> Nonsense. Prove illegals vote in droves, you can't.

You can’t prove they don’t.

If you are the one claiming that a fraud took place, it is incumbent on you to make that case and provide evidence of the fraud. Otherwise the courts would be full of cases with people accusing others of fraud with the prosecution claiming, "prove you did not commit fraud". As Hitchens famously wrote, "that which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence"...

Republicans have always been the anti-slavery party.

FOX talking heads have joined the chat

I cannot in good conscience provide economic support to a government that imprisons thousands of migrant children.

I agree stop separating them from their parents will be a good start.

@Pukey2

Jim Crow laws were introduced by Southern Democrats. Democrats were the party of slavery. Republicans have always been the anti-slavery party.

Smith & Fuqua have ‘clout’ to choose when, what & where they work @theFu 10:56am but the ‘up & comers’ will continue to ‘play to get paid’ and keep the work they get.

*- “Big Willie is correct. Hope more movie and TV raise a stink.” -*

APR 03, ‘21 - Donald Glover resumed filming the long-awaited “Atlanta”, seasons 3 AND 4.

Again, don’t changes come from working in unison, not ‘self interest’?

- Will HE stop production on BOTH Seasons 3 and 4 that are currently underway to oppose the changes in voter laws in Georgia?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Jim Crow laws are still very alive.

Democracy????!!!!!

Continuing from @11:42am -

Here’s a prominent BIPOC in film we wouldn’t expect to ‘choose the money’ over ‘solidarity’ with other BIPOC in entertainment

“Auditions and filming just ‘wrapped’ APR 10th in Decatur and Atlanta for Ava DuVernay’s (“Selma”) new CW series pilot “NAOMI”.  DuVernay is frequently outspoken yet didn’t speak out, this time, about:

- “The new Georgia voting laws reminiscent of voting impediments passed at the end of Reconstruction to prevent many Americans from voting," wrote Smith and Fuqua.” -

Doesn’t BIPOC activism for change come from ‘working in unison, NOT ‘self interest’.

Can you show us proof that illegal immigrants voted massively in the last election then?

Can you show us proof that most African Americans don't have ID?

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Pretty hard to get around as a responsible, independant adult without ID. Voting or otherwise.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

As a Georgian, let me shed some light with my experiences. Until around 2000, Georgia was a conservative Democrat state. We had Democrat governors from Reconstruction to 2004, and some darn good ones (John Slayton, Jimmy Carter, Zell Miller of HOPE Scholarship fame) and Democrat Senators (Sam Nunn, Richard Russle), the state legislature was majority Dem, and there were a few Republican US Reps (Newt Gingrich, Bob Barr). The state went for Clinton twice. On the whole, things were peachy. Then in 1999 Gov Barnes did the worst thing imaginable - he got rid of the Confederate stars-and-bars from the state flag. After that, Georgia went red as a monkey's butt. (Tells you a lot about the good ole conservative Christians in Georgia). This current shift back to a blue state is basically a return to the previous status quo that the Repubs who took control of the state after 2000 do not want to go back to.

This is what happened to me and voting. Georgia used to be an "open primary" state - you did not have to register as a Repub or Dem. That all changed when Georgia went Red, the rules were changed and people had to register. I registered as a Dem. I had no problem voting absentee until the Bush-Gore election - after the Repubs took control of Georgia. My ballot for that election was rejected for being "late." I sent it in September. Every single absentee ballot I have cast since then has been rejected for one reason or another. This never happened until 1) Georgia went red and 2) I registered as a Dem. This doesn't even include the times, like this last election, when I did not even receive my absentee ballot, or received it after the election. I have basically been shut out of the past 5 presidential elections and a few midterms. So, yes, Georgia has election integrity problems - problems caused by Republicans (my registered county is a Red one). Stacey Abrams, bless her, found a way to LEGALLY make full use of the voting rules to Dem's advantage and now the Repubs want to change the rule.

One example, automatic registration. In Georgia, you were automatically asked if you wanted to register to vote when you got or renewed your driver's license. Repubs loved this because it fed their argument for voter ID requirements not being a burden. Abrams reminded folks of this and thousands used this method to register. Now, the Repubs want to get rid of automatic registration. Why? Not because of fraud, but because that is how most minorities and young folks register. I was first registered to vote in high school by my social studies teacher. Now, the Repubs want to get rid of that. When people wanted election day to be a holiday, the Repubs said "Why? You can vote by mail or dropbox any time a month before election day." Many people did that this time, they lost, so now they want to change it. They want to keep people who will not vote for them from voting. I'm almost ashamed to be a Georgian.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

Have to agree, [in part] @Reckless 11:20am. Like them both, Antoine Fuqua and (younger)* Will Smith.

*- “In my opinion it is one of the best cities in the US for African-Americans [*film-makers]** to thrive. I think they are shooting themselves in the foot by this boycott.” - *

Reasons to follow: -

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

It is just the normal ebb and flow of US politics. One party makes rules for its advantage and the other party makes rules for its advantage. Nothing new.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

All of this fuss over a voter ID. You would have thought that Georgia was the first and only state to require a voter ID while the other 49 states did not require a voter ID.

