"...follows comments by some Hollywood celebrities distancing themselves from Allen during the #MeToo movement"

That's how Stalin's Russia operated. People would side with the madmen if they believed that doing so would save their skins. Allen's accuser has a personal grudge is highly unstable. The stable smart people who worked closely with him report nothing untoward, including the actresses, yet some side with the crazy accuser.

History shows us that when these "movements" hit a frenzy, intelligence and a sense of justice go out the window.

I belong to no mass movement. It has served me very well, thank you.

@JeffLee, Agreed.

No. That's always how America's film industry has acted.

Fatty Arbuckle's scandal/blacklisting almost 100 years ago and the McCarthy inspired Hollywood witch-hunts of the 1950s illustrates this fact.

Woody's reputation will recover. At least he didn't come out as a conservative - that would have ended his career.

I didn't need a group to follow to find that Allen had become a creepy has-been. His movies became increasingly crappy, gnangnan, and conventional after"Annie Hall" left him. Superb actress Mia Farrow lost her time doing 12 times the same character in his films for grannies. He has a right to exist -and he does- and a right to work -and he does. He is no longer likeable. No longer an interesting director.

whether Allen was ever really in the role of a father to Soon-Yi

Many people like you would have no problem seeing their Dad in couple with their sister. OK. I just wonder about the wedding. Where do you seat ? On the groom or the bride's side ? Their kid is your brother/sister or nephew/niece ?
