Complimenting a women in the workplace, let alone socializing with her, is career suicide in this day and age.

Do not step on that minefield.

And then back in the real world, it’s actually entirely fine if you aren’t creepy about it. The key is that if you don’t know whether or not it’s creepy, you probably should assume it is.

Don't know why you took several hits, @Burning Bush. you're right.

Well, Matthews was definitely going to be fired, he know that and when you’ve done this business long enough as I have, you know when you make comments like that in this social political climate, it’s a deaf sentence and maybe Matthews didn’t mean it for his comments to come off as abrasive or sexually harassing in tone, it all boils down to the person who the comments were directed at and how they perceived them, not to mention the network doesn’t want to go through any sexual or racial lawsuits, they’re already struggling in the ratings being a constant third place and to have this around their necks, with further devastate the network, so I think he was given the option to step down immediately with dignity or fight it and be ultimately fired and Matthews chose to step down. msnbc has a notorious history for firing people and they’re trying very hard to change the culture within the network to minimize firings. Didn’t agree mostly with his view of politics, did respect him, but Matthews was definitely old-school Democrat.

Gotta give it to Matthews over the way he stuck it to hIs employer by walking off the set 2 minutes into the show and leaving MSLSD to scramble to fill the rest of the hour.

SL please read BBs comment at 0922 to see how it now ""works"" in the real world, getting sadder by the day sadly

What a creep. The comments were completely inappropriate.

If you’re going to go out, then at least do it your way. I would have done the same.

I think on the scale of things that likening Bernie Sanders winning a primary to the Nazi invasion of France is far worse than an inappropriate comment on someone’s appearance.

I'm inclined to agree... but then again maybe not. Women make up half of humanity, and fostering an environment where it's ok to make inappropriate comments on someone's appearance is pretty harmful. I think it's safe to say that neither is good.

Unfortunately, he had to play hardball on himself. I respect the statement he made.

Amen to that.

Also, if you don't understand the difference between socialize and sexualize you should probably not try to socialize at work.

What a mess. While his comments were inappropriate I don't think they warranted immediate firing. He could have just been cautioned. PC culture is way out of hand.

I will say though that he reaped what he sowed, as he has been one of those at the forefront of fake news, lying, slanderous, PC infested news media.

Society needs a radical infusion of love and respect.

The stale, old MSM hack 'n' shill should have been terminated years ago. TV news pundits and suits are so last century. Time to upgrade the intellectual level of the channels of information into a true public service and educate the electorate so that they won't vote orange, and black chickens won't elect white foxes to see to their welfare. Just dreamin'.

Bob and Joe did the exact same thing but the law treated Joe differently.

That's not fair.

Thats life.

The comparison made by Matthews isn’t really attacking Bernie as a Nazi. Likened to German tanks parading down the Champs Elysees means that Sanders’s campaign is or was in the position to win. Of course this was prior to Biden, the Comeback Kid. It’s as if the cherries are three quarters full bloom, nana wari mankai sort of speak.

Sexual harassment and attacking a candidate with such an emotive, ignorant remark. With all that experience, he really should have known better.

What?

Harassment is defined as “unwelcome” comments.

So let's assume there are two guys in the office, Bob and Joe.

Lisa likes Bob but she doesn't like Joe.

Bob makes a pass at Lisa and she accepts it (the comment was wanted)

Joe sees that Bob's comment was accepted and thinks to himself, I'll say the exact same thing and Lisa will go on a date with me too.

Joe makes a pass at Lisa using the exact same technique as Bob, but now it's “unwanted”, therefore it's harassment. Lisa feels that Joe is “creepy” and reports him to HR.

Bob gets a date and keeps his job.

Joe doesn't get a date and is fired and tainted for life as a sexual predator.

Bob and Joe did the exact same thing but the law treated Joe differently.

That's not fair.

Alternately, both Bob and Joe can keep their comments in a work environment professional, that way neither lose their jobs or are branded sexual predators. That seems more "fair" to me.

Typo, I meant “death” sentence which it is. Nowadays, anyone can get fired for anything that anyone takes personal offense to, it’s absolutely crazy.

This sums it the best as to how we as a society have lost our collective minds due to the PC police as Bill Maher puts it.

Bass4,would like a man make a compliment too your woman, knowing he want to hop in the bed with her

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Most men's are generally insecure of another man, approaching his woman, with any affection, even if it not sexually

Society has lost its marbles. Soon we will all be drones with no private parts or emotions.

No man is entitled to impose himself on woman, especially being a creep

He was a giant of political journalism no doubt but MSNBC also turned a blind eye to his sexist, misogynistic, and offensive behavior for years. And Chris Matthews has a well documented decades long history of grossly inappropriate comments and behavior, both on-air and off.
