Cable TV company WOWOW will launch 3 new channels in October. The three new channels are WOWOWPrime, featuring “the best” in latest entertainment, WOWOWLive, which will air live sports and music events, and WOWOWCinema, a 24-hour movie channel. Viewers can subscribe to the new channels for 2,415 yen a month.
Soccer announcer and former Japan coach Takeshi Okada, 54, was present at the launch ceremony. Recently back from teaching soccer classes in tsunami-damaged Tohoku, he said, “When I was up there, I really felt the power of sports; its power to bring hope to people. I think WOWOW has that power too.”

I think I'll stick to downloading programmes. Then I can watch what I want, when I want.
cyan77: try tunein radio for free radio streams. I have a WD TV Live Hub attached to the TV and it can stream all those stations too. No need to listen to the presenter on your local station wittering on about what she had for breakfast any more.

Overpriced and not too much choice really. I wish iPlayer had international subscriptions -- they only let you listen to their radios if you are overseas.

I agree that many are sick and tired of these AC commercials, you know the ones that were aired 24/7 after the big earthquake, they have good intentions but please! not 24/7!!!

TV is awful. Way overpriced and horribly programed. Get a slingbox or download if you need your fix.

Ever more worthless gunk on ever more channels.

Just like after Obama was elected everyone is now using 3/11 to propagate whatever ends they have. I would have thought Okada would have been above that, by a long way, but I was wrong.

hachmike, its a racket they got going on here, and a very good one at that. cable and sat will always suck here for english viewers. just download. JTV is and always be a frustrating experience for foreigners

Ok sounds good, but I hope that from now on when they air sports, they will include the English commentary. Also, I wonder how long before they begin to charge for each channel instead of bunching them together like that.
