Like the new Alien flick; I shall be seeing this on release. And like the aforementioned; I shall probably come out of it feeling vaguely disappointed.
Blade Runner cannot be equalled; it's superior sci-fi (noir) and arresting entertainment with one of the great scores of the last 40 years in that genre. The thought of a remake made me cringe, even back when a "sequel" was published over 20 years ago.
That said; Villeneuve is an exciting director - Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival - and he looks like he's injected a sense of awe and beauty into the film (from what the trailer shows us). As for the soundtrack; Johann Johannsson is a worthy successor to Vangelis - it will be interesting to see if it makes as big an impact as the original.
Let's wait and see.

Cannot wait. Love this director's work and if Scott had to pass the job to anyone. IMDB says 10/27 in Japan. One film I'm willing to pay theatre prices for.

Looks a tad overblown, and certainly seems to lack the subtlety of the original. I'm surprised at Villeneuve because 'Arrival' was very subtle.
That wouldn't be so bad if it were standing apart from the original, but with Harrison Ford in it...
A reboot sequel? Getting a little tired of them. I'll watch it, but with a sense of 'Best left alone in the first place'.

Look forward to seeing this....on cable.

Blade Runner had a melancholic, sad touch to it. The plot, Vangelis, that 80s thing that were so nostalgia. I doubt they can replicate (pun intended) that atmosphere ever again...

I agree original will be better.
Actual Models, little CGI, Vangelis music( new one retains but different artist), actors, fitted the mood of the time.
Original suffers from too many edits/cuts).
Always prefered the one with the noir voice over, much like The Maltese Falcon.
Fear the new one won't be noir, extra cgi, action scenes, etc to compete with Marvel. etc movies.
Will skip like I did Robocop, etc.

The remake of Robocop wasn't as bad as I thought it might be but it doesn't stay in the mind like Verhoeven's original.
