The environmental threat of climate change, which is exacerbated by fossil fuel consumption, is something that has been ignored and even subsidized for far too long. Failing to take action earlier puts us in position to take much more drastic action later. I will likely be gone before it gets too bad, but I'm willing to sacrifice in order to leave the Earth in better condition for our descendants.

The airlines are right to be ropable about this. The "credits" are just a scam for the EU and the people who own it (merchant bankers, not ordinary citizens) to confiscate wealth under the false cloak of environmentalism.

The usual special pleading from the airline industry.

The central position of any environmental policy should be “the producer pays”. They are the ones both profiting from producing the problem and best placed to reduce or eliminate it.

It’s not as if they have not been aware of the problem for a long time, but instead of taking proactive measures to deal with it they have consistently sought to obstruct, obfuscate and kick the can down the road, prioritising profits and the CEO’s pay packet/share options over any other consideration.

Algernon LaCroix-carbon credits is an innovative way to democratize and incentivize better climate choices. Companies that take direct positive action are rewarded and companies that don't/can't are forced to pay the market rate or true cost which reduces the harm to the environment without direct/specific governmental mandates.

Opinions without facts supporting a logical assertion belong on toilet paper.

How about raising prices in order to reduce passengers?

Banning LCCs would be a good start!

Carbon credits are nothing but a scam invented to make money off an exaggerated problem.

quote- the climate impact of water vapour

Are these jokers serious? Putin is slaughtering his way through Ukraine (with a quite substantial impact on the Ukrainian environment) and these idiots are worrying about water vapour? It's probably the only thing humanity creates that isn't polluting.
