Cyclonic vacuum cleaner

Toshiba Home Appliances' new cyclonic vacuum cleaner “Megawheel VC-CY200D” has a lightweight head with improved self-propelled brush functions to sweep in dirt and dust. The cleaner uses 580 watts, 10 watts higher than conventional models, on the suction performance.

The compact cleaner head weighs approximately 490 grams, 30 grams lighter than conventional models, and the width has been downsized by 1 cm. The head brush structure has been improved to prevent tangling of lint and hair, with the added feature of removing dust in the air from the upper part of the cleaner head. Retail price to be around 50,000 yen.

hardly a new product, its a blatant rip-off of a Dyson, which has been around for 20yrs at least

Disregarding the stupid comments, history has shown tht the Japanese have a propensity to take something from another country and ultimately make it better than the originial. I have yet to see a Dyson the size of the unit in the photo, at least in the United States anyway. Furthmore, when they take technology or anything else for that matter from another country they don't deny it or take credit for it, unlike their mainland neighbors who will pirate anything rather "shamelessly".

Cyclonic is a fad. Independent testing showed Dyson was no better or worst than the cheapie vacuums. Dyson had stopped making the claim that Cyclonic's didn't clog and now market on how maneuverable they are.

I will take a Japanese vacuum cleaner any day. They have more power with low wattage and are quieter. I still prefer a bag type vacuum cleaner as cyclone types need cleaning often. Dyson vacuum cleaners are overpriced although some Japanese ones aren't cheap either. I once bought an overseas 1300 watt vacuum cleaner thinking that it would do a better job because of the power. I tossed it in the garbage in the end. A cheap Japanese vacuum cleaner does the job well.