Advice to all of the protagonists, boycott all states which require a voter ID.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

There weren't any ballot drop boxes until the pandemic. They were added as a emergency measure. I like them and find then convenient where they were. The new law puts them inside county buildings were people go to vote early. Some where in those locations last year. It is impossible to run in and out quickly at those places.

Big Willie is still correct. Hope more movie and TV raise a stink.

Coke, UPS, Delta, First Data, T-Sys, Aflac, HomeDepot, Cox, Equifax, Hooters, Arby's, Chick-fil-A and a few car plants (Porsche) should all publicly start looking to relocate their HQs from Georgia, until the 500 idiots who pushed this junk law through fix it.

Make it look like the tax base is leaving.

Business friendly means people friendly too.

The proof is in the complete lack of evidence that undocumented immigrants voted in droves in the 2020 election. Had there been any evidence, Trump and the GOP would have been splashing around in court. They didn’t because there is no evidence.

Ok, you can think that and you’re entitled to your opinion, but you’re not entitled to your own facts and the fact is, Kemp changed the rules and the left and Will Smith and all the other libs can complain if they want, the Bill will make it in may ways easier to vote, but impossible to cheat and that’s the fundamental element in this new Bill that doesn’t allow or gives the Dems flexibility to do anything nefarious.

False duality and completely inaccurate.

I disagree. Dems lost of this, pro labs Texas and Florida will probably do the same and one can only hope. You need ID for virtually everything and voting should never be an exception. Delaware is a good example. It’s a one party state and they don’t have these laws in place and why not? It’s a one party state and it ALWAYS votes reliable Blue, if it were a Red or Swing state, they would be bombarded by the left to change voter ID laws, but with Delaware, keep walking....

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Yes, so please go back and check if don’t think so.

I don't need to check anything because I know for 100% sure you did not post any proof of anything at all, much less prescient proof that illegals voted last year, "many times over the years". You did nothing of the sort because the proof doesn't exist, because the fact itself is not real and is only a demented idea from Fox News and right-wing pundits to scare you into voting republican and keep you watching their channel for their very dear advertising revenue.

The courts can say what they want, doesn’t mean they’re right, remember, these are humans first and foremost.

So what you're saying now is that all the judges in the country are democrats and hate Trump. Yeaaaah that's completely reasonable too.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

I don't get this. Virginia just voted for Biden and voted in 2 Democrat senators. And now they are miffed that this bill requires some form of voter id. Like you need to buy booze. Or get on a plane. or so many other things in daily life. Seems to me if getting id is so hard they should focus on helping those that they think are unable to do so themselves rather than railing against what seem to be pretty sensible precautions against false id etc.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

You did?!?

Yes.

you showed us proof that illegal immigrants voted in the last election "many times over the years"??

Yes

I must have missed that.

Yes, so please go back and check if don’t think so.

And the whole GOP must have missed it too, because all their claims of cheating and illegals voting in the last election have been dismissed by the US courts over 60 times.

So if the “jury” finds officer Chauvin not guilty, does that mean, he’s not guilty of murder?

The courts can say what they want, doesn’t mean they’re right, remember, these are humans first and foremost.

Yes, a lot of people in large cities either walk, bike, carpool, or take public transportation to work; it's not hard to believe ~20% of blacks/minorities don't have licenses.

I’m from LA and the majority of blacks in Inglewood, Oakland, Compton, Santa Ana, Fremont do not use public transportation overwhelmingly, what are you talking about? If they didn’t have ID, the arrest rate of blacks would be off the charts!

Nonsense. Prove illegals vote in droves, you can't.

You can’t prove they don’t. And if they didn’t Democrats wouldn’t object so vehemently against voter ID. Now they’re angry because in Georgia, they can’t do anything to change this ruling and that makes them nervous. Well, too bad.

Joe Greenberg, and possibly, Matt Gaetz, are accused of using fake and expired IDs to traffic underage prostitutes. You can fake a driver's license

Possibly, so basically we don’t know anything, let the facts play out, everyone is awarded due process and is innocent until proven guilty.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

I did so many times over the years

You did?!? you showed us proof that illegal immigrants voted in the last election "many times over the years"?? I must have missed that. And the whole GOP must have missed it too, because all their claims of cheating and illegals voting in the last election have been dismissed by the US courts over 60 times. Maybe you should contact Rudy Giuliani with your "proof", it might help him.

Here, I have some proof illegals voting is nonsense:

https://www.cato.org/blog/noncitizens-dont-illegally-vote-detectable-numbers

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

So then they’re driving illegally which in itself is a crime, how do they get around? They all have bikes? They all take the bus? In every major metropolitan city?

Yes, a lot of people in large cities either walk, bike, carpool, or take public transportation to work; it's not hard to believe ~20% of blacks/minorities don't have licenses.

If they didn’t, Democrats wouldn’t be opposed to IDs.

Nonsense. Prove illegals vote in droves, you can't.

