@lordoflys

I bet he doesn’t read JapanToday, either....

He is pretty talented but too over the top for me. Eternal Sunshine.....was a great movie and made me appreciate what he is capable of. Jim, please excuse me if I don't read your book. I've got other stuff I want to read.

Thank you!

The man was funny back in the 90s and he really could make you laugh with his show in Living Color and Ace Ventura, the Mask, but started getting less funnier with the Cable guy and then it went downhill from there. He’s just another loudmouth Hollywood political hack that can’t make good movies anymore so he jumps on the political bandwagon to generate clicks. But I get it, these people need to make money and sensationalism brings in big cash.

Cartoonishly absurd; that sums him up. He was funny at the beginning, but it turns out he's just completely insane, and not in a good way.

Interesting comments being made here, and I knew nothing about the death of Ms White, so I read up on it.

It appears that his ex-girlfriend died by suicide in 2015, after having married to a man called Mark Burton (possibly for document purposes?) in 2013.

The family sued Carrey a year later, accusing him of providing the prescription drugs which Ms White used to kill herself. They claimed that he tested positive for STDs, and had sex with her without telling her he was STD+. The claim appears to be connected to Ms White forging papers that said she was STD-, and possibly trying to blackmail Mr Carrey...

They said he supplied her with illegal drugs as well as prescription drugs despite knowing she had a history of depression and mental fragility...

And on it goes. You can find all this and more online, but basically, what commenters have lightly written above, is barely a fraction of the story.

As an adult looking back at Ace Ventura movies, you notice jokes that are even more hilarious now that you are older.

Apart from the racism in the sequel, that is. What were they thinking?

Fire Marshall Bill from In Living Colour was frightening.

@rcch

leave the man alone. i,ll admit he got a little crazier in the last few years but he,s one of the few truly talented ( and genuine ) people in Hollywood...

Agreed. One of the greatest comedic geniuses of my childhood. As an adult looking back at Ace Ventura movies, you notice jokes that are even more hilarious now that you are older.

I don't trust Jim Carrey.

Well, be sure to avoid going into business with him, or marrying him!

I used to like JC, but ever since the death of Cathriona White, I find it hard to be enthusiastic about the man.

The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind will always be classics, but as far as I'm concerned, he's not someone I can relate to, or be a fan of.

Jim usually brings a smile to my face. I just like the guy. His often outrageous public persona seems to belie a more thoughtful creative spirit.

I love his paintings of Trump:

Here's one not by Carrey, but does involve him:

@kobewhitebarowner..part of the reason his mrs died was because he supplied her with medication that he shouldn't have been.

I don't trust Jim Carrey.

”Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” “The Mask,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and “The Truman Show.”

what about dumb & dumber, me, myself, and Irene, and Man on the Moon?

Those middle two movies are horrid.

This will be an interesting read - no run-of-the-mill ghostwritten bio this, it will be worth the time.

Yeah, I’m not one for biographies or memoirs usually but this one I’m going to be keeping an eye out for.

He’s been through a rough patch. I wish him nothing but the best.

His Mrs killed herself and he blew a gasket. He now views the world very differently and despises the plasticness of hollyweird. When your life’s turned upside down you realize what’s valuable and what’s cheap, Jim’s just taken it to the extreme. Keep on keeping on Mr Carrey!
