New York Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka, 25, and model Rola, 24, are among winners of the "Best Jeanist Awards 2014."
The annual awards, in their 31th year, are given to Japanese celebrities who look good in jeans. The public are also able to have their say by voting online.
Tanaka - who is popularly referred to as "Ma-kun" by Japanese media -- returned to Japan last week after the latter part of his season was marred by an elbow injury. He confessed that he doesn't know much about fashion and that his wife coordinates his outfits.
Rola, who seems to be everywhere these days, was a winner for the second year in a row.
Other winners this year are idol group Kis-My-Ft2 member Taisuke Fujigaya, 27, actress Eiko Koike, 33, and figure skater Miki Ando, 26, and comedy duo SUMMERS.

I love Laura, but this award is meaningless and silly.

That time of year already?! I was still celebrating last year's winners!
There should really be more buildup for this prestigious offering. Jeans are right up there with that light thing, the Nobel winner, Mr. LED.

Arguably the most dumbest award in Japan. Enough said.
DaDude
Honestly, I never even noticed any of those people wearing jeans.

This is the only award Tanaka will receive this year, better live it up!

Tanaka was hoping for the Cy Youngest award but due to injury he'll have to settle for this. He also wasn't eligible for the Goldest Glove award.

I can't believe I missed that online vote! Why weren't we informed beforehand??

What the heck is a 'jeanist?" Just another example of why many Japanese have a hard ime learning proper English. Please stop making up nonsensical terms.

Jeaniest? How about 'non sensicalist'!!

I am still waiting for a "best bestist" award. Come on, promoters!

What? You prefer corduroy over denim? You're JEANIST!

Something must have been lost in the translation.

Obviously the people who decide who is Best Jeanist haven't seen Erika Sawajiri in a pair of jeans.

@Mocheake
It's Japanese, not English, and not for your (or my, for that matter) benefit.

"I Dream of Geniest" is shown on TV some mornings. Makes me laugh.
