insatiable appetite of gullible scandal addicts.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

I always thought Morgan was an arrogant, entitled toad....his two-year old "I'm leaving in a huff" just confirmed it...

No wonder he's a Trump supporter...

5 ( +15 / -10 )

Piers Morgan doing a grand job as a one-man embodiment of the racism, snobbery and grotesque hypocrisy at the heart of the Murdoch/Mail tabloid culture.

Meghan Markle, Marcus Rashford, Louis Hamilton and Raheem Sterling all demonised by the redtops recently. What could it be that they all have in common?

He was also deeply implicated in the UK tabloid phone hacking scandal where the press hacked private voicemails and emails of numerous people in order to print ‘news’ and salacious gossip.

Exactly. He's trash, like media he works for.

-1 ( +14 / -15 )

Funny: He was taken out behind the woodshed by Ben Shapiro during his CNN days. He put it very bluntly that he was grandstanding. He may be telling the truth in this case. But it's basically career suicide when you point out the race card, as said above.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

@nagoya

exactly !

"just another reminder that anyone who criticizes Meghan Markle is deemed a racist bully."

13 ( +22 / -9 )

Morgan dubbed Meghan "Princess Pinocchio" in a tweet, and said on Monday that he did not "believe a word she said" in the interview.

Thats ironic because this is the man who was sacked as editor of The Mirror for publishing fake photos of UK soldiers abusing an Iraqi prisoner. The photos had been staged.

He was also deeply implicated in the UK tabloid phone hacking scandal where the press hacked private voicemails and emails of numerous people in order to print ‘news’ and salacious gossip.

So if you want to talk about fakeness, or dishonestly, or a lack of moral compass, look no further.

The man is, in my opinion, an abhorrent blowhard, who’s personal opinions on anything are worthless.

"scrounger"

Right on the money! Well said!

10 ( +18 / -8 )

I have never liked Morgan but he was right on the money about Meghan. She is a narcissistic, arrogant, manipulative bully who got sussed out by the British public and so, naturally, had to resort to playing the race card. I hope she returns the huge money that the British taxpayer had to part with to keep her in luxury. A whining, entitled, detestable scrounger.

9 ( +28 / -19 )

If only Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and perhaps the entire cast of Fox would follow suit...

8 ( +22 / -14 )

All the overly sensitive PC’ers will be celebrating

2 ( +17 / -15 )

Morgan, 55, has accused himself of seeking publicity on his own terms without accepting the responsibility and scrutiny that come with his position.

If only.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Good riddance. His thinly veiled racism will not be missed. I especially loved the part where he slandered Megan and then stormed off in a huff when politely called to account by a gentleman of color.
