Is the US one of the only countries in the west where a quoting the bible doesn't lose you an election ?

It's a broad tent on the right. Religious people like this are a small (but noisy)fraction of that tent. Dems have their share of extreme views also. Why the country is so divided.

Its funny how much overlap there is in the TV viewing tastes of Republican politicians in the US like this guy on the one hand, and Islamic fundamentalists on the other who complain about basically the exact same kind of stuff.

Unbelievable how stupid these politicians are - all his comments have done is give the show an incredible amount of free advertising.

I had never heard of it but am now looking forward to checking it out.

Danny DeVito is a trip. He's one funny actor who makes me ROFL. And Johnson needs to SHUT UP! Shut his stupid face! This is no affair of his.

Absolutely. In the 80s that loudmouth ignoramus Tipper Gore started those hearings and the PMRC, trying to tell my generation what music to listen to. And even today, if I met her, I would tell it straight and directly to her haughty face: 'SHUT UP!'.

“Some noted that “Little Demon” was made for and marketed to adults. Children should be in bed by 10 p.m.”

An obvious point which makes Mr johnson’s complaints rather foolish. Especially when he appears to be such a proponent of ‘free speech’.

14 ( +18 / -4 )

… also, I thought these idiots had already boycotted Disney because they had a gay character in something. How many times can you boycott them??

11 ( +14 / -3 )

More people trying to cancel free speech. They constantly talk about "cancel culture" on the Left, but come on, they're 100% the same in their own way. When Republicans and Democrats finally sit down and admit that they're just using divisive politics as a means to get votes and that they're both hypocrites.... then maybe the USA will move forward in a positive way. But it is very doubtful.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

He had written online Monday: “Our job as parents is to guard the hearts and minds of our kids. This culture has become alarmingly dark and desensitized and this is not a game. Disney and FX have decided to embrace and market what is clearly evil. STAY FAR FROM IT.”

Imagine being a publicly serving politician of the Greatest Democracy on Earth and your chosen mission is protecting your constituents from a fictional evil being.

I heard Darth Vader is threatening the livelihoods of the people of Louisiana too.

If Republicans are upset, they must have done something right.

no, many want a Christian Taliban rule in the US, you can see the changes already.

when religion dictates a countries rule, you end up with countries like Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Iran

14 ( +17 / -3 )

Now I really need to see this! It sounds hilarious, and even more so because some Republican is mad about it.

6 ( +12 / -6 )

He is playing to his own audience just like the tv station!

these politicians don’t give a damn about their voters! It’s just about getting re-elected so they can keep up the scams!

5 ( +8 / -3 )

What a dumb idea for a sitcom. I will never watch it.

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

Banning abortion and now this. The Republicans are turning into the Taliban. Hopefully this sort of thing should get ordinary Americans off their lazy backsides to vote against them.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Better the devil you know.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

This kind of small minded grandstanding always backfires.

Back in the 80’s The PMRC inadvertently paved the way for a much freer and less restrictive media. Parental Advisory stickers became a badge of honor, the ‘filthy fifteen’ got richer and sold more records.

If you want religion, go for it. If you want to use your religion to tell others what to do, you really haven’t been paying attention.

This reeks of the Satanic Panic in the 80s. I think that belief in magic and magical thinking should be automatic disqualifiers for people who what jobs where they get to make decisions for other people.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Just another far-right pol manipulating the MAGA-masses with nonexistent faux issues to divide us further and stoke the rage...

Have to keep them hyped up so they storm the Capitol and State Houses when they lose again in Nov...

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Congressman, you’re too late … and … Danny DeVito is still alive?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Another cross-eyed crackpot dribbling about beelzebub.

Give everyone a chance to find work which suits them, but don’t elect them to public office.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

But Satan IS evil, so...

“Some noted that “Little Demon” was made for and marketed to adults. Children should be in bed by 10 p.m.”

There's your answer and solution. Case closed, like Johnson's mind. The band Extreme said it best in 1990 by saying 'If you don't like what you're seeing, Get the Funk Out. We won't try to force feed you. Get the Funk Out.' Freedom of choice, folks.

An obvious point which makes Mr johnson’s complaints rather foolish. Especially when he appears to be such a proponent of ‘free speech’.

And watch the viewership go up now!

Yes. It's 2022, not the 1600s. Let this dummy go off into a corner. He can kvetch and moan all he wants to, and America will go on. Planet Earth will keep on spinning on its axis without this chump.

But Satan IS evil, so...

And Johnson serves him by his Trumpism and by being a boorish pushover and running his hateful ignorant Big Mouth.

just goes to show you how a simple Facebook post by a Republican can be a clickbait windfall.

When you have a party that is full of closeted homophobic gay men and anti-abortion men who demand their mistresses to get rid of their babies, I really don't take any of these hypocrites seriously.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Hmmm...I've never heard of this show, but now that I have, maybe I'll check it out (not really, I rarely watch TV these days :)). But ultimately, Mr. Johnson needs to remember that, if he indeed values Free Speech, he needs to remember also that others he may not like have that same 1st Amendment right. And don't go hiding behind your Trumpified version of "Christianity" (more like Trumpianity) with your blatherings. As a Christian and human, I also have the right to be silent on things I clearly know nothing about.

Imagine exposing your children to a comedy about a fictional character. The horror.

Evil is Republicans following their evil leader

I remember as a kid where George Burns starred as God (and the Devil in the third movie) in the 'Oh, God!' movie trilogy. There was such a shrieking howl from the fundies who never even saw those flicks. I have and even tho they are comedy films, they DO NOT mock the real God in any way, sort or manner. They're just good entertainment, that's all.

I have seen a few TV movies where Jesus' mother Mary is a nagging shrew and Joseph is a henpecked dufus. Those films don't have any merit or qualities to speak of, and they die a quiet death. They're trash.

I remember vividly the rancid stink about the 'Last Temptation of Christ' and the fanatics truly made such a STINK about that one. They never saw it yet they made up stuff about that actually wasn't there. That same year 1988 was supposed to be the year of the (C)Rapture, which didn't happen of course. There were two instrumental soundtracks for the movie, and they both sold well anyway. One of them was by Peter Gabriel. 'Passion' which hit the top 10 and yet won a Grammy in the New Age category, which it DOESN'T fall under. go figure.

And remember when Jerry Falwell ran his sassy mouth about those 'gay' Teletubbies in 1996? Stupid is as stupid does.

How do so many of these crackpots get voted in in the United States? Does any other country have so many openly weird politicians pandering to oddballs like this?

These politicians are a symptom of the disease that is the electorate.

And even now after over 50 years there's this ignorant critical crap about the rock musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. I've heard rumors about this that and again, not true, I saw a VERY cheap reenactment on PBS (where Judas is a skinhead wearing a leather jacket, 20th century) and the original. There was nothing offensive or blasphemous about either version, but the original movie 'electric rock' version is the topper of course. In fact, it's not much different than the Passion Play that is staged in Oeberhau, Germany every 10 years.

Some people just keep flapping their motormouths like Pac-Men. Always looking for something to wail about. Wah.