The reason they're opposed to it, is because they no voter ID laws will depress minority turnout, which skews towards Democrats. https://www.aclu.org/other/oppose-voter-id-legislation-fact-sheet

Whst?

Joe Greenberg, and possibly, Matt Gaetz, are accused of using fake and expired IDs to traffic underage prostitutes. You can fake a driver's license.

This is a good chance for other Southern states to draw investments away from Georgia. I hate the fact that states are pitted against each other as this is the reason for low wages and 0% taxed corporations, but it is a useful tool against voter suppression.

Given time Mississippi and Alabama could develop the infrastructure needed to allow for larger sporting events and really help those economies.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

If they didn’t, Democrats wouldn’t be opposed to IDs.

Can you show us proof that illegal immigrants voted massively in the last election then?

-1 ( +7 / -8 )

Lol calling something a myth doesn't make it so. Fact: Blacks and minorities are less likely to have drivers licenses.

So then they’re driving illegally which in itself is a crime, how do they get around? They all have bikes? They all take the bus? In every major metropolitan city?

Riiiiggghhhtttt because we all know illegal immigrants vote in droves.

If they didn’t, Democrats wouldn’t be opposed to IDs.

We also know there is no way to make fake IDs, right Matt Gaetz and Joe Greenberg?:D

Whst?

2 ( +11 / -9 )

but also mechanisms put in place in the Bill to make it harder to cheat.

Can you show us proof of all the cheating that took place that makes this bill necessary then?

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

The myth that it's harder for blacks/minorities to get an ID is just that. Even a poor black person can catch a bus to the DMV and get an ID.

Lol calling something a myth doesn't make it so. Fact: Blacks and minorities are less likely to have drivers licenses. slate.com/news-and-politics/2012/08/voter-id-laws-why-do-minorities-lack-id-to-show-at-the-polls.amp

If anything it targets illegal immigrants who shouldn't be voting in the first place.

Riiiiggghhhtttt because we all know illegal immigrants vote in droves.

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

Why is anyone even surprised about this? Should have been expected. These people and the left media are so dishonest about this Bill. There are some things in it that make it easier now to vote, but also mechanisms put in place in the Bill to make it harder to cheat.

Haven't heard the latest? She bought four and spent over 3mil.

@fxgai

Great post!

Blacks have ID! who knew?? Check out Ami Horowitz vid about black voter ID.

"...waiting in a queue so long as to demand water..."

Conveniently left out in story: "parts of the law mandate identifying polling locations with long lines and implementing changes to ensure lines are shorter than one hour."

Reasonable...

Also left out: nothing in the law prevents "volunteers", even Democrat "volunteers" from handing out water: so long as they are 150 feet away from the poling stations. Moreover, nothing saying you can't put up a table with free water bottles on it.

Reasonable. No?

5 ( +10 / -5 )

Are they going to follow MLB and move to Colorado, too, where voting laws are even more restrictive? And transferring $100's of millions of revenue from Blacks to Whites in the process?

Thanks Stacy Abrams! Looking out for #1 I see, just like your BLM friend who bought a multi-million dollar house in an exclusive, 99% White community.

Fakes and Frauds at their finest.

I am curious about how the changes in Georgia were apparently carefully calibrated so as to discriminate against certain voters.

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/03/26/politics/georgia-voting-law-black-voters/index.html This is a CNN article that explains the changes pretty well.

Voter challenges:

The law says any Georgian can challenge the voting eligibility of an unlimited number of voters.

Bans mobile units

Fulton County, where roughly 45% of the population is African American, bought RV-sized mobile voting units to encourage early voting and reduce long lines on Election Day.

The law now bans their use.

2 ( +9 / -7 )

I cannot in good conscience provide economic support to a government that imprisons thousands of migrant children.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

"... imposes voter identification requirements, limits the number of voting drop boxes and forbids volunteers from giving water bottles to voters "

ID? Doen't seem unreasonable.

Limit voting drop boxes? Drop boxes require ID?

Giving water bottles? Prevents illegal campaigning; free water is an emolument. Bottle of water today, free washing machines tomorrow (Chavez).

-1 ( +12 / -13 )

I am curious about how the changes in Georgia were apparently carefully calibrated so as to discriminate against certain voters.

For example, is it known to be the case that African Americans are less likely to have IDs? It doesn’t strike me as a rare thing to require an ID to do something such as vote.

The notion of waiting in a queue so long as to demand water be doled out is also foreign to me. Why don’t they have more voting places so that people needn’t go thirsty waiting in long lines? Are these long lines only evident in predominantly African American communities?

2 ( +12 / -10 )

Welcome to wokedom, Fresh Prince.

Smart Move, Georgia is NOT on my mind anymore, and I hope it changes course.

*Would Louisiana, Mississippi or Alabama be able to benefit from the film production revenue? Don’t know if they have the same issues but their economies definitely need a boost*. - Florida already has enough revenue from the influx of retirees, (hopefully)rebounding tourism, the potential resurgence of a (privatized) space program, etc. -

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

will no longer be filmed in Georgia after the southern U.S. state approved a voting rights law that critics say is intended to depress turnout in Black and other underrepresented communities.
