RIP, Richie. Anybody remember how many hours straight that he played at Woodstock because the act that was to follow him was late or something?

R.I.P, Richie. You were the epitome of soul and passion.

If I had been alive and living in the mid-60s in Greenwich Village I would have taken in a Richie gig any day of the week over Dylan. What an amazing performer! He won't go down in history like the other 60s luminaries but he was about the only folk singer of the period who didn't need to switch to electric to make it feel electric. His open-D acoustic style was also an inspiration for many more famous acoustic players to come, whether they would admit it or not. Any given song that he covered of any artist WAS the definitive version in my mind after that like Here Comes the Sun or Morning Morning. RIP Richie.
