Woody Allen the pedophile. Likewise Roman Polanski.

Woody Allen, a filmmaker, was in a long-term relationship with actress Mia Farrow. During their relationship, they adopted two children together, Dylan Farrow and Moses Farrow, and had one biological child, Ronan Farrow.

In 1992, Allen's relationship with Mia Farrow came to an end amid allegations that he had an inappropriate relationship with one of Mia Farrow's adopted daughters, Soon-Yi Previn.

At the time, Previn was an adult, but the situation was widely criticized due to the power dynamics involved and the fact that Previn had grown up as part of the Farrow-Allen family.

He still has a great influence and power. The truth will one be revealed after he as passed away. Same as with Johnny and Jimmy Savile.

I agree w/ the head of Cannes.

the controversy around Allen...was particularly baffling to him.

It is baffling until you realize that that the metoo movement isn't much about justice but more about purging elements deemed unsavory amid a culture war. Stalin would be impressed.

Woody Allen is fine. A bunch of gossip about him is no reason to NOT show his films. Don't forget that Mia Farrow has been accused of horrible abuse against all of her Asian kids. Looks like a bit of a double standard here.

The head of the Venice Film Festival, which starts Wednesday, told AFP it was "absolutely incomprehensible" why U.S. opinion had turned so strongly against director Woody Allen.

I dunno. Could have something to do with the fact that Mia found naked pics if her adopted daughter (she was 19 at the time) at his house and found out he’d been nailing them both?

Just spit-balling here.

Woody Allen is fine.

Maybe for you. There is a reason why you haven't seen the guys for years in Hollywood and when you marry the child you raised as your daughter and have sexual relations with her behind your wife's back just is beyond the decency and moral values of most Americans, people are free to listen and watch what they want, but Hollywood is right to keep the guy at a far distance.

A bunch of gossip about him is no reason to NOT show his films.

Not gossip, you can read the court records online.

Don't forget that Mia Farrow has been accused of horrible abuse against all of her Asian kids.

Most of the charges were dismissed which is why she was able to still keep her kids

Looks like a bit of a double standard here.

She wasn't ostracized from Hollywood, he was.

Woody Allen did not raise Soon-yi as his daughter. She was the adult adopted daughter of Mia Farrow and Andre Previn. Allen had no responsibility for her and very little contact as he did not live with Farrow. Soon-yi turned to him as a refuge from the abuse, psychological and physical, of Mia Farrow and they've been married for 26 years with two children together. Soon-yi is the one who's been silenced here as her account doesn't match the desired narrative of Allen's accusers.

Reading the court records of Allen's trial is certainly instructive. There were no charges brought against him and for good reason. The attempts to railroad Allen were so egregious that even the courts decided there was no way the case could continue.

It's absurd to compare Allen with people like Jimmy Saville or Roman Polanski, both serial offenders about whom there were rumours and complaints for years about their behaviour. Try to find another actress or children who make claims about Woody Allen - you won't find any at all.

"He has been completely absolved. Twenty-five years have passed and, for me, the hostility toward him, especially in the United States, is absolutely incomprehensible," Barbera told AFP on Tuesday.

Correct.

I'm not surprised that a "boss" in the film industry would be baffled as to why there would be so much negative feeling toward a fellow film-industry professional with a history of sexual improprieties, up to and including molestation of minors.

Yup, it's no surprise that objections to such horrid behavior wouldn't even raise a blip on a film-industry bigwig's screen.

Talk about out of touch.

"We must make a distinction between the man (Polanski) and the artist," Barbera said.

Wow.

I wonder if this would ever be said about a child rapist who was also a highly skilled plumber or carpenter.

Of course not. And rightly so.

Sorry, forgot. I guess "artists" get special treatment.

We must make a distinction between the serial child rapist who drugs his victims and flees justice, and the “artist”.

Shameless apologist and hypocrite.

I wonder if this would ever be said about a child rapist who was also a highly skilled plumber or carpenter.

Child rapist? Huh? Woody Allen has never been charged or even accused of child rape. His relationship with Soon-yi could be seen as "icky" and unethical- sure - but there is zero evidence Allen is a child rapist.

Allen is an absolute genius of a film director - possibly the GOAT.

Baffled, why? Woody is a pervert!

@bass4funk

It doesn’t surprise me that people get many details about Woody Allen wrong since the media is so one-sided. I believe their son, Moses, when he says he was abused by Farrow. Believe boys! Believe the kids who are adopted into Western countries/cultures. Or, just withhold belief when we don’t or can’t have access to all the facts. Moses ‘s view does count for something and he said “of course Woody Allen didn’t molest her.” Now Polanski, whom Mia Farrow has supported and spoken up for, is a different matter. He HAS been convicted of something.

Probably because he's a perv too.
