If she wasn’t with JL, she’d be a Neville Nobody

Like Celine Dion, Yoko will just not go away.

What do you give Yoko Ono on her birthday?

A one-way ticket to anywhere far, far away. I can't stand the woman nor the total tripe she emits.

She should get a medal for her part in helping to break up one of the most overrated and over-hyped 'groups' in history. Thank you for your service, Yoko.

This dude literally hates joy.

Yoko who?

-2 ( +8 / -10 )

“Yoko is, in my opinion, one of the most brilliant artists of the 20th century, hands down across all media.”

And then he went back to their padded room for his mid day cocktail of meds.

I was going to suggest buying her some talent, but she seems to have managed without it thus far - or perhaps I’m being a bit harsh.

Give her singing and music less... She needs them more than anyone.

This is the same woman that sat in Julia and John's kitchen laughing at Julia and Julien telling them how she was taking John (oh and stoned at the time).

This is the same woman the forbid John from having any communication with Julien, (it was Paul that took Julien on vacation and Christmas, etc .)

This is the same woman that told Julien that he had to stop making music if he wanted his inheritance money that she controlled because only her son was the heir to John's musical legacy.

The same woman that build a John Lennon museum leaving out all mention of Julia, Julien and the fact John was married before

Then her music, if you want to make someone take a pencil and stick it in their ears to end the suffering, then her music is great for that.

One of the most influential underground/avant-garde artists of the last 50 years.

But then, music is not for everyone.

Jeez, I never thought I'd give you an upvote. Hell has frozen over.

Strange that people are down playing Yoko, who did most of the lyrics on Imagine! Probably the most important song of our time.

Yeah, it is pretty rude, tbh.

You can keep it, if you'd like.

I would give her credit for co writing one of the best songs of all time, Shortly before his death, Lennon said that much of the song's lyrics and content came from his wife, Yoko Ono

Sorry I missed to say the song Imagine.

Well, for starters...look at the hat...cat in the hat ?

I think I'd rather hear Styrofoam being rubbed together than anything she has done. Her voice : painful to the ears.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

How about some singing lessons?

You mean most hypocritical song of its time?!

I mean image all the people, crashing others marriages, not seeing their son, imagine all the that give nothing to charity but their old clothing, what a great place it would be.

The one that cared for Lennon's son was Paul, the one that did the most charitable work was George.

Every time I hear that song I want to slap some sense into and tell the person playing it that the 2 that made that song were 2 of the most self centered people to ever live.

What did cats ever do to you to be compared to that?

Poor cats.

That is beside the point. The art Lennon made (with Yoko by his side in some cases) is what is important.

Seriously, your view is to ignore the hypocrisy, the lies, the treatment of Julien and just pretend this projectile vo... actually means something more than millions of more dollars in the Bank!?

If anything I would give them both a life time award for pulling the wool over more people's eyes than anyone else.

Yoko Ono = the luckiest groupie in the history of rock'n'roll.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

repaired her relationship with Julian to the extent that even he doesn’t carry on labout it the way you do.

Repaired? He doesn't say anything, so you think they have reconciled?

You do know she still retains control over his inheritance, right?

If I were him I to would keep my mouth shut,

Give her an imaginary hammer and an imaginary nail.

Her and John made activism dazzling and fun, I mean living in a department store window, photographed nude for one of the album sleeve, they inspired a whole generation

So they were great self promoters that really did nothing much, as opposed to George how did more in one year than they would in a lifetime.

Aw, give er a break @Reckless. That was perhaps one bad photo, … 6 years ago:

“Yoko Ono appears at the NME 2016 music awards in London on Feb 17, 2016. Photo: Invision/AP/file”

@Reckless 11:28pm: “Very hard on the eyes. Please celebrate your birthday in private with your family.” -

the luckiest groupie in the history of rock'n'roll.

I don't think most groupies go to Gakushuin school and university. I would guess more money than luck.

Ben Gibbard wasn't necessarily looking for music by Yoko Ono when he went record shopping a few decades ago.

And I wasn't looking for Chieftains music when I went to a record shop in Hashimoto-shi a few decades ago. I think I got the better deal.

But all that said, I've never met Yoko Ono, and John Lennon has. I have to assume she's a cool lady. She's welcome round here for tea any time.

God bless her. My warmest regards to Yoko.

Over-rated.

“Yoko is, in my opinion, one of the most brilliant artists of the 20th century, hands down across all media.”

Not sure that I'm quite buying that, although there's no question in my mind that Yoko's much more worthwhile than she's generally given credit for. I liked "Don't Worry Kyoko (Mummy's Only Looking For A Hand in the Snow" which was the "B" side of the Plastic Ono Band single "Cold Turkey" at least in Australia. I have to admit, though, you could clear a room with it.

Yoko has never been as challenging to listen to as say, Diamanda Galas, and yet Galas has never attracted quite the same controversy as poor old Yoko. I once induced an emotional breakdown in a woman when I put on one of Galas's albums, so the link below should only be listened to by the open-minded or the emotionally robust.

All three of the other Beatles have said that Yoko (and to a degree Linda) have had to take a lot of crap and blame for the Beatles breakup.

If she wasn’t with JL, she’d be a Neville Nobody

She already was a respected performance artist living in Greenwich Village before she met John. She was doing fine on her own and has during the 41 years since he was murdered. As for her 'singing' career, her contributions on John's 'Double Fantasy' are listenable but that 1981 hit single 'Skating On Thin Ice' is horrible. Yet, her 1985 'Starpeace' album isn't bad. It's electro-dance music and she keeps her vocal extremes in check. And she has influenced several bands such as Sonic Youth. However the 'Goodbye 20th Century' album SY did (with Yoko's input) SUCKS.

Like Celine Dion, Yoko will just not go away.

Yoko has her peculiarities but she does have some talent, even if it's a bit loopy at times or a little off tangent but she has it in her own special way. Celine Dion, OTOH churns out wretchedly pompous soulless 'adult contemporary' puke for all the yuppies. She is totally awful to the max. Radio pollution.
