Had a bit of a heart attack when I saw his picture on the front page thinking the man finally bought the farm. Glad it wasn't the case. 90 and still touring? Willie Nelson's a freakin' legend.

Stay out of Singapore, Willie! Not worth it.

Like p_d_b above I immediately though the worst and was duly relived to see Willie was very much alive and well. A real legend with no imitation.

Living proof that pot does not kill.....;-)

Enjoyed reading this pretty detailed article about one of the few country singers I really like.

Mallard didn't mention, or he probably didn't really need to, Nelson's strong advocacy of pot.

He even popped up in a surfing video with him playing cards, weeding out and drinking while the surfers came in and joined him at the table.

Going strong at 90. Thank god.

As Speed mentioned - the article never once mentioned Willies advocacy for marijuana.

He often credits it with saving his life and getting him off his alcohol dependency - which fueled violence.

As much detail as there is, writing about WN and not talking about his prolific use of weed is like writing about Obama and "forgetting" to mention he's black. I read the original article and it also doesn't mention it.

Quick check on the writer Jason Mellard - seems to be a pretty astute guy running excellent modern US music history courses at Texas State - I'd like to take a couple of those.

So why? Could it be that under Texas Law cannabis is still an illegal substance unlike some other more open states.

And funnily enough - Texas just decriminalized minor possession as a misdemeanor from felony status just 3 days ago on April 26th.

Willie will be smiling.

Great Man.

‘Crazy’ is one of those songs so familiar you can overlook what an absolutely brilliant piece of songwriting it is.

A living legend worthy of respect no matter what your musical tastes are.

I can't believe that he already not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Not to diminish Chris Martin's legendary status, but Wille's rendition of 'the scientist' in the Chipotle advert is solid gold in everyway.

The writer also failed to mention Willie's famous guitar "Trigger" that features prominently in his music.

My favorite album of Willie's is the one he made with his dearly beloved late sister Bobbie, "Farther Along".

His Gospel songs are among his best, especially "Kneel At The Feet of Jesus".

My other favorite of his is "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain". Hauntingly beautiful melody.

I know not much about country music not being a fan, but one of his songs 'Funny how time slips away' is a masterpiece.

When I was little my dad was always playing Willie Nelson records and Ry Cooder, doesn’t time fly. Can’t believe the man is still touring these days.

An original Highwayman still going strong. I think Nelson and Kristofferson are the only two remaining members. Love that Highwayman song.

For those of you who missed the news another Willie, Wee Willie Harris died this week aged 90. Google will tell you all about him.

Weed never brings out an aggressive side in anyone. Willie actually toked on the WH roof during the Carter era.

I can't believe that he already not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

He is a candidate for that this year. Not to mention he has worked with some rockers like the Pretenders. And he made a reggae CD, complete with a hemp leaf on the cover art that some square stores like WalMart refused to stock. Willie Nelson along with John Mellencamp and Neil Young started up and founded the Farm Aid benefit shows which have been annually until the pandemic hit.

There are country stars like Hank Williams Sr. who are in the HOF as well as jazz artists (influence). There are other artists and bands who seriously need to be in there. It took forever to get RUSH, Roxy Music, Ramones, Kraftwerk in. It all has to do with the board which is why there are so many milquetoast 'adult contemporary' acts in the HOF. Even now with some of the acts I grew up with like Duran Duran and Cheap Trick getting in, there always has to be some lilywhite act slipped in to keep those yuppies happy.

But we know what matters!

John Lydon scorned and ridiculed the Rock n Roll HOF when it wanted to “induct” the Sex Pistols. That is what every “inductee” should do until the whole shabby, dishonest house of cards collapses.

Frank Zappa would have told the HOF where to go too.
