X-Japan musician Yoshiki promises his support for Cool Japan

X Japan musician Yoshiki has promised his support for Cool Japan campaigns by the government.

Yoshiki was invited to an LDP meeting Wednesday to consider the Cool Japan Strategy, Fuji TV reported. After the meeting, Yoshiki told reporters, “We need to connect the dots to make a line. It’s better to do it one after another quickly to get things done. I would be happy if I could suggest some ideas (for the Cool Japan Strategy).”

One reporter asked Yoshiki if he was interested in getting into politics. “I don’t think so, because I’m already quite preoccupied with my own band," he replied.

sorry but I think a lot of heat has gone from this Cool Japan thing... there are only so many fluffy toys and boy bands that people will accept...

ewww supporting "cool Japan" is the ultimate sell-out. That silly government initiative will strangle our culture before it helps it.....

Japan has some cool things about it, but Cool Japan is definitely not one of them.

COOL, spelled C.O.R.N.Y.

his support just about sums up Cool Japan. there is so much to like about Japan but we have this inane and clichéd campaign sponsored by the oyaji in charge.

Wasn't Cool Japan dead in the water already? Didn't Abe get the message that 'Cool Japan' does not and will not work? Nobody sees Japan as 'cool' okay? You can't make people think so. Why not go for the obvious 'historic Japan', 'Unique Japan" or 'Special Japan' - something the world can relate to.

Only yesterday the headlines were about Japan's support for nuclar and coal rather than renewables.

Cool Japan is a another one of Abe's platitudes.

So called celebrities would be doing more good by stepping up and critisising these misguided policies and political gimmicks.

Maybe because supporting the LDP would make him even more uncool? He's getting a little old to be adding cool as a prefix to his name.

Well, I can sleep better now that he's pledged his support.

'Rock' stars who hide behind sunglasses and dye their hair are so cool. Implies an attitude of opaque disengagement. A perfect match for the LDP and a great vision for Japan's cool future.

Stop using our taxes for 'soft power' !

Yoshiki doesn't sing in X-Japan.

Cool Japan is the government money (our tax money) spent on Japanese project supposedly to be heard abroad and show how Japan is Cool.
