I'm not a fan of Cannes film festival, I prefer Venice and Sundance. Brillante Mendoza made this movie called Kinatay, at first I was excited to see it and became so disappointed after I watched it. Cinematography, sound/audio and story are so bad and yet Cannes Film Festival gave him an award for best Director. Even the great and well respected film critic late Roger Ebert reviewed Kinatay very bad . I don't really know what basis does Cannes follow on making decisions on giving awards where even film school students' projects are way better than Brillante Mendoza's Kinatay. After that I lost interest with this film festival and stopped following it.

PC over reaction.
Weinstein's presence would have loomed even larger!
