Anti-Obama books are best-sellers

It's interesting how anti-Obama right wingers claim Jerome Corsi's book on Obama has to be taken as fact, while completely ignoring that the SAME FRICKING NUTCASE published statements that John McCain:

1) is rich on mob money. According to Corsi, Cindy McCain's father has close ties to organized crime and his beer distribution business is backed by the mob. Corsi also alleges that McCain is tight with Russian mobster Oleg Deripaska.

2) is a fake, corrupt Republican in the pocket of rich liberals George Soros and Ariana Huffington.

3) is supported by al-Qaida. A direct quote: “Presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain has enjoyed strong support from a lobbyist group that backs the Kosovo Liberation Army despite allegations the KLA is a Muslim terrorist group with ties to criminal drug networks and al-Qaida.”

4) has attacked McCain's relatively liberal attitude toward immigration, calling him "anti-Conservative (therefore anti-American)"

You don't like Obama that is fine, but how can anybody with any intellectual honesty explain how they can choose to believe only Corsi's attacks on Obama? Just shameful.

I'd like to congratulate dimpleGel. In the future, Internet Scholars will point at this post as a textbook lesson in "How to Spot a Concern Troll; 2008 Election Edition".

User's first post on the message board? Check. The required "I'm a Democrat, but..." line? Check. Adding minor criticism of actual preferred candidate - McCain - as smokescreen? Check. Use of standard Republican talking points? Check. A Dog Whistle line, "wolf in sheep's clothing"? Check. Ending with "Not that I really care, either way. I'm just saying, is all."? Check.

All good stuff but very standard. However, this line makes it gold medal level trolling:

Having the moxy to write something as brain-damagingly stupid as this and slide it into your post as if no one would notice; that is really going above and beyond.

And as far as right-wing books being best sellers, always take it with a grain of salt. There are a lot of right-wing sugar daddies (the Coors family and Richard Mellon Scaife, for example) out there willing to spend a fortune buying books in bulk to make it appear like there is some public support for their crazier ideas. If you actually want to buy something from Regenery Press, don't buy it from Amazon.com, google the Conservative Book Club instead. You see, Regenery owns the Conservative Book Club and "sells" them their books for huge discounts - racking up "sales" numbers - and the Conservative Book Club then tries to unload them on anyone who will take them for as little as $1 each. In fact, Jerome Corsi, one of the authors listed above, sued Regenery over the practice claiming that they were ripping him off on his commission on each sale. The idiot correctly identified it as a scam but mistakenly seemed to believe that he would actually have any sales if his books weren't being dumped on the market for $1 each. Apparently someone took Jerome aside and explained the way things work to him because he's back with Regenery. And why do they dump their books on the market? Well, so that Hannity and the whole Fox News gang have an excuse to invite them on the air to discuss whatever garbage it is that the Republican party wants out there but doesn't want to be officially linked to. I mean, does anyone believe that people actually buy Anne Coulter's books?

I'd just like to say that not everyone who buys these books are either Republican,nor can it be said that people who buy these books have made up their minds one way or the other. I, for instance, am not a Republican. On the contrary, I have been more sympathetic toward the Democrats in the past.

I got the Corsi book out of sheer curosity. And I find what he is reporting about Obama to be disquieting to say the least. I will admit that I have never been too hot on Obama to begin with, but couldn't stomach the though of the continuation of the Bush-Clinton dynasty. And McCain is less than attractive as a president in my opinion as well.

Nevertheless, I feel as if it would be better to have a McCain as president, simply because his positions are more transparent. In short, I know from the start I disagree with his policies and won't be taken in by what he has to say.

Obama, on the other had seems to me, more and more to be a wolf in sheep's clothing. And he has to charisma to pull the masses along with him. And the Corsi book is revealing more and more questionable background on him,the deeper I get into it.

But hey, this is just my two cents.

here's a scarey thought for you. Remeber that the U.S. Senate & Congress have a LOWER approval rating than the President right now. Look at where the two canadiates for the president are from...they a both from the LOWER approved Senate...think about this people!!!! Instead of getting new and improved we will be going in the wrong direction.

Thank you zurcronium. I always felt it never suited the Republicans to mock something true. Though I'll say the same with Democrats, but lately since 2003 I've been seeing a lot of ridiculous things coming from the political right. Though I'm sure the left is to blame for a few of their own.

However Obama is right, and the context of his comment was stretched to dishonest lengths by the Republicans responsible for the attack. Someone asked what we the people could do, on our own initiative, and Barack gave an honest answer.

USNinJapan2, perhaps obama should consider running for president of the EU. Heh, I'm sure all europeons would elect a (half) black man who's religion is based on a Pro-Africa agenda to be their leader.

Obama fights back at the losers who slime him because they have nothing better to suggest to fix the country after 8 years of failure by bush.

Now two points. One, they know they are lying about what my energy plan is. But the other this they are making fun of a step that every expert says would absolutely reduce our oil consumption by 3 to 4%. It's like these guys take pride in being ignorant.

You know, they think it is funny that they are making fun of something that is actually true. They need to do their home work, because this is serious business. Instead of running ads about Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, they should go talk to some energy experts and actually make a difference.

That fact that Bush won twice shows that people are willing to vote republican even when the candidate has already proven he's unfit to lead, so McCain could definitely win this one.

The second time Bush "won" he was riding the thin remnants of 9/11 and only barely won by one state. Kerry was a terrible Democratic candidate. Considering Bush barely won against someone as uncharasmatic and unexciting as Kerry doesn't mean the country will automatically vote republican. If Kerry had half the charisma that Obama has he would have stomped Bush to the ground.

As for the books, I imagine most of them are being bought by die hard republicans who are looking for reasons not to like Obama because they can't think of any themselves.

It's clear that you haven't visited the U.S. South in quite a while. The Southeast region of the country is solid red states.

The people who used to be "Dixiecrats" have been convinced by the Christian Right and the gun lobby that any democrat will take away their guns, raise their taxes, make them bring tasteful gifts to gay weddings and make their kids go to school with s and s and _____s. (Fill in the ethnic groups of your choice.)

As a resident of the South who is both Democrat and agnostic, I can tell you from personal experience that rednecks are definitely not Democrats.

I think you will find that the folks you call Rednecks are mainly Democrats, because they think Democrats will give them more welfare. Anti Obama books will naturally be best sellers, most folks don`t like the guy.

Why bother with books? Most rednecks won't support a black candidate to begin with. And seeing how most Repuglican voters south of the Mason-Dixon line seldom read past the Sunday comix, I suppose these things are being used for doorstops, or substituted for clay pigeons at skeet practice.
