Some films are simply what they are. I was first exposed to X-rated films when I was in the Navy and they have no plots or storylines, just gross nauseating sex acts (real ones, and yes they show the body parts). However there are a few like the (in)famous 'Caligula' from 1979 which is an account of the arrogant disgusting sexuaaly deviant pornographic Roman Emperor (a predecessor to Trump, actually). The rapes Caligula did were simulated by the actor Malcolm McDowell. There were plenty of actual nauseating porn scenes, but they were performed by Penthouse Pets and not by the main actors themselves. It's a documentary of one of history's most licenscious rulers but the sick porn scenes did emphasize what a horrible person Caligula was. There was no rating upon its release.

Thinds have changed considerably since then, esp. after 1990.

Based on Joyce Carol Oates’s 2000 book and starring Ana de Armas, the film reportedly includes a graphic rape scene and a vaginal point-of-view shot in its treatment of the Hollywood icon’s life and career.

Ana de Armas is willing to bare it all, if you've seen her movies, lol

Nudity itself doesn't merit an NC-17 rating. Then again, Hollyweird doesn't truly follow the rating system they use for films (PG-13 or R?) and there's too much blurring. It's too nebulous at times.

Netflix’s 2020 film “Cuties,” which caused a PR crisis over the perceived hypersexualization of young girls…

The hypersexualization of those girls was not “perceived,” but rather was self-evident.

For this and “Blonde” and other content, Netflix is more infamously known as “PORNetflix”.

quote: a vaginal point-of-view shot.

Is that an act of woke liberation or phallocratic exploitation? I can see accusations of fat shaming blowing up on social media if critics complain about thighs restricting the shot.

Not really my thing. I prefer NCC-1701 movies.
